It was very inspiring to see your guest speak. I need to speak more. Also my listening isn’t bad but not as good as I wanted. I also feel the struggle of forgetting Chinese easily if not practised compared to English

Yes, speaking is the key! You can maybe notice that I do make some mistakes (word order and tones), but in 99 % cases people understand! Good luck with your studies! 加油!

@ I appreciate your comment. I hope my Chinese will improve. I would like to be fluent. I have been self studying for many years, put a lot of effort, but only during the last year I started having classes with a Chinese tutor. I also enrolled in the pronunciation course by Rita before and didn’t complete it but I need to pick it up again. Pronunciation is very important for Chinese. Recently I’m also trying an app for conversation that uses AI and while it doesn’t replace a real teacher, I see it can be useful for squeeze in some extra practice during my free time, also without being afraid of making mistakes and be judged by someone :)

@ well I don’t know as many words as you do, so I was listening carefully trying to understand but I didn’t spot your mistakes :) you sound pretty fluent, well done

@@fabiothebest89lu As I mention in the video - I also went just through half of the course myself - the game changer was the bootcamp. And now I return to the videos every now and then, when I feel like brushing up on something.

Haha, when I attended the chinese course at ChuanDa, the pronounciation teacher couldnt properly speak standard mandarin.
It was very frustrating, and soon I skipped that class.
Now a hundred years later, I am about to restart my chinese studies.
    Wish me good luck!

Yeah, that's a big issue in Sichuan! Haha, but I'm glad I'm also used to not standard mandarin :))

@@cinstinasrenatou I should add that the pronounciation class was at 8:oo in the morning, which didn't mix well with the SuShe lifestyle...
At the time the biggest scare was to lose the chinese/english/chinese dictionary or travel booklet..... although it was difficult(very) to use, it did contain some sentences and examples. The dictionaries you could find in Chengdu was to little or no help. As a near beginner, even if you looked up every single character in an unknown sentence, most of the time you wouldn't be able to even know the subject of a paragraph. and only in jinjiang hotel could you find an english paper and english map. and withdraw chinese money. Taking a bike ride over to jinjiang, was the almost daily "joy of the day". And very sweaty it was.
Next to JinJiangHotel there even was a Dinos hamburger🙂. But my favourite food was most definitely GuoKuiNiuRou at GongHeLu . One day I will go back to search for it... but I have been told there was only 2 restaurants ever serving it and there is a 999% chance they are long gone.
      I will forever miss GuokuiNiuRou
Next step in my new learning adventure is to find a way to install a chinese keyboard on this computer. One that doesn't mess with the normal keyboard.

I’m sure for her profession as a teacher in Czechia it’s plenty fine but her Mandarin isn’t great. Accent issue is minor and almost entirely tonal, which is fine, but the word choice is still quite awkward - in fact I would say in many places simply incorrect.
