    If I didn’t know better I’d swear I was looking at my own 94. Exact same color.
    Now sitting at 132,000. Had issues with sensor connectors, sensors themselves, ignition control module, coil packs, catalytic converter. It’s been a solid performer otherwise. daily driver for me. Very practical and great on gas. Passed emissions inspections every year easily. Now at 25 no longer needed. This one is flawless.
    Love it.

    1982 was the first year for the Cutlass Ciera. The production started on September 28, 1981 for the brand new '82 models and the production ended on August 30, 1996. So, they've made these things for almost 15 years. 1996 was the last year for the Cutlass Ciera before it was replaced by the N-Body 1997 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

    Super clean! Really amazing it’s that nice even with the mileage, looks like it’d be an under 50k car.

    i just bought one for $500 it's pretty beat up and has some issues but still runs.
    Where would i find the trunk release because the trunk is stuck shut. Isn't it in the glovebox right beside the fusebox?

    I thought 1996 it was called the oldsmobile ciera not cutlass...they dropped cutlass in like 94

    • @ViperJay5
      @ViperJay5 9 років тому

      Close, but actually the Cutlass was dropped solely for the 1996 model year, the last year of the Ciera production. It is possible that the owner of this Ciera could've gotten the extra decals and wording from a junkyard or ebay. I had a 1994 Cutlass Ciera and had it not be costing me lots of money to repair all the various problems that had arisen, I would've probably kept the car. But unless this is a special model, it didn't come with the international flags either. I think that was dropped for the 93 year.

      @snipindowntown 9 років тому

      yeah i think you're correct. I believe the international flags went until '93 (last year of non airbag steering wheel) then olds somewhat cheaper out. Had an '85 as a kid, gorgeous car. Looking for another to keep and enjoy as they are getting more rare (at least in Canada). and was brougham dropped in '87?

    • @ViperJay5
      @ViperJay5 9 років тому

      snipindowntown I think you're right with the Brougham trim package being dropped in 87, it was that or 88 but I'm not really sure. I had an 86 which was the standard model and I don't think it really had power anything on it but I tell you, I enjoyed that car the most. It was blue and so very comfortable. I had to sell it because the body was rusting so badly, especially on the driver door. Then about a year later when winter first hit, I was coming home and just a few blocks from my house, some kids ended up driving it into the ditch and the bumper kissed a birch tree. I was so disheartened by it because it was my baby and I tried taking care of it. I still had one hidden set of keys and I was so tempted to drive it out of the ditch that night myself, but I didn't. Instead they had a Jeep pull it out but someone wasn't careful enough and the car slipping and rear-ended the Jeep and smashed the trunk all to hell. I saw the car a few more times after that but I haven't seen it for about seven years so I have that sinking feeling it met it's demise. I really loved those cars. I had a lot less problems with them than my current 2005 Chevy Impala.

      Funny you'd mention that. I grew up with the car (ash trays in the back seats, was a rare 2 in the front buckets with a floor shifter and it was a brougham with power everything but windows. It was a dark blue, dish hub caps with white walls and it donned the international series flags. My grandpa apparently bought it new for a bartered deal around 13-14 grand which was a significant investment back then, i think creeping up to cadillac prices. When Oldsmobile was in its prime, it was alongside cadillac which was a big accomplishment. They were unique and overlooked. I have a particular appreciation for the cars. It was in late 2000, same time i got rid of my '95 odyssey just december 2014, and the car had a gas tank leak, rust etc. My parents got it from my grandpa in about '92 or 93 with no more than 50k. They put 250k on the car in a matter of 7 years. I was really sad about the car because it was the first car I remember having and it was one of the best and most comfortable. Plush seats, chrome belts, Mark of Excellence to say the least. I'm looking to find another one, hopefully the same year and trim level. One question i have, and it's an odd one, but in 1985, was the Oldsmobile Jet logo in the bottom middle of the steering wheel or bottom right? i don't remember. Anyways nice story buddy. i'll never forget the awesome AC delco cassette deck with premium (Dolby noise reduction) sound. nothing like a little SAGA and Howard Jones to bring back memories. I'm 19 btw

      snipindowntown Viper Jay 5 I am the owner of this car! I Plan to make a new video of this car when it gets warmer outside. The Ciera currently has 180,500 miles on it and is still running strong. Going to be 3 years as of March 1st 2015.

      The antilock brakes do not work. They will lock up if you mash it down. I just don't care to fix it. The breaks work fine.
