Kratos being hesitant from the start is super great writing and forward thinking. Remember this is Kratos the God of War a man whose talked and battled with 10s of thousands of warriors, and would know when he sees the potential of Freya's lie and how even though she is helping them that it will happen again. This isn't him disliking her because of the attitude she gives him for threatening to reveal his identity to Atreus, although not to discredit that as he does seem mad at the time, this is Kratos having an intelligence the other gods couldn't of expected. Great writing, sorry for the rent
Every now and then you see a glimmer of that spark from Young Kratos. Kratos who killed the Gods because they made him mad, who killed people because they got in his way, who killed people even he said wasn’t a threat to him simply because they said something he didn’t like. It’s played for comedic effect but even Kratos saying “I’m going to cut off your head now” after Mimir called him out I thought “there’s the old Kratos”
At 30:47 Kratos goes to put a fatherly arm on Atreus' back. Which Atreus' unknowingly rebuffs by jogging forward, once again mentioning his godhood. Nice touch.

Ironically in mythology Mimir is the one who gave Odin the gift of Knowledge
Not necessarily gave it to him. Odin sacrificed his eye to the well of knowledge. So mimir saw the trade of an eye for a cup of the well water as a fair trade.
Yeah, not “give”. More like “sold”. For an eye.
The voice actor for Mimir is phenomenal. The best in any video game.

I lasted an hour hearing mimir’s tales, I even went to the store and got snacks, this man is a legend
the voice actor is perfect. and he makes the various tales in norse mythology sound so interesting
Kratos being hesitant from the start is super great writing and forward thinking.
Remember this is Kratos the God of War a man whose talked and battled with 10s of thousands of warriors, and would know when he sees the potential of Freya's lie and how even though she is helping them that it will happen again. This isn't him disliking her because of the attitude she gives him for threatening to reveal his identity to Atreus,
although not to discredit that as he does seem mad at the time, this is Kratos having an intelligence the other gods couldn't of expected.
Jörmungandr is such a nice guy.

5:45 everytime that music plays in a slower pace with deeper and strong voice.. Man gives me chills, exactly suits kratos's past life and his present... Played the game thrice just for the music
25:36 -- Tyr visited the Mayans, Japanese, and Egyptians
I wonder if they'll visit those mythologies too. Might just be Atreus in adulthood though.
it most likely will
my guess is that Atreus is gonna cause ragnarok the same way Kratos led to the downfall of Greek then Atreus is gonna use Tyr world stone thing to go check out other places.
Problably but kratos isn't leaving any time soon but he might be useless in the new games as will be hard to make kratos the main point of the game again .. but remember.. gods can live for thousands of years
Really? It was the corruption of the Gods that caused the downfall in Greece. Study history and next time you will not appear ignorant. During the reign of the Titans there was peace, all was well in the world. When Zeus had his Coup d'etat and the Titans imprisoned and defeated, the world felt their chaos.
"Study history and next time you will not appear ignorant."
No, pretty sure what ended the Gods of Greece in the GoW series was Kratos killing them all...
Let Mimir serve as a lesson to us all. Even when it’s darkest there is a way out. Even if it’s not ideal, there is a way out.
Not always there is a way out and not always when there is a way out you can have the capacity to know the way out
Death isn't a way out of anything.

I love Mmir. So human for a god. So high in moral code, like an uncle to Atreus.
I like how he speeks very flowery when he first meets kratos. He's trying to sell the idea to take him. But then he opens up amd connects with him so much he tells kratos of his mistakes.

"I am going to cut off your head now."
Exhibit A in Kratos being the most unintentionally funny character in recent memory.
At first I kinda assumed he was Loki given the nature of his imprisonment. Obviously not the case. The difference is that Loki in mythology was well aware of baldurs weakness
I love how Atreus is just goofing around while they’re talking 4:28
The more you think about it, Kratos probably took Mimir with him because he reminds him a lot of Orkos. Both men were subject to torture and torment. Both are smart as well and dont want the enemy to win even more than what they already have. They both want to help Kratos as well
10:57, always thought this was weird but I’m beginning to think that Freya just blocked his memory when it came on how to take away Baldurs abilities when resurrecting him. Even Mimir didn’t realize he had repeated the exact same thing in a row, feels like a brain glitch.

Yeah she did they confirmed it in the game

I missed Atreus' innocence of GoW4 in RAGNAROK. It's endearing
13:42 I love how mimir pisses off jormungandr, and you can hear mimir go “uhoh, hold on… uhhh wait a sec, I can fix this”

Bruhhhh imagine being tortured everyday for 109 winters, tuff.
I like to think Kratos had flashbacks to Deimos, who went through a similar experience as Mimir. Both were innocent people who were tortured for something they were accused of / foretold to do.
The main subject: Mimir, you never told me why Freya spit you in da face
29:42 Kratos was like this is awkward. His son thinks highly of him where back in the day he killed everything and anything that got in his way.
