I remember these used to be everywhere!!!
Aaron Ries in my area they are still
A real classic beauty
One of the last great cars made in America
And easy to work on and replace pretty much anything
Yes. Thank you. I'm not alone here.
I loved these cars back in the day
i have one and i love it!!
I have a 1994 V6 with 70k miles.
I love these style of GM vehicles they run forever.
as long as the rust doesn't get to them anyways...
Gerald Thomas Everyone I know says they were shit cars but I still see so SO many of them even in the rusty areas.
Ours is 24 years and still going. Definitely a lot of rust but she runs pretty good for her age
Me too
@@juppongatana773they never got rust!
I got a 1988 Oldsmobile Ciera it had 56000 miles on it for $450 they was going to scrap it I put a mass air flow sensor it runs like a beauty after I fixed it I love it the best car ever
Matty Hayes I wish people didn’t want to scrap cars for literally no reason
This is the very first car I ever remember riding in (back in '99 through the early 2000s). My dad had one (not sure if '94, or earlier, since these look like 80s cars). The engine rumble was music to my ears, the turn signals were music to my ears. This car was so different than the curvy cars of the late 90s and early 2000s that dominated the roads at the time. Now I really want one myself, cause its been 15 years since i've rode in it.
When I saw these cars in Fargo, they looked really nice. Though, I didn't realize how dated the interior was for a '94
These were very nice cars with decent power, the V6's & a crazy comfy ride.
im 17 got this car from my mom. love it. its chipping paint every where. i like the look of barely getting around. right on!
Ay goo flyers ✊✊
One thing I always loved about this particular car was that, though it was well-made and comfortable. In terms of looks, it appears quite humble, not really flaunting itself so to speak, which is a nice contrast to the legendary Cutlass 442.
Had a 93 Cutlass Ciera S got it at 160k for $300, sold it at 240k miles for $1,500 minor maintenance in between. It had a 3.3 liter/ 3300 one of the most dependable cars I've owned. It got me started on Olds and now I have several of it's grandfather's and great grandfathers. The Ciera never had a leak or any major issues, I dogged it and always set the cruise control at 80, heat and air still worked. Last I heard it had 270,000 miles and still going strong. Long live Oldsmobile. I read some of the comments about the Aurora too. It's one hell of a car, Olds really lived up to the rocket name with it. Besides the theft and ignition systems it is a great car and still luxurious compared to todays standards. They now make a bypass kit to make it a simple and reliable car. They are awesome
This was my first car. My car now is much better, but I get really nostalgic for these vehicles. If I ever have extra money, I'll get one for the hell of it. Great car.
I just bought a 1996 with 165K miles for 800 dollars. Runs perfectly.
How’d it go?
Just started my 1993 oldsmobile up after my 370z started slipping in the snow, needed a booster this year but man always starts up with zero issues. What a car.
This thing is nearly identical to my '85 Cutlass Ciera. I bet these things didn't cost GM very much to manufacture by '94.
damn i have to say this cutlass ciera is a Very Clean one, Mint condition. im digging it
These are great cars. Mine has 203,000 miles and more rust than paint, but no leaks or engine knock and all stock (3.1 V6), all original components working including AC. The environment will get to these cars before they fail mechanically.
I purchased a 95 in the fall of 98. Mine was also a 4cyl but it was SL trim is had power windows locks seats cassette my first real car after college. I had it 12 years loved it.
My grandma has the '90 Oldsmobile Eighty- Eight Royale. She bought it brand new and has literally run forever (now 24 years old!). I always wondered the difference between the two besides the Cutlass being smaller. Very cool cars!
I own a '91 Cutlass Ciera and it still runs beautifully. Oldsmobile knew how to make cars.
my first husbands mom gave me her old one. And it's my absolute favorite!!
I'm looking to own one of these again . Very reliable
Kyle you have come a long long way. Kudos.
+craig doss He got older.
And now he focuses on cars the majority can't afford
Who in the heck FINANCES a 15-year old Oldsmobile? This is the type of car you just pay cash for and drive off the lot.
People who don't know how to save at least $2000 to pay cash for a car.
Who in the heck finances a 1994 Oldsmobile? I'll tell you who: Bernie Sanders voters.
JELH
Best. Response. Ever!
Stamped Octagon Productions yeah honestly haha. Sad that a 15 year old car was repossessed. I mean they payments couldn't have even been that high 🤔
Idk. I opened up a loan to get my 2nd 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera. 🤷♀️
for a short time my stepdad had a '95 one of these as a work car. Was in pristine shape I had to say.
Nice work Kyle. That will make a great first car for somebody. I miss Olds, I wish they still made em
my dad had one of these.. id love to get my hands on a nice clean one.. great car.. great feel
Thank you for the tour!
As Mr. Regular once typed, the "Iron Duke: An engine with a note more hollow than your father's compliments when you showed him your homemade comic book drawn on lined stationary."
The Cutlass Ciera was one of the four GM "A" body cars introduced in early 1982. The others were the Chevy Celebrity, Pontiac 6000, and Buick Century. They were based on the "X" body cars that launched two years earlier. They shared engines and many other components. The Ciera didn't suffer the myriad recalls that plagued the X body cars. Wagons were added for 1984. By the beginning of the '90s, offerings became fewer: the Celebrity was dropped after 1990, the 6000 followed a year later. The Century and Ciera carried on until 1996. The Ciera in the video has door-mounted shoulder belts, which aren't very safe in case the doors suddenly fly open, or in a crash. The driver and/or front seat passenger could be seriously injured or killed if they fall out of the car. A vehicle like that should be avoided. Thought that was something everybody should know.
+William Reed ..One of the cars that started GMs downfall as well.
toyoscio Yes, indeed. One of a bunch of hastily-developed cars that tarnished GM's image. It was never the same again.
Why did you say that? I put 238,000 miles on a 94 V6 with absolutely zero problems. If it caused any problems,, it was because it ran TOO good
Could not agree more! Four cars ago, I had a 1993 Olds Cutlass Cruiser station wagon, woodie, had it for four years, and she was a dream! Comfy, roomy, reliable (took me on a nationwide trip and never had as much as a hiccup), and I still remember that quiet but solid sound of her 3.3 l V6. It was really sad to see another happy guy drive her off my driveway when the time came. One of the best cars I ever owned.
@@jonsmit3819 We're still enjoying the 91 Cutlass Cruiser my parents gave us years ago after they got something smaller. 197,000 miles and a pleasure to drive. Our grandson loves the rear facing third seat. He made me laugh when he said of it, "It's my favorite - don't tell the others." Opening the tailgate window allows me to bring home several sheets of 4 x 8 plywood. I wonder how much I'd have to pay for a new car with that capability.
Among my all time favorites I had one silver burgundy interiors thanks for the memory but mine had an electric radio antenna
Getting strong BeamNG Bruckell LeGran vibes! 😉
i really like the oldschool look of this car, i wouldnt mind driving one its really nice.
My dream car
I believe this is the last high quality Oldsmobile GM made. I don't know too much about the Aurora though.
I have a 96 and I love it
This was my second car after wrecking my first. Lot of good memories packing all my friends in there and blasting music. It kept dying at stop lights and I didn't know anything about cars back then so I traded it for a k5 blazer
I love how the guy interviewing this car is so proud the car works and is starting to work and drives. These days there are much better cars and vehicles.
One of must best cars in history, i want to buy one we use to drive this car in iraq
SuperPwner1336 had chevy celebrity when I was in iraq
GreaserElvis08 yeah, they are international cars, you can find some almost anywhere.
@Burleon if u got Oldsmobile u are super cool and rich back in 80s cuz sadam use to give it to his army officers and such as gift
we still have it in Iraq and thy r in agood shape..not ricked not rusted..we just did a paint job..
حي الله العراق
Cool how he goes from Rolls-Royce Phantom to '94 Cutlass. Covers every thing.
The paint on my 94 has done the same thing. Same color. Now sitting at 132,000. Need to redo the interior on mine. Too much aging and heat destroyed. Great vehicle, very practical daily driver.
Bought a 95 Ciera in 1998 with 48000. Had it till 2009 it had 185,000 still going strong when sold. Mine was a 2.2 as well.
These were Wonderful!! 80's GM Cars were GREAT!! I Drive a Mint shape 1985 Buick skylark Love IT! Nice 6000...Always Liked those Allot! Still got it??
to moneyshop: I currently have a 1993 cutlass that I had all the body work done on and I keep it well maintained. I have to say it is great in the snow. I love how simple and bleak the dashboard is. These can be picked up real cheap......real real cheep, even in mint codition
I have a 1995 SL that's not too different, Power Windows and no power button on the radio for one, V6 engine for another. Multigenerational car and I agree with you. The car runs just as smoothly as the day she came off the assembly line. My Great Grandfather purchased her and ran her until he died then passed it along to my Grandfather-his eldest son who coincidentally had a Delta 88 before that. Both are beautiful machines. My Grandfather didn't take care of her as well as his father did, thankfully it's all cosmetic damage. When My Grandfather passed My mother sister and I inherited it, but I'm the only one who took an interest in it. The other too took one look at her and assumed the cosmetic damage belied greater interior damage that would make it a money pit but other than a few hoses that needed changing (which we made sure were switched out with other Olds/GM hoses) She's got all the same parts she had the day she was brought into the family. For the life of me I can't find the high beams though. A lot of the symbols have been rubbed off over the years and the Lamp button is throwing me for a loop-This car is almost as old as I am, and the oldest vehicle I've ever driven as a result
these 'A-bodies' are great cars, I own a 1985 Pontiac 6000, and I'm a mechanic and I can attest that these are beautifully engineered vehicles
I miss these cars
i've got a 92 model cutless ciera s with the 3.3 v6 damn comfortable car to drive and the gm 3300 v6 she has was in my opinion one of the most reliable engines gm made
Wow my grandma had one of these cars man that's cool
just bought one of these recently and im going to be reviewing it today in about 6 hours the video will be up. mine is in horrible condition though
HECTIKVIDZ I'll check it out!
Jerry Lundegaard was right. That TrueCoat stuff is one hell of a sealant. Looks very mint for its age.
Cash for Clunkers took a lot of these old warriors out of circulation,. That was a damn shame
The 2.5L 4 cylinder (Iron Duke) was a great GM engine. The 3.0L V-6 was a boat anchor which was replaced in later years by a 3300 V-6, a superior engine. It took GM about 6 years to get this car right
Good ol' Old's. Sad that they went under. That Aurora they made in their last years was one of my fav's from them.
Saw lots of these in Riyadh and were pretty decent cars, they were like a smaller, more efficient option to the luxobarge Caprices and Roadmasters.
I just sold my old 93 today for $200... over 300,000 miles and it pered like a kitten. Best damn car i have ever owned. I bought a new buick :(
What a beaute. I got an 86 'Brougham' with all the fancy shit (luggage rack, hood ornament, arm rest, cc). It's rusted in some areas, even rust through, but where its not, i shined up real nice with some car wax. It gets stares every now and then, especially after it rains or I come out of a car wash. Not bad at all.
Great car!
i have an oldsmobile cutlass ciera s 1994 model.. i can out run plenty of 2013 cars because i have done alot of work to the car and got it up to todays standards. i like having it around because for a V6 i get better gas mileage than most of the newer V6 cars i see on the road today. lol in other words i can prove my car is bad ass.. ill post a video of me driving it to work today.
We have a 1994 Oldsmobile like this car only it has the V6 it is a 3.1 L. And it has 188,000 miles on it.
Nice Cutlass Ciera man, it's one of my favs man :)
People like these? I own one lmao
I knew an old lady that had a cutlass but it was white. Nice car. Really it was
@runitecastle the signal switch is definately supposed to return back to the middle position after taking a turn. It is starting to break......get it replaced
nice upload, thats pretty good only 66k miles
Nice looking car
I have a 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass ciera s with the 3.1 v6. 157,xxx miles, interior is not clean like yours lol all though I would love to get a nice deep clean on it. I have automatic windows, cruise control, ac and heater work great. Very reliable car for a to b driving
From 1985 to 1987 Gm did use the 3.8 fuel injection as an option before it was called the "3800".Also from 1982 until 1985 they used a 3.0 v-6 with a 2bbl another engine in the Buick 90 v-6 family. Not to be confused with the 2.8 v-6 which was a Chevrolet motor.Even rarer was the 4.3 v-6 disel which was a 5.7 diesel minus 2 cylinders and with the problems of the diesels fixed by then.
we had the same car but it was a '93 and i remember it had a lot of leg room!
Very nice detailing work! It really does look showroom new! One thing I don't get is why did they put in crank windows but power locks but I've seen Cobalts like that.
Very true! Rust is their greatest enemy.
I got that v6 running good with the 2 12s I'm the second owner
So amny memories, my dad used to have the same car, except the ext. paint was like a light brown color. He sold it after the door fell apart & ended up with an '04 Honda Accord :(
I love this car I have one: Cutlass Ciera Standard 1990. Oldsmobile come back someday?
Aunque en México tener uno cuesta un poco mas, pero la potencia que brinda bien lo vale.
That pink van in the background though.
That is in great shape, even for the age when this video was made. Too bad only the low note horn is working. Seems like the high notes always quit working after a while. Sometimes they'd start working again on their own but they always seemed prone to failure for some reason.

My brother has one of these, maroon with power windows, 3.1 v6, multispoke rims, and a little under 70,000 miles. Not a bad car
dude thats freakin awesome!! i fuckiin love it!
Hey Kyle, I have a question man, on these Olds. Cutlass Cieras, when you put the gear into drive, do the doors lock, and do the doors unlock when you put the gear into park? Thanks.
6 years later, but in case you were still curious, no they don't unlock when you put the car in park lol.
@shauna Wilson mine do
I got the same exact model, just in tan. few questions if anyone can give the answers. The turn signal stick doesn't reset automatically after a turn is made. Is this an issue or just the way its designed? I have power locks for my doors but the rear passenger doors have to be locked and unlocked manually from the inside. Again,an issue or the way its designed? & there's a little red LED just to the left of the AC controls that is always lit. Is it an alarm system? no clue what it is.
@MXguy95 None had a 3.4 and only a few early models had the 3.8. Most had 2.5, 2.8, 3.3, 2.2, 3100; in order from oldest to newest. They even made a few diesels.
They 3.3 and 3.8 were the best IMO. I've got a 1993 3.3 with 60k miles on it.
Those hub cabs look exactly like those from the 1982-1985 Chevy Celebrity....except with the Oldsmobile logo!!!
had an 85' brougham.... RIP, gutlass cutlass :) !!!!
I have a 95 cutlass 6 cylinder 3.8 I think? she is a nice ride for being so old she only has like 80k good video looked at everything except in the trunk
Tips on how to clean these specifically? I'm not a car person but I have a 1994 Cutlass Cierra S from my ex mother in law and i wanna clean it well and make it look nice again
hey at 1:56 is that the same grand cherokee with the blown motor? did u fix it?
This one would be even easier to maintain than the 6 cylinder version and more economical
@control177 those along with 3.1 an 3.4DOHC engines, they just wont quite, the transmissions thou, well thats another story lol
Kyle Can You Find Any 82-86 Olds Cutlass V6 Rwd 4Dr.
Tour + Test ?
thanks!
@spongebue Not sure about the flashing light, though... mine doesn't have that.
@Inkey2 O for real? O ok nice. Thanks man, I appreciate
@Silvertrine I don't think they ever put a 3800 in the Ciera. I believe the biggest they went was the 3300. 3800 would have been in the bigger olds, Ninety-Eight and Eighty-Eight, and I believe the 6000 STE. I could be wrong though. The Ciera also had the 2.5 4tech, and 2.2 OHV 4cyl shown in this car.
I never knew these things even came with a 4cyl. I always assumed the V6 was standard
thanks
@runitecastle Both of those first two issues are not the way it's designed, I'm sure. My '95 model does both the signals and rear locks just fine, though I did have the turn signal switches replaced for an unrelated reason. That's a pain in the butt on this model, though I think steering column issues in general tend to be pretty complex. Word of warning: be very careful when doing it yourself, as the wrong move could cause the airbag to deploy.
my dad is buying me a cutlass... a 96 I believe, its got only 40k miles on it and for $2500.... what a steal, I think mine has power windows and the 3800 v6.
@saabkyle04 and another thing i wanted to point out. This is the only type of car i have ever seen that has both the seatbelt icon along with the words "Fasten Belts".
@ca13814 you should do a video on your olds i have a 91 Eighty Eighty Royale
OMG i would love this car......I have a 93 that is a little worse for wear
