Final Fantasy 15 was originally a spinoff title called Final Fantasy Versus 13, but the whole original story got scrapped after negative reception of 13 and outdated software. The whole story got scrapped a second time after system and engine changes, than cut down even more when rushing through the final version of the product. If you go back and watch the old interviews, trailers, articles, leaked footage from say around 2008, you’ll see that 90% of the stuff they showed off and talked about doesn’t exist in the final release at all. A lot of the content that was released in DLC, novels, anime and movies was also originally meant to be in the actual game, but it was all scrapped due to development issues.

Men coming together to face a common evil, supporting each other through their darkest times, remaining loyal, always telling the truth and forgiving each other after fights and disagreements, stepping up for each other when the others are crippled or suffering, knowing when to laugh and have a good time even when times are tough, overcoming trauma and adversity by pushing forward with conviction and brute force, etc. I think FF15 accomplishes its main theme really well. The ending is beautiful and very emotional in spite of the story’s flaws.
Got this game around the time it came out. It was December and I had some left over cash from my 13th Birthday and I thought why not get myself a game from GameStop while my mom was on her millennium long shopping trip. So I told my mom if I could go to GameStop and she gave me to go ahead to go with my older sister making sure I didn’t get lost (this happened often when I was a kid). Whilst I was browsing I saw this game and thought, “Hey I heard a lot of great stuff from Final Fantasy series so why not try this out?” Booted up the game as soon as I got home and I was immediately hooked. For me this was the first time my I experienced a cast of such lovable characters, a story that I was genuinely invested in, and a humongous open world for me to go through. Sure it has its flaws, but I can safely say to this day this game shall always remain as my all time favorite game of all time.
this is awesome thanks for sharing the story! FFXV was the first final fantasy I beat as a kid as well, FF13 was my first one, my brother got it for me but it was too hard for 14 year old me. FFXV on the other hand I got it around christmas time the year it came out and I had an absolute blast with it so I definitely understand.
Same here. I never loved a game as much as FF15 and to this day, no game even came close. I don't think there'll ever be another game in my lifetime that could snatch the #1 place from FF15 in my heart.
Really love how much positive things you have to say about this game. Final Fantasy XV is a rushed, unfinished mess that wastes a lot of its original potential, but it still has so much heart into it, i can't help but feel nostalgic every time it's brought up. Final Fantasy XV is something special. It falls short on a lot of its premises, but even in the forever unfinished state it is, you can feel how much heart this game has, it doesn't deserve all that hate. There is just something very charming about the road trip with the bros, and how real the party feels as people. The combat was very flashy too which i enjoyed how stylish you can combo as Noctis
Summed it up really well. An unfinished disaster with a lot of heart and soul. I still love it in spite of all its flaws, and mourn over how much potential was lost at the same time.
I think for newcomers, the series is best experienced in reverse order. 16 and 15 are really good games. Then I went back to play 13, and it was a breath of fresh air.

I'd like to make a few corrections: First of all, minor thing: link-strikes are activated after a parry not "when characters attack together". Also you need to have either a Sword, Longsword or Polearm to trigger them. Ranking in battle doesn't quite work like that: Time is, well, how much time you take; but Finesse requires you to do several Parry and Blindsides (without triggering links). To get a A+ you must get either 6 Blindsides or 4 Parries (either of, not a combination of the two because FFXV is weird like that) and finally Offense is how many enemies YOU kill. Enfasis on YOU. Noctis (the player) must deal the final blow for it to count. Also, where exactly did you find out about "higher ranking giving more EXP"? People have been throwing this around for a very long time but I could never find out any sources about it. From my experience, rank doesn't really give you anything (unless you have some DLC accessories that give APs for A+). If you notice any "bonus EXP" from fights, it depends on your level. Being underlevelled gives you more EXP.
But it is. Only conditions is to watch all the cross content in perfect order (movies + the 2 anime) and play the Royal version (NOT THE DAY ONE VERSION) while, once again, do all dlcs in perfect timing/order with the story. Only then you could live the story as best as possible and understand why he said that in this video. Totally agree that it is a hassle to manage all that rather that just playing the game "normally" but fuck, so much worth it..! My day one run was so-so, but my second run doing all the above and on PC 4k 120fps was like playing just a TOTALLY different game. Totally the point it became one of my fav FF, and I play the licence since ff VI.
I started 15 again leading up to 16s release. As far as i remember on on chapter 7 or 8 and stopped playing while i was trying to max out fishing and catching legendarys lol. Besides finishing the game, my only other trophies are fishing, cooking and survival. Then the plan is to tackle all the trophies for the various dlcs. THEN hopefully i can get the rest of trophies for comrades😂 Started FF mode in 16 and it made me want to go back and finish 15
best of luck! if you are going for every trophy on playstation for FF15 you actually can't get them all because the trophies for the multiplayer mode also exists in the trophy list for FF15 but you can't play that built in version of the multiplayer anymore so you can never truly see 100% trophies on your copy of FF15

No, you don't unless it's a direct sequel like FFX/X-2, FFXIII Trilogy, or Compilation of Final Fantasy VII (Remake and Rebirth some how in that mess) you don't need to. It's like Doctor Who, best time to jump into the franchise is either a recommended game / season or when a new Doctor or game comes out.
FFXV deserved better and I don't mean the reception it got. It just felt like fate hated this game, What is kinda ironic considering the games story and the DLC story
If Final Fantasy XV warrants a remake, it should also aim to transform Kingsglaive into a cohesive and essential element of the overall experience. Rather than treating it as merely a standalone film, expansion, or DLC, the remake should integrate Kingsglaive as a fully integral and meaningful part of Final Fantasy XV's narrative and gameplay.
me, with over 100 hours of time in my third or fourth playthrough, and still searching for whatever the last hunt i need to complete because my quest log is glitched. "eh, its ok. pretty good. but definitely could use some bug fixes and balancing."
@@Gluemn o finished them all except 16 wich is where I finally stopped playing FF for nostalgia, it really was the only reason I played them and after spending years joking thay FF was trying to be devil may cry they went full devil may cry and I just couldnt play it anymore. And I own devil may cry, i like it, but Nomura killed FF to be a copy of another game, it really is sad to see.
@@Gluemn XII has no character development at all, it does have story and some people like it but i dont either, only ashe and bash have development, and vaan and penelo pretty much dont exist outside of combat. That one is an odd one, i like it but its a very diferent breed.
This seems like a pretty interesting game. I think I would like the exploration part the most since this Final Fantasy seems more open to explore based off the games in the series I have played. I do like how they added DLC so you can play as multiple characters for more variety. A little worried about the combat, but I think I will give it a shot in the future! Great game. I wish it was finished, though. One thing is considering how it starts, i thought running out of fuel would have been something that actually happened easily, but i never did, lol 😅
I never played a single FF game before this one and I only finished it like yesterday. I can 100% see why this game is so controversial among FF fans. Pretty decent game. Even if some aspects were a long, boring slog (like the end game chapter where you fight the same demon possessed robot dudes for an hour, or the 5 something completely redundant and nearly indentical boss fights in the last chapter). Or some parts that made me really scratch my head (going in I didn't expect Lunafreya to be a cutscene exclusive jobber who has like 15 minutes of screentime. Or how much of the dev period could have been cut if they didn't focus on making a kinda unnecessary open world)
In my case I've been playing Final Fantasy games for over 30 years. As a person who grew up playing Final Fantasy games, FF15 just was not for me. Bland empty world, mind numbingly dumb combat with no depth, characters that I don't remember the names of anymore and it needed DLC to give them depth, fragmented story that was not told within its own game, bad writing, a main heroine with 10-15 minutes of screentime, no puzzles to solve, etc. If 15 is your first ever FF I can understand the attachment and people could think it's good when they have no other experience with the brand but when you're a veteran FF player it feels like anything but an FF game. FF15 is the least FF-like game in the series and just wasn't the game for me. I'm not a hater of it and it's interesting to learn other experiences as a lot of people liked this game. 15 was definitely a successful game that sold well but people were really starved for a new FF game when 15 came out and the brand was well-trusted. I believe 15 hurt the brand and left a sour taste in a lot of mouths and this in turn hurt 16 and the 7 Remake series later on.
@@jesse1381 the brand was damaged since they released that shitty movie of FF7 that left Square in bankrupt. After that, Square Enix got rid of FF and they released FF12 (that no one liked at that moment) and FF13 (same case of 12 but a lot worst). So, when FF15 was released the brand was already completely damaged. FFVII Rebirth was a failure because of how shitty FF7 Remake was, and FF16 was sabotaged by the old fans with their criticism. Final Fantasy is in transition to find what they want to do, so they try new things with every entry, but old fans totally hate new FF games, while new fans love them. Now they had to decide what kind of fans they want for the franchise.
I really do not understand the hate for this game. World, characters and story is great. Storytelling is bad, i agree. They shouldn't have split it up between different media and should have told all of the story in the game. However still an insane adventure and my favourite Final Fantasy. Maybe they rework it someday and make a big open world in which the entire story is told.

Once watching Super Eyepatch Wolf's video, one can never look at it the same again. Rushed is the nicest thing one can say. There's also a great video comparing FFX and FFXV's love story and boy ol' boy does it make FFXV look really stupid.
I think one of the biggest problems with XV's combat is that it's entirely possible to succeed while ignoring 90% of it. One particular free-DLC weapon makes warp spamming almost irresistibly optimal, which results in the base combat feeling highly samey and turns one particular boss fight a boring slog with an out-of-control camera. If you play with level/money/curative/DLC-weapon restrictions, it becomes more obvious that the combat system is primarily positional, as link strikes and back attacks become more necessary to do meaningful damage. And if you're a challenge gamer pushing yourself to your limits, aspects like perfect dodges and the weapon-specific special attacks that the game never actually explains come into their own. With that said, I think it's always been the case that Final Fantasy games can be played with little more than Attack and Potion/Cure commands for those who did sufficient grinding, and single-player Final Fantasy games beyond XIII have even removed grinding from the equation. XIII's paradigm shift system was interesting and allowed battles to be finished very quickly if utilized, but the biggest complaints about the game's battle system came from players who didn't use it and ended up feeling like fights took forever as a result. And XVI's battle system seems to be better-liked, but I found it really bland because the optimal low-risk way to play involved spamming minute-long special attacks with invincibility frames.
i honestly agree with this for the most part, it is always interesting seeing how other people perceive these games, speaking of ffxiii my favorite game of all time actually is xiii-2. it just sucks a lot of people have likely never played it because they swore off xiii when they played it
Im playing it now. The combat is fun. The moves are a bit too complicated for me to get higher score so i just mash the attack button but i wish the driving was less boring. I want to crash into other cars like gta and saints row lol!

They just parrot baseless complaints about the game that they saw on the internet and want to hop on that certain wagon that was also mentioned in the video at 24:25. Same here, brother. I agree on one hand it would have been great to get the rest of the DLCs cuz more FFXV content would always be welcome, but on the other hand what those DLCs would have done is just force the story to have a banal happy ending because of stupid fan "backlash". I guess I might belong in the minority but I absolutely loved the ending; admittedly I'm a sucker for these bittersweet martyrdom type of endings where not all the good guys get to live ever after - it adds so much more weight to the overall story. Altough IF they did do those stories, I'd much rather like it to be its own full game called Versus XV or something like that. Hell, they could even pull ideas from what was gonna be Versus XIII so that all the people still clinging to that concept of a game could finally shut up lmao.
never complete garbage. it got high demand because was supposed be versus 13. original writer/ dirctor got replaced by a hack who xhanged story. it was about two two main characters on opposing sides but really get close. instead of stella we got weak fragile luna.

If I were a billionaire, I'd easily pay square millions to come back to this game. That's how much 15 means to me. It's unfortunate that those DLC weren't finished. I want to try this game on PC, but I've never owned a PC, nor do I know how to build one. I'd love some advice on good gaming PC's if you know.
im glad you enjoy 15 as much as i do, as far as gaming pc's it really just depends what you are in the market for but i feel currently a pre built is decent enough
worst FFXV made. Frustrating and fragmented story. The movie doesn't complement the game at all. In fact, it contradicts it. Despite the four being friends, the dialogues are very superficial. Empty open world. Repetitive monsters and quests. Characters without charisma and development. Luna being the biggest example. A horrible car travel simulator. Confusing, unbalanced combat. Music out of context. Riding a chocobo is sickening. Problematic development, and that's no excuse for such a poorly made product.
The premise that nowadays "people generally don't like the game anymore..." is simply untrue. The game sits at pretty much the same rating it did when it released and the people who (still) dislike it are a vocal minority. Its 8/10 Steam score is pretty fair given that the game, despite telling a fantastic story, definitely suffers from some pacing issues, questionable gameplay design choices and has some of the worst side Quests I've experienced in a game. That being said, despite its flaws, it's still my favorite Final Fantasy game, because it does one thing exceptionally well, tell a compelling story which makes me care about the characters and their fate, something which not many RPGs are able to achieve.
@@Gluemn It's none of them. There is nothing good about friendship or roadtrip simulator. The protagonist's father dies and his friends sing chocobo song to express how happy they are as friends. This game makes zero sense. And you fight this lady as if she is a villain and 5 min later they are friends with no explanation. It is an absolute mess.

Having a hard road ahead doesn't mean you can't enjoy the moment. It's one of the central themes. in the Lyrics of "Choosing Hope": Living life knowing that we must die Loving until the end Choosing hope when all hope has seemed lost And believing in the strength of our friends "And you fight this lady as if she is a villain and 5 min later they are friends with no explanation." Aranea is a mercenary for the enemy at the start and by the end is helping the King of Light. Why would she remain aligned with Niflheim when it is as corrupt as it is? She does actually mention this in game but I wouldn't blame you for missing it because this stuff is mentioned in a single line and glossed over in Chapter 7. The game isn't trying to explain everything, its trying to remain grounded. I thought the story was crap the first time through. On replays I realised how much of it is told to you in the first half of the game, you are just too busy taking in the sights to put things together. Occasionally Promto asks a question as if he is the audience who knows nothing about the situation, and the others fill him in.
Nah , i beat it twice once at launch and once when all the dlc was out , yeah i don't like this game as a final fantasy at all. Such a shit magic system, only 4 party members, horribly lame combat (Hold attack and spam warp strike when ready), a potion will pick up a chartacter from being down (Dont need pheonix downs) , i could go on but the ONLY thing i give it props for is the music.
Magic serves multiple functions and can affect the environment, such as freezing enemies and the party in water. Having a limited party is not inherently bad, especially considering that they each have more time for their individual characteristics to be fleshed out. Remeber, the Final Fantasy 1 and 3 only had four party members. 2 had three permanent members and 5 largely only had four members until one of them was replaced. You can just hold the attack button, or you can utilize the fact that every weapon type has different move sets and directional combos. Every character has wildly different move sets. You can strategize when and where to attack in order to initiate a link-strike. Use weapon types optimally since enemies will have different strengths and weaknesses. You'll also need to consider there techniques of your allies and when it's best to use said techniques. Also, spam warp-strike are a bad idea unless you know what you're doing. Potions won't take you out a "downed state", they will take you out of a danger state. Pheonix downs are absolutely necessary in the late game in order to revive party members. Maybe before criticism a game for its systems, you should actually engage with said systems to know how they actually work.
@Sam-lf3hn I mean, I do have all the achievements and did everything in the game (Yes I will complete a game even if I don't like it so my opinion can't be thrown away by "You didn't play enough") I do absolutely love the no combat dungeon that was awesome, the penultimate dungeon(No items) was easy due to black robe so that one was meh imo. The lack of spells is a huge problem imo especially with how many awesome spells were in 12 .

As for the lack of spells, I'd argue that their is plenty of variety from dps, area of affect, poison, healing, debufffing enemies, freeze enemies, death, and exp increases. Furthermore, spells often affected the environment. Blizzard spells freeze water and can lock both you and enemies in place if your in water when the spell is cast. Thunder spells can stun anyone if your in water and fire spells can burn grass. You clearly did not engage with the mechanics of the game, especially when it came to weapon move sets, character move sets and spell crafting.
No thanks. But at least XV has characters that look like actual FF characters, so it's still more appealing than FFXVI. FFIX was the last really great Final Fantasy.

It’s a good game i am enjoying it, bought it 2 week ago. But the story was rushed out so far, it could been better. The characters are likable, the friend field trip is a nice touch. I am already at chapter 4 i have 24 hours already lol and i am level 65. I don’t know how much chapters there is. Playing the royal edition. Yeah people definitely should play this game and try out, it’s not for everyone but so far i am enjoying it. Thanks for the video.
@@Mat_D87 Side missions, oracle coins, those coins merging with magic, killing cactus every 12 minutes. It’s really not that hard, just farming i have now 400k exp with me. Just farm, do side missions, using database coins there is plenty of side missions at chapter 3. You can farm total like 150k and then sleep at inn that gives double exp. Done.
I really enjoyed this game. Anything that plays fun and satisfying and drives traffic to rule34 is a winner in my book.

From my experience, rank doesn't really give you anything (unless you have some DLC accessories that give APs for A+). If you notice any "bonus EXP" from fights, it depends on your level. Being underlevelled gives you more EXP.
To say 15 is one of the best stories to come out of the FF series is absolutely insane lol
But it is. Only conditions is to watch all the cross content in perfect order (movies + the 2 anime) and play the Royal version (NOT THE DAY ONE VERSION) while, once again, do all dlcs in perfect timing/order with the story. Only then you could live the story as best as possible and understand why he said that in this video.
Totally agree that it is a hassle to manage all that rather that just playing the game "normally" but fuck, so much worth it..!
My day one run was so-so, but my second run doing all the above and on PC 4k 120fps was like playing just a TOTALLY different game. Totally the point it became one of my fav FF, and I play the licence since ff VI.

I started 15 again leading up to 16s release. As far as i remember on on chapter 7 or 8 and stopped playing while i was trying to max out fishing and catching legendarys lol.
Besides finishing the game, my only other trophies are fishing, cooking and survival. Then the plan is to tackle all the trophies for the various dlcs. THEN hopefully i can get the rest of trophies for comrades😂 Started FF mode in 16 and it made me want to go back and finish 15
best of luck! if you are going for every trophy on playstation for FF15 you actually can't get them all because the trophies for the multiplayer mode also exists in the trophy list for FF15 but you can't play that built in version of the multiplayer anymore so you can never truly see 100% trophies on your copy of FF15

No, you don't unless it's a direct sequel like FFX/X-2, FFXIII Trilogy, or Compilation of Final Fantasy VII (Remake and Rebirth some how in that mess) you don't need to. It's like Doctor Who, best time to jump into the franchise is either a recommended game / season or when a new Doctor or game comes out.
FFXV deserved better and I don't mean the reception it got. It just felt like fate hated this game, What is kinda ironic considering the games story and the DLC story

Rather than treating it as merely a standalone film, expansion, or DLC, the remake should integrate Kingsglaive as a fully integral and meaningful part of Final Fantasy XV's narrative and gameplay.

@@Gluemn o finished them all except 16 wich is where I finally stopped playing FF for nostalgia, it really was the only reason I played them and after spending years joking thay FF was trying to be devil may cry they went full devil may cry and I just couldnt play it anymore. And I own devil may cry, i like it, but Nomura killed FF to be a copy of another game, it really is sad to see.
@@Gluemn XII has no character development at all, it does have story and some people like it but i dont either, only ashe and bash have development, and vaan and penelo pretty much dont exist outside of combat. That one is an odd one, i like it but its a very diferent breed.

This seems like a pretty interesting game. I think I would like the exploration part the most since this Final Fantasy seems more open to explore based off the games in the series I have played. I do like how they added DLC so you can play as multiple characters for more variety. A little worried about the combat, but I think I will give it a shot in the future! Which platform do you recommend to play this on?

I never played a single FF game before this one and I only finished it like yesterday. I can 100% see why this game is so controversial among FF fans.
Pretty decent game. Even if some aspects were a long, boring slog (like the end game chapter where you fight the same demon possessed robot dudes for an hour, or the 5 something completely redundant and nearly indentical boss fights in the last chapter). Or some parts that made me really scratch my head (going in I didn't expect Lunafreya to be a cutscene exclusive jobber who has like 15 minutes of screentime. Or how much of the dev period could have been cut if they didn't focus on making a kinda unnecessary open world)
In my case I've been playing Final Fantasy games for over 30 years. As a person who grew up playing Final Fantasy games, FF15 just was not for me. Bland empty world, mind numbingly dumb combat with no depth, characters that I don't remember the names of anymore and it needed DLC to give them depth, fragmented story that was not told within its own game, bad writing, a main heroine with 10-15 minutes of screentime, no puzzles to solve, etc.
If 15 is your first ever FF I can understand the attachment and people could think it's good when they have no other experience with the brand but when you're a veteran FF player it feels like anything but an FF game. FF15 is the least FF-like game in the series and just wasn't the game for me.
I'm not a hater of it and it's interesting to learn other experiences as a lot of people liked this game. 15 was definitely a successful game that sold well but people were really starved for a new FF game when 15 came out and the brand was well-trusted. I believe 15 hurt the brand and left a sour taste in a lot of mouths and this in turn hurt 16 and the 7 Remake series later on.
@@jesse1381 the brand was damaged since they released that shitty movie of FF7 that left Square in bankrupt. After that, Square Enix got rid of FF and they released FF12 (that no one liked at that moment) and FF13 (same case of 12 but a lot worst). So, when FF15 was released the brand was already completely damaged.
FFVII Rebirth was a failure because of how shitty FF7 Remake was, and FF16 was sabotaged by the old fans with their criticism.
Final Fantasy is in transition to find what they want to do, so they try new things with every entry, but old fans totally hate new FF games, while new fans love them. Now they had to decide what kind of fans they want for the franchise.
I really do not understand the hate for this game. World, characters and story is great. Storytelling is bad, i agree. They shouldn't have split it up between different media and should have told all of the story in the game. However still an insane adventure and my favourite Final Fantasy. Maybe they rework it someday and make a big open world in which the entire story is told.
Suffers from the same thing as FF16. A great combat system that does a poor job of teaching it and does nothing to push the player to actually learn it
I've tried a few times to get into this game, because I love Final Fantasy, but combat is so mind-numbingly boring, I just can't do it.
Once watching Super Eyepatch Wolf's video, one can never look at it the same again.

I think one of the biggest problems with XV's combat is that it's entirely possible to succeed while ignoring 90% of it. One particular free-DLC weapon makes warp spamming almost irresistibly optimal, which results in the base combat feeling highly samey and turns one particular boss fight a boring slog with an out-of-control camera.
If you play with level/money/curative/DLC-weapon restrictions, it becomes more obvious that the combat system is primarily positional, as link strikes and back attacks become more necessary to do meaningful damage. And if you're a challenge gamer pushing yourself to your limits, aspects like perfect dodges and the weapon-specific special attacks that the game never actually explains come into their own.
With that said, I think it's always been the case that Final Fantasy games can be played with little more than Attack and Potion/Cure commands for those who did sufficient grinding, and single-player Final Fantasy games beyond XIII have even removed grinding from the equation. XIII's paradigm shift system was interesting and allowed battles to be finished very quickly if utilized, but the biggest complaints about the game's battle system came from players who didn't use it and ended up feeling like fights took forever as a result. And XVI's battle system seems to be better-liked, but I found it really bland because the optimal low-risk way to play involved spamming minute-long special attacks with invincibility frames.
i honestly agree with this for the most part, it is always interesting seeing how other people perceive these games, speaking of ffxiii my favorite game of all time actually is xiii-2. it just sucks a lot of people have likely never played it because they swore off xiii when they played it

Im playing it now. The combat is fun. The moves are a bit too complicated for me to get higher score so i just mash the attack button but i wish the driving was less boring. I want to crash into other cars like gta and saints row lol!

Same here, brother. I agree on one hand it would have been great to get the rest of the DLCs cuz more FFXV content would always be welcome, but on the other hand what those DLCs would have done is just force the story to have a banal happy ending because of stupid fan "backlash". I guess I might belong in the minority but I absolutely loved the ending; admittedly I'm a sucker for these bittersweet martyrdom type of endings where not all the good guys get to live ever after - it adds so much more weight to the overall story. Altough IF they did do those stories, I'd much rather like it to be its own full game called Versus XV or something like that. Hell, they could even pull ideas from what was gonna be Versus XIII so that all the people still clinging to that concept of a game could finally shut up lmao.

Despite the four being friends, the dialogues are very superficial.
Empty open world. Repetitive monsters and quests.
Characters without charisma and development.

A horrible car travel simulator.
Confusing, unbalanced combat.
Music out of context.
Riding a chocobo is sickening.
Problematic development, and that's no excuse for such a poorly made product.

The premise that nowadays "people generally don't like the game anymore..." is simply untrue. The game sits at pretty much the same rating it did when it released and the people who (still) dislike it are a vocal minority. Its 8/10 Steam score is pretty fair given that the game, despite telling a fantastic story, definitely suffers from some pacing issues, questionable gameplay design choices and has some of the worst side Quests I've experienced in a game.
That being said, despite its flaws, it's still my favorite Final Fantasy game, because it does one thing exceptionally well, tell a compelling story which makes me care about the characters and their fate, something which not many RPGs are able to achieve.
I've played almost every FF since 1998 and I belive that XV is among the best

Aranea is a mercenary for the enemy at the start and by the end is helping the King of Light. Why would she remain aligned with Niflheim when it is as corrupt as it is? She does actually mention this in game but I wouldn't blame you for missing it because this stuff is mentioned in a single line and glossed over in Chapter 7. The game isn't trying to explain everything, its trying to remain grounded.
I thought the story was crap the first time through. On replays I realised how much of it is told to you in the first half of the game, you are just too busy taking in the sights to put things together. Occasionally Promto asks a question as if he is the audience who knows nothing about the situation, and the others fill him in.
Nah , i beat it twice once at launch and once when all the dlc was out , yeah i don't like this game as a final fantasy at all.
Such a shit magic system, only 4 party members, horribly lame combat (Hold attack and spam warp strike when ready), a potion will pick up a chartacter from being down (Dont need pheonix downs) , i could go on but the ONLY thing i give it props for is the music.
Magic serves multiple functions and can affect the environment, such as freezing enemies and the party in water.
Having a limited party is not inherently bad, especially considering that they each have more time for their individual characteristics to be fleshed out.
Remeber, the Final Fantasy 1 and 3 only had four party members. 2 had three permanent members and 5 largely only had four members until one of them was replaced.
You can just hold the attack button, or you can utilize the fact that every weapon type has different move sets and directional combos.
Every character has wildly different move sets.
You can strategize when and where to attack in order to initiate a link-strike.
Use weapon types optimally since enemies will have different strengths and weaknesses.
You'll also need to consider there techniques of your allies and when it's best to use said techniques. Also, spam warp-strike are a bad idea unless you know what you're doing.
Potions won't take you out a "downed state", they will take you out of a danger state. Pheonix downs are absolutely necessary in the late game in order to revive party members.
Maybe before criticism a game for its systems, you should actually engage with said systems to know how they actually work.

I do absolutely love the no combat dungeon that was awesome, the penultimate dungeon(No items) was easy due to black robe so that one was meh imo.
The lack of spells is a huge problem imo especially with how many awesome spells were in 12 .

As for the lack of spells, I'd argue that their is plenty of variety from dps, area of affect, poison, healing, debufffing enemies, freeze enemies, death, and exp increases.
Furthermore, spells often affected the environment. Blizzard spells freeze water and can lock both you and enemies in place if your in water when the spell is cast. Thunder spells can stun anyone if your in water and fire spells can burn grass.
You clearly did not engage with the mechanics of the game, especially when it came to weapon move sets, character move sets and spell crafting.

It’s a good game i am enjoying it, bought it 2 week ago. But the story was rushed out so far, it could been better. The characters are likable, the friend field trip is a nice touch. I am already at chapter 4 i have 24 hours already lol and i am level 65. I don’t know how much chapters there is. Playing the royal edition. Yeah people definitely should play this game and try out, it’s not for everyone but so far i am enjoying it. Thanks for the video.

@@Mat_D87 Side missions, oracle coins, those coins merging with magic, killing cactus every 12 minutes. It’s really not that hard, just farming i have now 400k exp with me. Just farm, do side missions, using database coins there is plenty of side missions at chapter 3. You can farm total like 150k and then sleep at inn that gives double exp. Done.
