Olga is perfect for her! I love how much you love her. :) Nice pour. Nice ingredients. When you do another banana-themed soap, I would love to see what you do with banana powder. It creates the prettiest little speckles. I got the idea a few years ago from a soaper who isn't on UA-cam any more but her idea lives on!

For anyone in the US and making small batches of soap or just want to experiment with it once or twice, The Dollar Tree has colloidal oats. It comes like oatmeal packets, I think 3 in a box for $1.25.

This are gorgeous!!!! Ellen regarding the colloidal oats, I read an article that explains that basically if you can grain the oats to a fine powder you have the colloidal oats , “To make colloidal oatmeal you can start with regular oatmeal. Put 1 cup oatmeal into a blender, coffee grinder, or food processor and grind it into a fine, consistent powder. If the oatmeal isn't fine enough, it won't mix into the water
And that is basically what I am doing using my Vitamix , but I am still listed on my ingredients as powdered oats or ground oatmeal, just in case any claim. I use it on my soaps, lotions and scrubs with no issues and you can save some money and know exactly what is in there
    Thank you for sharing Ellen

Hi Ellen! Loving watching your channel. thanks for explaining about the coloidal oats. I was wondering if you could teach us about adding sugar and other things to the lye water. What’s that for? Also, how to you calculate the water discount if you’re adding milk and others additives? Thank you so much 😊

Hey sweetie! I know you're well aware of this, but I forgot to say a few years ago a fellow soaper told me to only use "Old Fashioned Oats" with my soap, because the "Quick Oats" will cook in my Goat Milk Soap (I add sugars too). I never thought about it before she mentioned it ☺ I love a banana smell!! I'm gonna have to try this one too! Now I'm craving chocolate covered bananas!! 🤤🤤🤤 I come up with these desert ideas after watching your channel 😂 Hubby always wonders where I come up with them. I'll throw some names out in a few. I love the pattern on the inside! For suggestions for the soap cutter- the color of it gives that 50’s retro vibe- Patsy, Marylin, Donna, Gidget, I also thought of Laverne or Shirley, cute names. For Russian names- Katarina or Natasha! Love choosing names for things! So fun. Can’t wait to hear what you chose. Robyn- @seraphimsoaps)

Hey ! I’m still fairly new to soapmaking and I had a question. When using kaolin clay or colloidal oats do I have to alter anything in the recipe? For example if I’m using 2 tablespoons of anything I can just go ahead and add it straight into my oils? TIA

Hi! How are you? my name is Soledad, I'm from Argentina, first tell you that I love your channel and all your videos !! I contacted you this time to ask you a question, I have made a well balanced recipe and obtained a perfect trace, it is assumed that my soap had a design with 3 colors, so before dividing the trace to color, I added the fragrance, a 3 % and I did not have time for anything !! it cut me off and started to leak! a disaster! it was horrible. So I need your knowledge to guide me, is there a way to delay the acceleration of the trace when it is added? can it be diluted for example? what can be done? I would appreciate giving me some advice about it! A hug!

    • @EllenRuthSoap

How did you spell that. I looked up Olga and it said it was of old Norse and Scandinavian origin. I looked it up because my husband, who is part Swedish, said he thought it was swedish 😉) So I was curiuos, because I like the name, also. It said it means blessed, successful, holy)
Under Wikipedia it seems more universal, but doesn't say where originally. Love the name, regardless. 👍 😍
I have to try the oat powder you use. I got mine off of amazon, also. It is for those types that work out a lot, but is kind of expensive.
