Yeah they’re getting really tough to find since DC sports stopped making them for these cars once the pandemic started :/ I guess the market is no longer there anymore. Try and see if you can find new old stock or just try out the ebay headers. Good luck
@@Darksyne yeah I love this generation of Acura. (3rd gen 99-03) It's such a great mix of old school Honda and new school Honda. But like you said, you got to get really creative and scour the internet because these cars are getting rare. I'm noticing I got to do a lot of performance mods from scratch, because they're just isn't a big aftermarket out there for this gen.
This is my 2000 2nd tl and I think u have a very great set up and in my opinion the exhaust video on this car and I really appreciate the info in the previous vid
Thank's man :) Too bad this is as good as it gets for performance on my car since Comptech stopped producing parts for this generation of TL's. I want to try and make the intake manifolds breath better for my final stage of performance mods.
have you ever had any transmission issues with this car? I'm looking to buy one this weekend and I've been reading up on them and finding that they all had a clutch fork issue with 3rd gear
We had the car since new and we’ve only ever had the transmission replaced under warranty back in 2006 with the re-designed “blue bolt” unit. Ever since then it’s had absolutely no issues and still shifts like new but keep in mind I also change the transmission fluid once a year to maximize its life. As long as you have service records from the owner that the fluid was regularly change and if the transmission did get replaced with the redesigned unit, it should be fine. These cars are super reliable otherwise!
@@Darksyne how do you identify/tell if its the redesigned trans? I'm led to believe a car with high miles would have this issue fixed by now but you never know.. lol
@@micahrlusk they call the ones with the updated transmission the “blue bolt” design. I can’t remember which one of the bolts were blue but that’s an easy way to tell.
Whats up brotha I have a 2002 Acura TL Base and just recently bought DC headers and the Revel (Tanabe) medallion touring-s catback exhaust I also purchased a magna flow catalytic converter direct fit. This should complete the set up correct ?
I would say this would be a 7 at best. You notice more of a difference in loudness in the lower mid RPM range but it gets drowned out by the VTEC induction in the high RPM range. Because it still has 2 rear mufflers and a resonator it won't be crazy loud and no droning so it's perfect for Daily driving. It just amplifies the stock engine and exhaust to a meaner slightly louder tone, it's badass.
Im thinking of doing a similar setup on my 2008 toyota yaris...and I dig the way your ride sounds. How is the dc header holding up? How's the whole system? I Would appreciate some insight! It's my first time upgrading anything but it was either buy a new car or fix this one.
100% but the good news is if something happens to the car I can always part out the exhaust system and either sell it or buy a 2nd Gen TL type s and put it on there 😂
@@Darksyne Where did you Source all the parts to build the Turbo System on the car I'm actually looking I'm throwing in a turbo on my TL 2000 only has a 150000 kilos. Do you still have the original transmission on that?
I had that issue too last year. Most common problem is the idle air control valve is getting clogged. It’s located by the throttle body so you can just take it off and try to see if you can clean the inside with carb cleaner and see if it works. Otherwise you’ll need to buy a new one and they’re over $100 but once it’s back to normal the idle is so smooth after. Hope this helps!
The exhaust is definitely the most expensive because shipping rates are highway robbery here in Canada. A cold air intake will help with these cars since they don't need a tune unless you have a manual CL and they're not that expensive.
viyau yeah it’s important to get that done or the engines toast when it breaks. Mines got a few leaks here and there too but I’m gonna replace the oil filter housing gasket as it’s common for it to leak like it is on my car. These cars are so easy to work on that’s why I’m never getting rid of it 😁
Very good my friend Which model is DJ Sport? Dcm4000?? How to volume with the original Does it make a lot of noise??? My car honda ek chassis 2000 models
Way more than what the car is worth lol. I wanna say about $2500 to get the Headers, the Magnaflow Cat, and to ship the Tanabe exhaust from the states.
Manuel Alejandro Correa unfortunately not because after my TL’s generation, the 3rd generation uses catalytic converters built into the exhaust manifold in order to meet the latest emissions requirements. In your case if you want a better breathing exhaust, look up magnaflow high-flow catalytic converters for your TL, since they’re less restrictive than OEM.
I only lose MPG when I drive faster because of how nice the exhaust sounds haha. But in normal driving it's probably only slightly better on the highway since it's less restrictive. But I'm glad you like how it sounds but I just wish it was a bit louder at WOT lol.
jesus cornejo the tanabe exhaust I had to order from eBay but if you have an automotive performance shop that can order these things for you I would get a quote from them too.
Sounds mint!
My shit do not reach that far. What did you do? I have the same car with a intake and tomorrow I’m about to add the ECCPP racing headers
Headers add any power ???
Enjoy it, because, all of those are discontinued... 😮💨

What air intake are you running? And would it fit in a 03?
Just an AEM cold air intake. Just make sure you get the right model number because they’re different for the Type S engine
