You know what I just realized watching this now, you've grown to be better than the current Top Gear presenters. I fast-forward through much of their talking, but enjoy listening to your opinion.
I love the design of this car, its truly modern, it reminds me of fighter jets, the front is shaped like an arrow, the "Eye Sockets" add depth and personality to the front end in a way that the 2D flat headlamps don't. I loved their logo headlight design as well. I personally believe that those calling this car ugly are probably the ones who believe the E-Type is pretty. And while there is no doubt that it is, they seem to be stuck in time because I believe the design language adopted by McLaren is a glimpse into the future of car design.
Figure of speech of people who have no clue what a light year is. Just because you have heard a few morons say that before doesnt make it a "figure of speech".
As always Alex, you reviews are on point. I still am challenged by this car and its design but you manage to make me really think about this one. Who knows! We shall see if I am turned.
Cody Goins I get your point! But why go so far as to referencing "nike," instead of the McLearn emblem or logo, in describing the headlights of the other McLaren supercars? I, mean, many automotive journalists have pointed out that McLaren took inspiration from the its own logo, in designing those headlights.
Tyran Mathurin I know it's the McLaren logo, but the Nike logo is a much more recognizable logo to most of the world than McLaren's and the average person is going to think of an upside down swoosh rather than the McLaren logo. That and I think the ugliness of them makes it necessary to bash the design by calling it something it's not
Brosefv I was in the same predicament regarding the headlights. But, they quickly grew on me. And, now, I absolutely love them. The thing is, it usually takes a while for us to appreciate something is different/unique; Something that we're not used to seeing. But, I think McLaren really did a great job with those headlights and overall design of the 720s. The 720s is now my favorite supercar.
Thank you Alex for reviewing this stunning piece of technology for all of us who will probably never afford it - but your way of telling us how good it is makes up for this :) Keep up the great work, you and the team, it's always a pleasure to watch!
This is such a beautiful piece of engineering.. They've taken everything from the 675LT and P1 and put it together in a way that is better than both of them
When I first saw this car I didn't like the look of it, but now that I've had a chance to see it again and again in different videos its starting to grow on me. Especially in this color. Thanks.
LOVE the new headlights. That's right. I said it. And to be frank, I always thought that the old logo lights were an ugly, shameless gimmick that ruined the front end. You had these beautifully sculpted supercars with front bumpers/lights that looked like two birds necks facing each other. Totally contrived and not an organic part of the design. The new headlights are actually in line with the McLaren aesthetic, instead of being a marketing stunt.
Noah Covell I kinda agree. The old headlights only looked good on the P1. The 650s, not so much. These are good too bit the body is just magnificently sculpted.
Idk I feel the opposite way. I love how all of the older Mclarens look, even the logo shaped lights. The 720S looks amazing from certain angles but weird from others and a lot of that has to do with the headlights in my opinion. However it is the most futuristic car I've ever seen, it is literally the perfect movie car lol!
Nah.. this car looks great, but the logo headlights looked so damn good. Some of the best headlight configuration I've ever seen. I think you meant tail lights.. because omg they were ugly on the 12c, 650s, 675lt, and the rear end of the 540c and 570s/gt are despicable. 720s is looking good though
Took me a while to become a fan of the eye socket headlight housing (the most divisive thing about the styling imo) but it's cool that it's actually part of the front end aero, not just a design element, and overall the car looks stunning and I'm sure drives no less so in person.
I think from the reviews this car is what almost all the manufacturers are trying to create something you can take to the track that can be fun and a nice ride home
if it wasn't for jjw I would think the McLaren's don't make any good sounds stock what mode do you have to put it in so it pops and bangs and sounds good? and then seen through glass with his larini exhaust on his 5:40 they did nothing to show off the sound of this car
You realize how good these reviews are when the embargo is lifted and you can directly compare them with the rest. Great job and obviously an amazing car! Although I don't like the front :p But I love the rear!
With the 488 pista being the first special series with a turbo engine it’s quite special but who knows what out of this world thing mclaren will build with the performance version of this
Awesome review! Finally a car jounalist/vlogger that didn't say the 720s lacked 'soul', i mean, compared to what? a 488GTB? a 911 turbo s? ... i think, without having had the opportunity to drive and own one just yet, it appears to have a shitload of soul to me.
Isn't it one of those cars for which everyone was a little disappointed with the looks when it was presented but now everyone loves it? personally I didn't like it at first but now it's really growing on me
Great review as always, with nary a track in sight yet. But on the topic of the excellent visibility, will you at Carfection remember to note how much of this is lost when you inevitably drive the spider version? Because if it is like the previous cars, the answer is - quite a lot. Always find it a paradox when the coupe is the prettiest, the lightest, and the most usable (that visibility thing...) yet the masses want the guillotined version. 😩
A++++ video as usual. I still think this guy should be on Top Gear, but maybe they're sticking it out to have this one gain in popularity. Remember to post these to /r/cars on reddit.
excellent as expected. Interesting professional car reviewers love the car. Every day knowledgeable you tube car people love the performance but would not trade in there current supercar for this even they say this is better but lacking something
While awesome, every other McLaren looked like the quintessential cliche of a sports car every kid grew up playing with. Finally, the 720s looks 'different', and combined with all that incredible tech I freaking LOVE it.
slayclops - i find a) the design of it not good looking and then b) at least from that camera footage at least the display looks pale. all in all i think this car will be a more controversial one. some people will love it, some will not like it, mainly because of the front.
I get why you guys say it's hideous but I think the front looks aggressive and pleasing to my eyes. I think the holes will make it unique compared to the other competing. I just like McLaren because I mostly see Ferraris and Lambos, which sometimes shows that they have no variety other following the trend
Little mistake - Ferrari sold road cars to fund the war on the circuit, they didn't go racing to make their road cars better. You could argue they do now and have been for a while, but back in the day Enzo didn't give 2 hoots about their road cars, they existed specifcally to fund the racing
Ferrari took 3 years to make a competitor in the form of the 488 pista. Which does not have mclaren's cross linked hydraulic suspension and carbon fibre tub. Also it's not daily drivable. And the interior feels like it came from stone age.

Epic job as always gents! You just made everyone on earth want one of these!
Salomondrin hey man!! Greetings from México 🇲🇽 you make my days better #salomondrin #svipe
lol , i like how your comment is getting lost , it will be top in hours
Salomondrin- Eyy why don't you have a verified checkmark? lol
Salomondrin hi
salo have a good day! 👍
The cost prediction went way into the other direction! They really started to appreciate.

Murtaza Rizvi very well said. Respect 👍🏻
McLaren designers are light years ahead of their time. It'll take a while for the mass to digest the lines of this masterpiece.
Light year is a measure of distance
Its also a figure of speech, smart guy ;D
Figure of speech of people who have no clue what a light year is. Just because you have heard a few morons say that before doesnt make it a "figure of speech".
Figure of speech - a word or phrase used in a non-literal sense for rhetorical or vivid effect
I think that qualifies.
I was waiting for that response for 500 meters...
This car is unbelievably gorgeous!
As always Alex, you reviews are on point. I still am challenged by this car and its design but you manage to make me really think about this one. Who knows! We shall see if I am turned.
Now we can't wait to get our hands on one, all these reviews getting released and this is amongst the best so far! WANT!
Absolutely beautiful car. Almost as sexy as the p1
samuel mejorada it’s sexier tf u mean 😂
samuel mejorada
I think it's sexier!
It looks far better. Those hideous upside down Nike headlights kill the look of any mclaren that isn't an F1 12C or 720s that's just my opinion though
Cody Goins
I get your point! But why go so far as to referencing "nike," instead of the McLearn emblem or logo, in describing the headlights of the other McLaren supercars? I, mean, many automotive journalists have pointed out that McLaren took inspiration from the its own logo, in designing those headlights.

I don't know how I feel about those Headlights, otherwise a gorgeous piece of technology
they are weird looking...but I think they will grow on you, I like them
First time I saw them I thought they were terrible, now they look great. They do grow on you
Every McLaren has weird design that has to grow on everyone :)
Brosefv
I was in the same predicament regarding the headlights. But, they quickly grew on me. And, now, I absolutely love them. I just don't understand why these guys don't get more recognition on UA-cam great quality videos guy keep up the good work!
you sir, are getting better and better still! the narrative was beautiful!
Thank you Alex for reviewing this stunning piece of technology for all of us who will probably never afford it - but your way of telling us how good it is makes up for this :)
Keep up the great work, you and the team, it's always a pleasure to watch!
This is such a beautiful piece of engineering.. They've taken everything from the 675LT and P1 and put it together in a way that is better than both of them
This is the first time I hit the like button before the video ended.. after about 30sec in fact
Great job, guys!
Finally a baby P1!
Well theres a very good chance that its faster than a P1!
Only on a track with a lot of corners and shorter straights because the P1 will destroy this thing in a straight line.
Of course someone always has to bring up the straight line. I would choose the 720s over the P1 any day
Wolvze Why?
Andre p1 will not destroy this thing in a straight line. It will be neck and neck
When I first saw this car I didn't like the look of it, but now that I've had a chance to see it again and again in different videos its starting to grow on me. Especially in this color. Thanks.
325 likes and zero dislikes? It's a carfection video. I'm honestly not surprised.
This level of production is so inspiring. Great Great job on filming and writing! Something I aspire to.
LOVE the new headlights. That's right. I said it. And to be frank, I always thought that the old logo lights were an ugly, shameless gimmick that ruined the front end. Noah Covell I kinda agree. The old headlights only looked good on the P1. The 650s, not so much. These are good too bit the body is just magnificently sculpted.
Me too, this thing rear/ front looks like it's from the future
Idk I feel the opposite way. I love how all of the older Mclarens look, even the logo shaped lights. Noah Covell agree with you, headlights look great but admit that it looks alike the Zenvo ST!
Your style and prowess when completing these reviews remind me of the presenters of Top Gear UK, which is high praise.
Very nice, new design. At around 1:42, the body lines remind me a lot of the Pagani Huayra. Besides that, awesome.
When you don't see smiles and giggles on a 200K car you know something is wrong.
Antonio Dias true
Dude , you look like Chester Bennington from Linkin Park
Rest in peace.
I mean that guy looks pretty alive
And he sounds like Richard Hammond!
Lol... When I first saw him driving I got a thought about who in the comments will write chester😆 here it is in the very 1 st comment
And I look like?
@carfection always does a fantastic job with their videos.
Took me a while to become a fan of the eye socket headlight housing (the most divisive thing about the styling imo) but it's cool that it's actually part of the front end aero, not just a design element, and overall the car looks stunning and I'm sure drives no less so in person.
Am I the only one who misses the old "boomerang" logo?
THEMULTIMCMUFFINS yes
I love the way this thing sounds and I love the way the gearbox sounds, so much more raw and exciting than the original MP4-12C
I honestly don't see how anyone could ever top this cars looks, its just amazing.
I've watched pretty much every youtuber's video on the 720S but I got to say, Carfection's and Mr JWW's videos are the best!
How about the 720S Spider?
I think from the reviews this car is what almost all the manufacturers are trying to create something you can take to the track that can be fun and a nice ride home
my eyes opened tf up when i saw that instrument cluster fold up 😍
that slowmo shot at the end. WOW.
720 S , Best bang for the buck in 2nd market , its Fuckin fastttttt
Looks like the Honda NSX of the 90s. Beautiful curves.
dollarhugo37 Not at all, lmao
carfection and drivetribe is all you need
Cheeky update at midnight. Lovely review as always!
if it wasn't for jjw I would think the McLaren's don't make any good sounds stock what mode do you have to put it in so it pops and bangs and sounds good? and then seen through glass with his larini exhaust on his 5:40 they did nothing to show off the sound of this car

Really good review!
Liked the reviewer's tone, articulation, words....
5 Stars!
kind of reminds me of the old NSX.
Mclaren Honda
IDK if that was a reference to it, but if it wasn't it makes this even better
because it's really sleek and low like the old nsx
the raised canopy is what does it. that visibility though
And thats a great thing
Not sure about the headlights but the rest of the design in just great !! Well done Mclaren.
This car is Dripping with Character
Lies
if there's anyone fit to fill the shoes of the Top Gear men, this man is one of them.
You're not Ron Perlman...
I know that feeling when someone gets your reference.
That car looks so awesome
With the 488 pista being the first special series with a turbo engine it’s quite special but who knows what out of this world thing mclaren will build with the performance version of this
That folding dash is dope AF !!
6:50 200k+ and doors won't even close properly lol
The ones on your Focus do. Right?
@@camirocz oooooh
@@camirocz you didn't have to shut him down like that 💀💀
Such a sleek looking design. Looks like a mini P1!
nice! first video of the 720, cheeky releasing it just after the embargo ;)
What an absolutely gorgeous car!
Superb review of a future classic!

Man this is one gorgeous car, especially in white.
Nice Fallout reference
and very fitting given that McLarens are glitchy messes after they've aged a few years, but the owners seem to love them anyway!
Louis Gordon Was about to comment on it myself, but I looked down first. lol
I swear I opened up Fallout Shelter the second after clicking on this video and I was like... WTF???????
Hahahaha
Didn't think i'd say it when i first saw this car but it is beautiful
Finally...one of their cars that doesn't have 2 swans looking at each other! THIS car is HOTT!!
He was born to do car reviews!
Looks like a rough ride, the camera is vibrating like crazy!
Ah I didn't even think about that!
Dear lord that sounds incredible
top viewed channel of this review 4 hours in. bravo guys.
They finally got the sound right!!
A++++ video as usual. I still think this guy should be on Top Gear, but maybe they're sticking it out to have this one gain in popularity. Remember to post these to /r/cars on reddit.
Personally not a fan of the looks however I get the feeling that in a different colour and in the flesh it might look quite incredible.
excellent as expected. Interesting professional car reviewers love the car. Every day knowledgeable you tube car people love the performance but would not trade in there current supercar for this even they say this is better but lacking something

Finally they don't look like melting mazda 3s. well done McLaren this car is beautiful
That steering wheel looks soOOOoOoOoO inviting.......
Best review on the 720S of the English`s car journalism, apparently the only place that you can get a hold of one to test. But i`m okay with that.
OMG finally!!! I've been on my toes since it was revealed in Geneva!
Great Richard Hammond Impression.
For me McLaren was and always will be ahead of competition. McLaren is just that good and that special.
McLaren has done a lot to change its image. I always hear it up there with the others so i think its working.
Its for someone who wants to drive everywhere yet the doors don't close & the seats aren't comfortable.
wonderful car and wonderful review
Looks like an Atomic age car with that design and all the glass.
Is this a real step up from the 650S and the 675LT?
have to say, that instrument cluster looks kinda cheap. otherwise, great car. first those holes in the front disturbed me but now i guess its ok.
AndreVD Cheap because of the materials used or the display itself?
AndreVD How's it cheap please. What's wrong with this punk ass morons
+MarvisTv Ferrari and Lamborghini have a much better looking screen.
slayclops - i find a) the design of it not good looking and then b) at least from that camera footage at least the display looks pale. all in all i think this car will be a more controversial one. some people will love it, some will not like it, mainly because of the front.
AndreVD FWIW MSO can replace the plastic pieces on the top of it in CF or painted to match your exterior color.
Nice shoot in temperature cloudy type
what happened to the cockpit camera? It was washed out, shaky/blurry but had like 10 suction cups
I like this on road review.
can you make drag race review of McLaren 720 S vs Aventador S vs Ferrari 812 Superfast vs Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Looks like a Peugeot RCZ with Merc A class headlights.
Variable slip control? I have that on all my cars - it's called my right foot :)
Man when he accelerated he sounded like he was gonna implode.
It looks like a REALLY angry wasp. Especially in that paint.
Couldn't be a great british car without knackered electrical engineering.
i like the way it looks
Nice video!
I get why you guys say it's hideous but I think the front looks aggressive and pleasing to my eyes. I think the holes will make it unique compared to the other competing. I just like McLaren because I mostly see Ferraris and Lambos, which sometimes shows that they have no variety other following the trend
Maclaren starting to look like Pagani from some angles, emulate what you love I guess
Little mistake - Ferrari sold road cars to fund the war on the circuit, they didn't go racing to make their road cars better. You could argue they do now and have been for a while, but back in the day Enzo didn't give 2 hoots about their road cars, they existed specifcally to fund the racing
Great film, McLaren can't seem to put a foot wrong recently.
was hoping for a masterpiece review like you had on f12, but i guess thats coming out when this gets even more brutal?
Ferrari took 3 years to make a competitor in the form of the 488 pista.
Which does not have mclaren's cross linked hydraulic suspension and carbon fibre tub.
Also it's not daily drivable.
And the interior feels like it came from stone age.
Is this better than 911 Turbo S?
Please make a comparison video.
I love the looks
I feel like this is the real successor to the F1.
Not that it's a halo project, but in some ways it is. This is the absolute best McLaren could do within the price range, a no holds barred assault on the mid-tier Supercar world, and it could be argued they've achieved Hypercar performance within those restrictions. Like the F1, the 720s is an overachiever.
And better still, you can actually buy one.
