i think the most horrific thing about star trek is the fact that during the timeline of the entire first series and some of the TNG Sulu was going round brutally molesting the crew members, so really this short is about coming to terms with molestation and two victims of SA meeting in the afterlife. real dark
This technology is so beautiful. I wish that someone would use it to redo the Star Trek animated series using the original voices, the latest CGI for the ships, and this technology for deepfakes.

Edited in Generations scene and Picard's speech plus its score, a warp drive sound effect when the ships leave upper atmosphere while the saucer is being shown, another OTOY short of Spock but not yet revealing his face (Why would Spock break the 4th wall?), a score from Star Trek: Beyond and an alternate unused track from 2009, ever-so faintly dialogue from 2009 and Into Darkness when Kirk is being sent to that realm where he sees his younger self. (Best if you us good headphones and really get yourself in the space) I cut some of the reunion scene down to match Generations score. Left a glimpse of Gary Mitchell's head from yet another short OTOY did, but for visual narrative wanted to serve instead for Kirk's final journey with and through the unknown.
@@JMFBizzle yea I wanted to be subtle, lord knows people/fans will nit-pick. Just takes patience and practice, even some self-discipline to keep things reasonably tight like OTOY did. I've noticed a few other fan edits where it's lengthy, lower quality, or alternative music doesn't fit quite right but happy to see other passionate peoples work. Clearly this is just a hobby to chop things up and edit, not being competitive.

I would love to see an edit where Kirk walks away from Saavik and immediately goes to the void where he meets himself and cuts out that stupid demon-looking character.

@bbbabrock no not at all, combined effort. Gary Mitchell resurrected Kirk from Veridian lll as an act of kindness & love. Saavik & Spock's son tell Kirk why he's there. Tor gives Kirk his SF badge which is the symbol of continuity & connection & transports Kirk to the Kelvin Universe. Kirk can return to the Prime Universe using his badge (l believe) or remain in the Kelvin Universe.

Seems odd to me that a lot of people thinking weird that Kirks last words are "Oh my!" To me, they are perfect, it's well known that OG Kirk says he knows when he's going to die so he has that fearlessness about him in his adventures, it seems to me that at his moment of death is when he realises it's the end he know was coming and thus...."Oh My!"...
Dude, sorry, ....you destroyed it (or the thing that was working so flawless for me before) with your freaking music edit...More isn`t always better...even if its Goldsmith....no heartfeld tears here....I can imagine you find it perfekt, but as a working composer here is a tip: Dont watch it at all for min. 3 months. Than watch the original. 2 days later watch your edit....you than will see what i mean...,

I chose both Generations Score because this was as a direct continuation, and used Beyonds lil nod to Goldsmiths theme because of the alternative reality timeline jump. Music hits differently for others. I've seen other edits and admire others different choices picking the OG score or literally just adding in each short by OTOY into a nearly 20min vid. This was fun to utilize some editing skills, and tug some strings. No disrespect...I'm a full time welder, have very talented orchestral friends aswell, this is just a nice hobby among others.
