The fuzzy wall market transition was Cloud seeing visions of the future. He saw Aerith walking to her own death and dying at sephiroth's hand, and was (re)experiencing the grief and sadness of that moment. The side matetials confirm that due to weird time travel shenanigans, ppl near aerith sometimes get small glimpses of future events. Marlene has a similar vision when the sector 7 plate collapses
There are many other instances of it in remake too! Like when cloud sees her ribbon for the first time, he sees visions from right before her death. And towards the finale battle there's a vision of the water burial.
And during the photo side quest in cosmo canyon, he interrupts her while she's praying and then doesn't know what to say. The quest description confirms that he felt a sense of unease as he watched her pray.
@@NoctilucaBloom theres sooo much flavor text and tiny details in these games! For example, Aerith is the only character that has a Bodyguard command for Cloud. Anyone can bodyguard Aerith, and Cloud can use Iron Defense with everyone else, but Cloud only Bodyguards her.
Do you mean the scene when they're in the sector 5 slums, not Wall Market, after Aerith catches Cloud sneaking off at night, and then he has a vision and suddenly sheds a tear watching her walk and hum? If so that's a good catch. It makes sense now why he suddenly had that vision out of nowhere, it wasn't Aerith's humming but the location. Makes me believe more that they had this all planned out from the beginning and they're not just writing the story as they go with each part of the remake.

As for why both Tifa and Aerith lied to Cloud, Tifa ultimately has no idea what happened to Zack- all she knows is that Cloud misremembered what happened at the river, so she wasn’t about to tell Aerith that he’s dead based on that.
Tifa knows about Clouds mental state at this point in the game, they both probably just agreed to have a sitdown with him together at a later, calmer point but just never got the chance.
Despite what some crazy shippers on both sides will claim, neither of our girls are sinister enough to lie to Cloud just for the sake of "getting him" for themselves and ruining it for the other girl. I've seen some delusional excuses for their ship while simultanously bashing the other girl by crazy "Clotis" and "Cleriths"
Except for Aerith hiring Cloud to beat up Reno, who was probably just doing a checkup on her after the reactor explosion above her, so she could get some alone time with him, since he reminded her of Zack 😂

Wow, he really yanks Tifa's arm there during the play. Didn't notice before. Although now that I think about it, he has already done similar physical things many times with Tifa during all kinds of action moments. So, he knows from experience that Tifa can handle it and likes it.
Tifa is a brawler that can suplex monsters. Aerith got winded hiking Mt. Corel. Very different physical constitutions
He also puts his other hand on Tifa's hip to guide her through her spin. With Aerith and Yuffie, his other hand never moves. Cloud is happy to let other girls spin around him, but Tifa is the girl he actively spins.

Cloud will always stare at Tifa during the fireworks. In all other dates, he'll watch the fireworks 🤭 Tifa is also the ONLY one Cloud will give a response to when asking about the control wheel, he stays silent in all others.
I never noticed the different rotations, especially with tifa and aerith. It's actually really interesting how many little details they put into each character interactions. You can even see, cloud only puts his hand on tifas waist to rotate her, while aerith and yuffie rotated themself into clouds arms :D hahaha lol

Cloud is literally the biggest harem protagonist I have ever seen in any video game.
It's refreshing to see someone see things for how they are and not completely skew the narrative or the characters towards what they want to see. It's spot on to say that Cloud loves both Tifa and Aerith. And while I'm sure he could see himself settling down with either, it's perfectly fair to compare the dates, note the difference in dynamics between them and extrapolate an understanding of _how_ Cloud loves the different people in his life differently, while still recognising that there is love present in each date. Preferring one of those dynamics is one thing, but to deny the significance of the others in the name of that preference is unwise at best and unkind at worst.

I think it’s proven in the games, compilation, and dev interviews, that both Aerith and Tifa have feelings for Cloud, and he for them. I can point out multiple times in the games CA and CT show mutual interest in each other. Along with novels etc stating the facts, and devs doing that too.
With Tifa, she has history with Cloud, and there’s nothing in their way hindering her from expressing her feelings. So their relationship is smoother, and more direct.
With Aerith, she had the Zack thing, though she moves on from that. She no doubt knows about Tifa’s feelings, is aware of her own fate, her responsibility, and also wants to protect Cloud from pain. It’s why I believe she doesn’t fully commit to him, even though she wants/wanted to, which the canon novel “OTWTAS” pretty much confirms. As it states that Cloud was Aerith’s beloved/koibito, and that there were many things she wanted to tell him, but she didn’t know what to say, or how. Along with saying he was a symbol of everything she held dear, and she will protect him. Their relationship is more difficult, and more subtle.
The Remake trilogy is different from the OG, so the ending might be too. But even if he ultimately ends up with Tifa, I don’t think it invalidates or erases CA’s relationship. Same thing for CT if he ends up with Aerith.

Cloud and arith defenetly have a deep conection but it is right in the Center between love and a strong friendship
@@Shogun00765 You can also apply that to CT in many situations. CA’s relationship has more obstacles like I mentioned, which is why it’s less clear and direct compared to the CT one. Yet many moments between CA throughout both games show their mutual romantic attraction, and the novels prove Aerith’s romantic feelings for Cloud. Nojima himself also referred to CA in a couple context when he was taking about CoT. Cloud has friendly and romantic moments with both girls.

That’s not true at all, I’ve seen the Japanese voice actor for Cloud talk about Cloud being in love with Aerith when he played through the Remake. And I don’t recall others saying Cloud is a Tifa guy, but even if they did, they aren’t the writer’s and so forth of the characters. The actual writer, Nojima himself, has already confirmed the mutual romantic connection between CA, so that’s all I or anyone needs to know.
Of course he didn’t steal his girlfriend, because he’s not with her anymore. It’s been 5yrs and Aerith moved on, which the novel confirms.
Cloud has feelings for both girls, and they for him. I can list plenty of examples from the games, novels, Ultimania, dev interviews etc. Both are canon, and I’m not gonna get into an argument with you. So this is my last reply as there’s nothing more I need to say on the matter. If you don’t think CA have romantic feelings for each and it’s only CT that do, that’s fine, you can stick with that. But Nojima himself has already said they do, which supersedes anything else.
Aerith takes initiative with Cloud and Cloud takes Initiative with Tifa and matches her demeanor. I think there are some words for that….

I never understood shipping war mainly because of Aerith's death and events that happen later in the og game between Cloud and TIfa... like whats the point
It's pointless because Cloud clearly has feelings for both, in different ways, and so do they for Cloud. With 2 decades of debate it's clearly what the developers intended, for it not to be so straightforward.
Holding Aerith's hand is less bold than a kiss, but imo it feels more in character for Cloud. He's not quiet bcs he's disinterested, that's who Cloud is at his core. Ppl forget that Cloud isn't a charismatic romantic hero. He's a shy awkward loner that didn't know what a high five was til, what, a month or 2 ago? With Tifa, he's tapping into that fake hero/SOLDIER persona for confidence, he's not being true to himself. Aerith sees right through it and calls out his inflated ego. He's quiet, shy, more vulnerable.
Hand-holding is a small gesture, but for a guy like Cloud, its a big first step to coming out of his shell. Its a call-back to his "date" with Aerith in the slums, but this time Cloud takes initiative, even if it's small

@@Madchimpz yes. And that's not to say that Cloud doesn't have heroic attributes. The sidequests and 3-star dialogue options show that Cloud deeply cares about others and can be quite compassionate, even if he's grouchy at first. He's a good guy that pushes ppl away due to a lack of trust, a desire to be independent/prove his worth, and poor social skills. "2000 Gil to Become a Hero" (written by Nojima) showcases this beautifully. Cloud's had a rough life and it shows
I really dont want to enter in shipper fights, but for me is crazy think that all devs put some small details of tifaXcloud for no reason. I mean is like they really want to tell you that with Tifa the feeling is differente and for me that´s the reason it´s feel like the canon couple. I said Idc if you prefer yuffie o aerith, just... I don´t think they did this for no reason

The point about the Aerith date is that the majority of it is Cloud nervous/concerned and shadow of Zack. Once Aerith declares that it's Cloud she is interested in, his body language changes. And this carries on in the dream date, where by the photo stage, he's fully engaged. As with the OG, he's just starting to open up to Aerith fully, when she's taken away from him and that's the tragedy of it all.
With the Tifa date, Cloud and Tifa have less to resolve, so it leaves room for them to just enjoy each other's company and be a couple.
We should stop comparing the relationships like for like. They are purposefully very different. Cloti is more simplistic - they like each other from the get go and the only thing that needs to change is honesty and openess.
The Aerith situation is complicated by the fact they have to get to know each other, move past Zack, combat destiny and Cloud is more in keeping with a broken 16 year old that has just been tortured for five years.
They are not better than one another, simply different - and we should respect that.

Another really great comparison is the difference between dates in ch 8 where they were interrupted by Dyne and couldn't go on the wheel. They are SO different and fascinatingly so 👀

No matter which date you get, he has a lot of really strong bonding moments with both women, and the plot emphasizes the importance/tragedy of his and Aerith's bond, regardless if you think its romantic or not. Future!Aerith warns Cloud in Remake not to fall for her bcs it ends in tragedy. Both Aerith and Tifa state on this date that Aerith's feelings are more complicated than pining for Zack, with Aerith stating she likes Cloud as a person and wants to get to know him better.
Even the old Compilation was muddy on this, bcs Cloud and Tifa's bond strengthens after Aerith's death, but he still wants to meet Aerith again in the Promised Land. In ACC they co-parent Marlene and Denzel. Tifa projects domestic feelings onto Cloud in the following years (On the Way With a Smile), but Cloud is still mourning Aerith and turns to alcohol to cope. When Tifa asks if he loves her, Cloud is silent.
I don't think Cloud has a strong preference for Aerith or Tifa, their bonds are very different and they bring out different sides of each other. Its just a very messy situation complicated by Cloud's PTSD, memory issues, and lack of social skills.
@@jthecryptid Cloud literally doesn't do anything in Aerith's date but hold her hand because she wants him to pretend he's Zack at least for a moment to console her. There's no romantic moment whatsoever, meanwhile he kisses Tifa of his own free will and even tells her that she's not getting ahead of herself and that he feels the same.
If Cloud loved Aerith as more than a friend, he would have showed it and the developers would have made a scene matching the one with Tifa. But they didn't and he didn't kiss her or did anything else with her, because he doesn't love her as more than a friend.
Which he not only says towards the end of the game, but Aerith is listed in the Ultimania as a "nakama" for Cloud, which literally means friend.
Even in the first date during chapter 8, if you get Aerith, she yanks Cloud towards the skywheel and he looks totally uninterested, while if you get Tifa, they hold hands like a couple, Cloud smiles at her and they walk towards the skywheel always holding hands.
If there are feelings, those are one-sided on Aerith's part, but I doubt it, because not only she admitted that she still loves Zack, but she's still coping for Zack's void at the end and still acts like Cloud is him.
No one is saying Aerith isn't important for Cloud, but she's not important romantically and her death is a farewell, it's not something people should romanticize.
I think the sad thing is, Aerith never really gets to meet the real Cloud. She only ever gets to see small glimpses of him when he slips through the cracks. It is tragic really.
Yuffie having a crush on Zack is super cute. I remember when I was really young, I had the biggest crush on one of my teachers. lol
I think a big problem with the shipping war is that it is actually encouraged by the English localization team. If you see some of the differences in language, they really alter the perception of how Cloud views the two girls even changing the entire scene to push this stupid ship war. There was even a scene where they took Aerith trying to comfort Tifa who is afraid of ghost and turned it into a love triangle thing pitting Aerith and Tifa against each other.
Esey way to avoid the shipping war just Analyse the Story cause even though we were given romance options in th remake and og there is still a naritive a Story that the developers trying to Tell so the Shipping war is just waht people would like to see and not what is acually given
wheb cloud asked about wether tifa has talked to Aerith or aerith talked to Tifa, I think its just about Zack and its just me, whenever I see Aeriths pink bow I think of Zack. I do think Yuffie and Clouds interaction makes me think that is cloud when his memories are not like srambled eggs, more playful and fun ans since we got an all boys date, I was hoping for a date with the girls because Tifa ows Aerith a date from the Remake 🤣
I'm not sure why Tifa lied, but my read on Aerith lying is that she said all that needs to be said on the matter and didn't want to make the date about Zack or her past relationship with him. Her comment that Tifa didn't talk to her about "anything important" is telling.
Maybe it was similar for Tifa's date. It was a weird place to have that convo in the first place. At least with Cloud and Aerith, it pertains to where they both stand and Cloud is clearly uncomfortable about it at the start. You can see his body language relax the more Aerith talks.

There's a reason you're allowed to pick which route you want to go. The "canon" is whatever the hell the player wants it to be. Cloud x Tifa or Cloud x Aerith. Cloud loves both and they both love him. It's honestly as simple as that. Pick who you want him to be with.
At this point in the story, sure. Not so much past the point where Rebirth ends.
Also, there's clearly a reason the outcome is different for each date.
Idk about that when the Devs are basically urging as players to watch and replay all the dates with Cloud and the Gang just to show how Cloud would react and how different the dynamic there is to each member of the gang. And they are also talking about how "Special" Tifa's date was while giggling. So yea take that as you will.

I assumed it was whatever the player chose as canon but they’re saying that the gold saucer dates should be considered as completely separate from the main storyline.

I mean, given that Cloud is missing five years or so of memories, he's 16 mentally. So actually, this is the most appropriate relationship for him.
Too bad the video doesn't include the unique scenes from Aerith's song. Barret's and Yuffie's little scenes are adorable.
9:38 - 9:53 as a clerith shipper, i admit shippers can be crazy. But there is a difference from him bringing aerith up in his tifa date and him bringing tifa up on his aerith date. (Please note, i believe cloud has feelings for both girls and both girls have feelings for cloud). When he brought up aerith to tifa, his conclusion was "she must still have feelings for zack" in a way that i at least interpreted as him being upset. The focus at the end was aerith's feelings. When he brought up tifa to aerith, it was because the whole uncertainty of everything was causing him to distance himself from her. But in a way, it seemed like the focus at the end was moreso zack or(again) aerith's feelings than it was tifa. But of course, this is all just my personal interpretation

If cloud loves aerith too. Why didnt he kiss her? Nothing shows romantic love like a kiss. just think its a clear sign of who the devs prefer. Just my opinion.
Because the Tifa relationship is the legitimate canonical relationship for Cloud as much as people try to deny it. The 3rd game especially will prove this when Tifa has to fix Cloud’s memories in the life stream in Middeal.
There's different types of love! I'm def not complaining on Cloud kissing Tifa, it was one of my fave parts of the game hehe

Because on the Aerith date they talk about Zack, and even though she moves on from that, it doesn’t create the mood for a kiss. It would of felt awkward and rushed if they kissed in that situation. But the interlocking handholding is pretty significant in Japanese culture, and is called “lover’s connection” there.
With Tifa there is no other guy, neither is there any awkwardness as the conversation focuses on them. So a kiss in that moment makes sense, or at least wouldn’t feel awkward or rushed as their connection began way earlier and has no obstacles in the way.
Strangely cloud and arith interact more like friends in the Sequenz after leaving the Gondel

I think they just wanted to hit shippers and do one fan service. All dates are cool and organic except 2 - Tifa and Yuffie. I think they just fan serviced Yuffies. Cloud is suddenly charming and acting like Zack when he met Yuffie? Outta his character. Tifas date could work BUT not at that point of the story. In og Tifa is to shy to confess love and Cloud is oblivious. Generally she makes the move after Aeriths death.
I think this date should be her trying to get close to Cloud but being scared it will f with his mind. In og there is an implied sex scene between her and Cloud but it is after they bought fell into the lifestream. The moment when they would go under the Highwind could be changed to them wanting to go to GS for the last time. The way they get of the gondola gives the feeling something more happened there...
Except Cloud & Tifa's relationship is different in the remakes.
From them having more intimate moments from the start, to Sephiroth actively trying to sow discord in their relationship, to them almost kissing in chapter 9 when Tifa opens up about the Mt. Nibel incident & Cloud opening up about his identity issues.
You have to look at the OG & remakes as their own things. You can't use one to explain the other. It just doesn't work. The devs themselves said that Cloud's relationships with each party member are all unique from eachother, & the dating mechanic was used to showcase how.
@@kez1z Well that would explain a lot since in og in the lifestream Cloud calls out Tifa saying something in line with - we grew up near each other but we NEVER knew each other. That statement shocks Tifa and then Cloud tells all his memories from those days including not liking the other kids showing how awkward he was. In rebirth he acts differently like him being an outcast was because of Tifas accident.

It would make no sense because it had a clear structure to it --> He is sick but loves Aerith. Tifa loves him too but sais nothing. Aerith dies. His mind is fixed. He is with Tifa.
That story made sense. How can I believe Cloud who seats like a stone next to most ppl suddenly acts like Zack? That is not him atm. Also Cloud not romancing any of them makes more sense because:
-generally he is passive
-if he loves them bough he would be passive, no romancing one of them
-in the background every person in the party should be scared shitless for him
Thats why Aeriths date worked for me. She adressed Clouds mind. Tifa shouldn't be oblivious to it. On the other hand Aerith and Cloud are soulmates.
@@Lunar_Fox14 Generally I would say I have disconnect with remakes version of Tifa because..... she is a normal person like irl. And ff7 world is much harsher than ours. Others are over the top. If she kissed Cloud and he accepted it ok. But in that moment not only is he sane, he also goes normal irl person. Dunno maybe it is because he is much more sick in remake and it throws me of.
I think why the devs had Cloud kiss Tifa this early is because one of the "arguments" Aerith shippers used to make was that "Cloud only got with Tifa because Aerith died", which is a pretty disingenuous read on Cloud's character. So, now the fact that he only kisses Tifa, even while Aerith is still around, shows where the real Cloud's heart is.
You misunderstand aerith and cloud connection so much, but it's okay
