When you get Ember in your party and talk to her you can learn that she has seven fingers, leading to one of her many nicknames. I played the game for about 12ish hours before I noticed Ember's 3d model was missing the appropriate fingers: a ring finger on one hand, and the ring + pinky fingers on the other. Great detail, art design, and modeling all around.
Excited to see this man - your videos are such an inspiration of mine. The way your personality shines through while being objective is pretty fantastic.
@@StratEdgyProductions Edgy, while I don't, you know, watch every single video you put out because IMO you are kind of loudly opinionated in ways I disagree with, I do respect that even with a 5K medical bill you refused a 4 digit paycheck to be able to give a review the way you wanted. That said: I personally would prefer you as a shill who is alive to make more videos than an outspoken critic who, y'know, died because he couldn't afford going to the doctor. Please take care of yourself, we'll understand. Edit: Because I do enjoy a lot of your videos! But the ones I don't I REALLY don't lol.
@@Kurotaisa not to just be on his dick but that does go to show that Strat has quite a talent for this. If you can still come back despite REALLY not liking some videos, I think that's something special.
glad to hear you are fine. Questionable choice to get the vax with a heartproblem with all the rumors about the vaxx causing heart problems. But again, I m glad you are ok.
My character was Lawful Good for the sake of first experiencing the "Crusade" the most vanilla way before I branched out, but even then I was impressed at how Regill manages to look at the efficacy of your actions without bias. Very well written character indeed.
True. I disliked him when I first met him, but after a few hours, and learning how insane his damage is, he has easily become one of my favorite characters
Ik im a year late in responding to this, but I have to respond to every positive Regill comment lol. He is one of my favorite characters in all of gaming, someone you cant help but agree with even with his morally questionable decisions sometimes.
I figured the difficulty thing with the classes meant how difficult the build was to play like how much shit you had to keep track of when making your build
Turn based is for proper combat and realtime is for cleaning out chumps. Also G cancels your action, so if you say, accidentally tell a character to move to the wrong position, press G and it will stop them and let you re-target. Spacebar fast forwards the opponent's turn. Helpful for those huge fights with tons of NPCs.
I love this game, just finished it with patch 1.0.5g - no problems except bugged achievements. The levelling and character building is kinda fantastic and deep. I played aldori swordsman trickster and oh boy how overpowered it is (improved criticals feata are broken on weapon users)... The way mythic and regular classes synergize with themselves giving me joy. The only dissapointing part was the late game and ending but road to it makes up for it. Still, would recommend waiting for patches until trying it if you're the person who is easily annoyed of bugs. The state of game is better than kingmaker on release but still have broken quests and glitches.
Agreed. The momentum slowed down massively in act 4, but I just turned down the difficulty to just blast through it. Act 5 was where I started to actually feel disappointed though.
The game didnt register that i killed Xanthir. I had to learn how to mod and download toybox as well as interpret the internal coding naming convention made by the devs in order to figure out how to activate the right parts of the end of that quest and then start the next one so i could continue the game.
You are so die-hard and an inspiration. I had a dream of witnesssing the How To Impose Righteous Wrath video once all these fixes go out. You minmax the living shit out of a non cheesy build like Morag Tong, straight up emitting system mastery in every word and flexing on every facet of the game! Gotta say props to you and Owlcat, September champions for rolling with the punches and doing all you can. _much love, big fan
I really appreciate that there's already a mod to auto win crusade battles instead of dealing with the auto crusade setting locking you out of content when you just wanna play the rpg
@@jacobp.4593 as a HOMM fan i kinda enjoyed it tbf. but really why cheat if one of the classes provided to you is already very OP, you can fireball/firestorm basically every enemy armies without breaking a sweat.
I found it really hard to pick a class. I spent a lot of time reading through every single one and still found it impossible to figure out what was better or worse or how the subclass changes would affect how they play.
Lol, yeah I just picked the very vanilla starter human fighter premade character in Kingmaker because character creation was too overwhelming. I say that as someone that has played a fair amount of d&d based crpgs like Neverwinter Nights over the years.
I love that watching this video two days after its' release, they've already added campaign difficulty and resolved some of the issues. Really great and balanced review, I'm almost at 300 hours in post release (I'm in lockdown) and I can't disagree with the frustrations. Definitely an improved launch from Kingmaker, I'm happy to support Owlcat as long as these improvements continue.
I've had to make a lot of changes in my life over the past couple of months. One of which was removing video games from being a part of my daily/weekly schedule. Ah well, it is what it is, but your videos allow me to somehow curb the withdrawals and I love them. Keep up the great work Strat! By the way, I'm glad the delta coof didn't kill ya.
imo i really like the voices, they are kinda cheesy and overplayed at some cases but i think it gives you the feeling of the inherent cheesiness of playing dnd with friends also has
Started playing the game about a month after this review was posted, finished yesterday, and damn, they have improved it a lot already in that time. The majority of the bugs you mentioned are already gone. Still not bug free obviously but I'd say now it's definitely playable with only some minor annoyances occasionally. They added a difficulty mode for the crusade mode. I slapped that shit on the easiest difficulty without putting it on auto because I have no interest in playing a might & magic type game and since it wasn't on auto I could still complete important shit like my ziggurat. Setting it to easy really means easy too. There's no way crusade mode would cock block you now if you played it. My general could wipe out pretty much every enemy unit by herself before any of units even did anything and my archers cleaned up the rest. Most crusades fights ended in 1 to 3 rounds for me. Sucks that owlcat released it in a poor state although not surprising given what happened with kingmaker. But they've done a good enough job fixing it in the 2 months since release that I can feel confident recommending it to people without worrying about them having a terrible experience due to bugs.
idk i played it on launch and had legit not 1 noticeable bug, and ive heard other people say the same so idk. certain later patches did cause ungodly bugs and crashes tho right now the game is fine game is also amazing imo so that helped lol
@@bofad6074 Yeah like I was saying in this post, I played it a couple months after release and most issues were resolved. There were still noticeable bugs though even then. Been awhile since I played but a couple of ones that I still remember were that restless slumber hex didn't work at all and if you used charge on a mounted character it wouldn't path right most of the time. Turn based mode also had a bug where sometimes you couldn't end the turn and would have to toggle in and out of turn based mode to continue the fight or reload. I didn't have any issues with crashing or freezing. Even with all that and the other bugs I can't remember, this still ended up being one of my favorite CRPGs of all time and I'm sure by now most of what I listed is resolved, or I would hope so at least.
Great video as always. Here are the "interesting features" i encountered so far. (Dhampir - Curomancer - Lich - Playthrough in Act 5) - Tooltip bug that got mentioned in the video. (also happens in realtime) The toolips are broken af. Sometimes the tooltip bugs out completely and is empty or has buggy text especially when it comes to feats and traits on the character sheets... - Context menu (right clicking something) is also weird. If you right click something in your inventory you can't get that shit away unless you scroll or select an option... kida weird. - Like Kingmaker: A LOT of spells and skills don't work as intended. Like they just don't and some work sometimes and sometimes not. Especially Spells that supposedly ignore spell resistance... - Animation glitches especially after using Repurpose or the better version on an enemy. (forgot the name of that one) - Graphic glitches, stretched textures to your screen edge. I like the one were if you move your screen to a different point of the map and let your group move into the screen, the textures get stretched to oblivion for a short time until the whole body is on the screen. - Glitched out quests. No spoilers here but if you should ever come to a point in the game were you are certain something should happen but it doesn't... reload the whole fucking map/mission. - Resting sometimes doesn't work. My Vanguard Skeleton didn't rest properly in certain places in the story. (Act 4 to be precise) - Sometimes spell slots got eaten... for no good reason. I got the negative levels cleansed and rested and still couldn't get the lost spell slots back... like wtf (yes i checked if they were filled to begin with or if i had any to begin with) - Resting with your group sometimes didn't refresh army movement... i mean... 24 hours should be enough to refresh the movement, or not?!? In general skipping a day and resting should be reworked to work better together as systems. - Not a bug or glitch but like Strat-Edgy already mentioned with the decrees (the ones where you don't know what to do)... the same shit with some quests. I read ALL the text and dialogues and can promise you that i had points in the story where i wasn't sure if i should progress further or not because there were quests that made it unclear what to do but they had to be finished in the chapter i was in soooo... yeah... - Pathfinding AI in general is as bad as in kingmaker. Sometimes when my group spotted a trap they stopped (intended) and sometimes they moved into the shit (not intended)... - Being a lich witha Ziggurat and the only way to get more necromancy units is mostly by killing demon armies. Why do i have a Ziggurat when i can't recruit/raise special lich units?!? you can kinda recruit vampire mercenaries but that's it. Kind of weird imho. - Not sure about this one but: At a certain point in my lich progression i had regen. And suddenly i didn't have it anymore. Not sure if that has anything to do with losing a certain buff in the story (Between Act 3 and 4, the ones who know, just know what i mean) or if it is intended. I mean it kind of makes sense that a lich has regen. - The amount of perma debuffs is a bit extreme imo and i only play on normal atm. You are basically forced to always have someone in your group who can cleanse/restore your dudes after every encounter. Having a healer in a group is common sense but you can't go out without one so one slot is always filled with someone who can atleast use normal restoration (which also bugs out from time to time) - Some enemies have like 20 attacks in 1 round. That is ok for optional hard bosses that hoard amazing loot but there are multiple occasions where you have to fight stuff like that without it being an actual boss... it's bullshit :D Enough whining. I really love the new pathfinder game, it is better in every aspect to its predecessor. And while most systems are kinda wonky, i still enjoy being a lich man. You can use repurpose on EVERY enemy. So i made a certain section of the game extremely easy when i used the skill on a certain "Playful Darkness" which took me an hour to beat because it is one of those bullshit encounters (optional!). After i managed to beat the thing the whole dungeon became a joke, but in a reeeeeeeeaaaaallllyyyyy good way. Loved the thing and some correction: Those minions do follow you in certain maps beyond a loading zone as long as you don't leave the location completely. The dungeon where the playful Darkness can be found is one of those places (unless they patched that). Debuff Spells are also kinda wonky and don't always work and "Eyes of Boadak" doesn't seem to work since they patched the game to 1.04. Before that, that spell would make fights with a lot of enemies (where most are trash mobs) way easier because of the level drain. Now it drains... nothing as far as i see it. Kinda weird. Oh and that skill for liches where you can silence an enemy with your next spell and that spell goes through spell resistance doesn't work for me at all. What a shame :/ But yeah. I hope they can iron out most of these things in the next couple of weeks. The weird spell and tooltip situation shouldn't be too complicated to fix i hope. (especially performance... 2080 + i7 should be more than enough for a stable 60 fps at 1080 or 1440) Anyone else had/has weird bugs/glichtes/"features"? :D Still... love the game!
Only a single one and I’m well into act 5 now. Game has ran perfectly smooth for me no bugs nothing wrong with crusade hasn’t been hard whatsoever yet. Spells have displayed properly and buffs/rebuffs apply and display nicely. No tooltip problems or anything like that. The only thing I did run into was some stretching of my characters or the side of the screen at one specific point in act 2, hasn’t happened since. Love the game and the experience so far cannot relate at all !
@@wideout7838 Happy to hear that! :D Did you start the game from release or did you start with patch 1.03? I had the honor to run even into the infamous keyboard bug, where you have to delete a file to have the game without making your keyboard randomly unusable until you plug it out and in again. Owlcat said in one of their patch notes, that most bugs correlate with certain choices and quests... maybe a lich playthorugh is just unlucky :D
@@Kekkakek I started on the base version the day after release as release day was my gf’s birthday which might I add was HORRIBLE timing cuz man I wanted to play 🤣😭 but yeah that could be the case I’m a trickster so that’s possible maybe I just changed the dates w a few tricks up my sleeve to not get bugs tho :p
That crit-splosion sound is soooooooo pleasant. IDK how the hell they did it, but that made me double my efforts to maximize crits in all my builds just because it's so amazing.
At some point it should be cheaper to move country than pay medical bills in the US. I wonder why so few people seem to take that route, especially among content creators.
It's hard. I am trying to move but no one wants people from the US, not to mention you have to learn a language at times and with a family it can be pretty difficult. Shit, it was hard to move two hours from our old house, lol.
Getting a citizenship or residency in another country requires some sort of job that's valuable to them and content creators aren't typically on those lists. Not to mention most countries are blocking the US from traveling for obvious reasons and barely have enough space in managed isolation for their own people coming home.
@@CorvoFG The UK isn't exactly somewhere to be moving right now though... I mean for one thing, the Tories are trying to sell off the NHS to American healthcare providers anyway, we are going to be in exactly the same boat soon.
I’m so glad your still making videos. I think you had some moments where it looked like you may stop so I’m always happy to see you upload. Excellent gardening listening.
don't forget when your character fails to actually use the touch attack, then for the next turns they are unable to use anything else and the cursor just holds the touch attack ability no matter what
The problem with the voices is that they dont give you any good choices. Party voices are the best in history . Daeriuses voice is amazing sure it might be a mild missmatch but there are enourmous missmatches when people make their custom characters even when making an honest effort
Just a quick comment about the frame-rate dips, I (through some experimentation) found that the large frame-rate dip are actually linked to a wierd bug that occurs when you use certain items and abilities (some examples you can do to see for yourself include: a druid's wildform abilities, the magic item that gives you a triceratops, and certain kinetisist abilites) I found that a quicksave/quickload will solve the issue everytime (for me atleast).
um, I don't know if it was added by a patch post review. but there is a separate difficulty setting for the crusade, so you can turn it down to super easy Story mode if you choose
i can't wait for the review of the "definite edition" with all the patches and dlcs that will come out a year from now to see if the game is actually worth buying or not.
@@bofad6074 We all know there will be additional content down the line, which means that the game is right now, by definition, incomplete. I don't buy incomplete games. glad to know the game doesn't have many bugs though.
@@agrippa2012 The main campaing is complete, they'll probably add a big dlc side dungeon and maybe a seperate campaign like they did with the previous game. other people have said its super buggy but ive had no issues and i dont exactly have a nasa computer take that as you will
Love you, love Pathfinder, love that you can finally love it too without the Kingmaker's quirks. Regarding Charge and Touch Attacks - they've just fixed it, some other things you're talking about have been fixed too
Since there's not a lot of comments yet, just wanted to say I'm a huge fan man and I hope you keep making these videos for years to come and that you get better. Love you Strat
I actually think the crusade system might be too easy now. I don't know if it's because I'm witnessing new abilities they've added recently, but there's a bar of abilities somewhere right above the party portraits bar, and a lot of the abilities I see now (which I didn't notice before) are downright broken. One of them ("Call to Arms") gives me an enormous number of units every two weeks, based on what units I already have. I get more quality units from this single ability than I do purchasing them from Drezen (and they don't replenish fast enough anyway)! Another practically wipes out stacks from the map and gives my party the XP for those kills (is it supposed to work that way??). As for the overland corruption mechanic, yeah that's annoying, but to be fair, I think you might not be taking full advantage of the Party Teleportation mechanic (build teleportation circles in Drezen and your forts. It'll save you a lot of heartache)... though I really want to blame another aspect of the gameplay in that there's really no tutorial or anything telling you how you should be handling these things. I actually had to ask myself in the Pathfinder discord channels. While that's helpful, that should never be a requirement for any game just to learn basic quality-of-life mechanics!
I was happy playing heroes of might and magic and such... my army was great I was slapping every castle and demon unit... then I encounter that one shotting general. After 5 tries I just turned the mode off.
The rank-ups, etc don't need to be passed by themselves. From what I can tell, you can only issue one decree from each category (leadership, diplomacy, logistics, military) at a time. Every decree will say which of the four categories it falls under. That being said, I do agree they could/should make it clearer that that's *why* you can't issue a decree when it's the case.
I love the game, but my main gripes are, 1. Combat is either a demon absolutely stomping your party and you just barely coming out. Idk if it’s my builds, which I typically use good guides for, but I always seem to get slapped more often than not. 2. I love the dismemberment gore, but I wish we could disable gibs, or reserve them for things such as explosive deaths. I enjoy watching demons explode into giblets, but I don’t enjoy my character shanking a massive demon with a dagger and the demon suddenly going kaboom.
Re: party getting stomped Pathfinder meta is a little goofy. Optimizing your build is maybe 60% of a fight. The other 40% is buffs. Death Ward to prevent level drain, Haste for extra attacks/movement, Heroism for atk/dmg/saves, mirror image on your casters, True Seeing as soon as you get it, etc. read your cleric spell lists and find anything that grants you immunity or attack or damage for minutes per level. A dedicated bufflord should have Enduring Spell and Greater Enduring Spell mythic abilities ASAP. Makes any buff that would last at least 5 minutes have a 24 hour duration. By level 14, my warpriest had like +50 atk. Half of that came from stacking buffs from a bard merc. Last Stand and Rupture Restraints on your frontline fighters will trivialize most boss encounters excepting a few. General rule of thumb: a fight that lasts more than 3 rounds is probably not going your way. Last Stand makes your tank unkillable for ~3 rounds. Laugh as the AI wastes full attacks trying to bring down Seelah while she’s in an unkillable state.
Kingmaker was the same way. Eventually they ironed out the bugs. I can wait a few months and by then it will be on sale just like Kingmaker. Great review. Now if they wanted me to buy it from the kickstarter they should have included Kobolds as a playable race but that's another story.
Ive been playing PnP Pathfinder for 5 years and just got into these games this year. My main criticism is the management minigames. Not once in 5 years, even when we played a kingdom-building campaign, did my group actually engage with these micromanagement systems, and now I know why. Such an unecessary time sink. I wish they would put more effort into making the game complete and playable without engaging these systems.
I expected there to be some heavy bits at the start, given how much trouble you had with deciding to take the sponsor or not, but I didn't expect covid too! Jesus man, you really can't catch a break. Glad you're alright at least! I know I certainly wouldn't have blamed you at all for taking that cash, especially given your medical stuff, but I have MAD respect for you that you stuck to your morals despite it, for real. And tbh I'm kinda glad this video ended up so big, I was able to complete my first playthrough before it came out lol
I played the through the game with crusade mode on until the end of the game a while back. It is pretty bad. I did use a few stopgap measures to make it bearable: - Quicksave before engaging any army - Reload when taking too many losses - Abuse Cure Wounds to resurrect your troops There were still a lot of problems. Between randomly losing entire stacks and the battles being the same thing over and over I often ended up quitting the game for the night after particularly painful engagements. Also funny how there is talk about single player tabletop games and how you can just engage on time consuming endeavors … I may have conscripted the rest of the party to support me on my quest to become a lich and build an awesome dungeon in some vast desert. *awkward laugh*
Hey, Strat, I know that your content mostly focuses on RPGs and their respective systems, but would you ever consider doing content about roguelites/likes, specifically Hades or The Binding of Isaac? Any of them, though, really; your videos are an invaluable source of insight into how gameplay and design function as the primary support structure for every single component of a game's derived enjoyment. I just think that the density/choice of Isaac would be fascinating to see deconstructed, or how the intersectionality of Hades (gameplay, dialogue, music, etc.) can diversify the toolkit used to illustrate a narrative. While not too accessible platform-wise, Returnal from Housemarque on the PS5 absolutely floored me with its utility of hybrid gameplay formulas and styles. While a roguelite at its roots, it felt revolutionary despite some minor quips, most of which, in my opinion, fell on the narrative. In short, I just think you have a knack for extracting intricacies even from atop the surface, so roguelike-driven content would be an avenue of dreams to see you explore. Wishing you warmth in heart, mind, and spirit 💜.
As always, fuckin awesome video, also pretty neat that I started out extremely worried about your health and heard ya get less sick throughout. Hope it wasn't just in my head and you're feeling alright!
Going to point out there are a few puzzles I've had to look up the answers to - and one of the companions' quest lines is JUST puzzles (that she DOES NOT solve for you) and the end of it is tied to a crystal you NEED to get the best outcome of the SECRET ending [Which shouldn't need to be as meta heavy as it is, to get to pop - for story based reasons that I take MASSIVELY personally because I had the physical book for D&D that's called Epic Destinies, and I know that the Secret does NOT need to be that much of a pain in the rear at all] What guides are out - Neoseeker has been fairly helpful but it does not provide location markers. So I've resorted to downloading a fully marked out map and looking over that. Like I did with the jigsaw puzzle of Conundrum Unsolved, and the Grey Garrison, and The Desna Shrine "music box" puzzle. So far, army management is WORSE for me than even the Kingdom Management BS in Kingmaker (where at least it felt appropriate) That they promised would not be in Wrath; and it's STILL in Wrath. Only 2.0... Owlcat = If I wanted to play Civilization or warcraft, I'd be playing Sim Cities, civilization or warcraft. I'd go play Heroes of Might and Magic if I wanted that game in my RPG. Come on. At this point, I've managed to barely start ACT 3 as the furthest I've gotten. I'm level 10 and the part that's screwing over my desire to play is all the mechanics I couldn't give a rat's shaved arse about. You can't turn off the crusade mode, without fucking over the option to go for the secret ending. Because why would you allow the player not to be punished for not wanting to deal with the most frustrating, badly scaled poorly implemented pain in the ass part of the game, right? There's a LOT to like about this game. However the Mythic Path being locked to alignment ALSO means I can't just choose a mythic path - I have to care about what class I'm playing, or actively not go for one of the few alignment locked classes whether I like that weapon style or not. Example: Monk and Paladin are basically locked Angel, Aeon and monk specifically can go as far as devil for certain and maybe [Maybe?] Demon. Because you can at least move one alignment block out of what the mythic path is supposed to be. I haven't gotten yet to the point I can confirm that. But it's another point that sours so much of the potential here for me. Also... I really, REALLY hate playing constantly debuffed, or at risk of being so. There's a reason most DM's will skip the exhaustion/fatigue/corruption consequences in rests. Outside of perhaps a big special event that's germaine to the story. * Also, to whoever designed the crusade encounters: NO Enemy General should EVER have offensive magics. I don't care what level they are; why they are what they are, who they are. It DOES NOT matter to me. What does is that you gave the generals call lightning, or anything else that happens to be assholish - IN a game that you FORCE us to wait a WEEK to get more army units. Which WE as the player have to PAY for. With OUR coin - which canonically since it's the QUEEN's fucking army makes no sense at any rate, but that only makes it more glaring. I just lost a 440 stack of archers because ONE demon general had call lightning. He took the whole damned thing in 2 hits. I was facing an army I could not beat in one round... and the first time I tried the damned encounter he used Call lightning to take that same 440 stack down to 1. In ONE hit. On literally the easiest possible crusade mode setting there is without setting it on Auto. That's not even cruel as a DM, that's borderline retarded, to outright bullshit. It took me like a month and a half even getting to drezen to get all of those = and they are the majority of your army's actual capacity for damage. Your fucking AI KNOWS THAT. 47:14 = This is the exact guy I was talking about. I hate him so much right now. >.< At this rate, twice burned owlcat. Twice burned. So you can forget about me giving Warhammer any kind of fair shot. I've bought this game 3 times, broke it twice and the third shot is digital. It will be my last. Because if I can't even get past barely getting Drezen back, then something is wrong in Denmark, and it's not my playstyle. It's your programming. You may be a company with a lot of potential as devs who like RPG's, but first you have to learn to STICK to RPG's. Next, you need to learn not to be ASSHOLES to your table. Or there won't be too many players who will come back.
Cavalier class is freaking amazing BTW. I wish you could re-speck Regill to an earlier level, cuz him on a saber tooth cat do like... a lot of attacks per turn.
@@StratEdgyProductions well ok i didn't do the math but it's two weapons + the cat's five natural attacks plus however many extra attacks haste adds. He does a lot of attacks is what i'm saying.
Dual Throwing Axes Fighter kinda murdered everything as well. So did my Strength-based Rowdy Rogue. The Rowdy Rogue's Super Duper Vital Strike turned out to be amazing. Honestly Strength is kinda busted in this game.
just finished a playthrough and i will say i needed to download a mod to spawn an item in order to not be softlocked outa a mythic path and a few other turbo scuffed things but man the story was awesome, very hopefull that they manage to fix some of their issues
I think Delta is supposed to be the weakest but most transmissible variant Good to have you back. Not my type of game but your reviews are always entertaining to watch
I played a vampire cleric. Choose life, forgot I couldn't use cure to heal me. Now every time I use my aura to heal everyone, I also hurt myself. I enjoy how this game reminds me I'm stupid very efficiently.
I'm amazed they did not make programable AI for your party. Game has such potential and they just cant be arsed to add it, and without it the real time with pause is tedious to play.
You have gone through the fucking ringer, seriously I absolutely appreciate your constant quality in content and overall approach. I wish you a speedy recovery fella.
Yo dog if you struggling with cash and need some support from endorsements deals, please don’t feel bad. Do what you got to do, I’ll watch your shit regardless.
the introduction of the Azata path was certainly a highlight for me. despite my first character being a Demon, i played fairly chaotic good for a good portion of the game. when i was asked by the Desnan worshippers to sing along to their tune, i was terrified that i'd be posessed by a demon or attacked by Minagho. but i took the chance, just cause i was curious to see what happens. there was a very legitimate feeling of wonder when the "Starward Gaze" theme started playing, and my caution and fear slowly subsided. if i hadn't already set my sights on the Demon path, i would probably have gone with Azata in a heartbeat. but i have a bit of an issue where a lot of the time multiple choices of what to do may stress me out so idk if a second playthrough is right for me. although, i recently started going down the Gold Dragon path by reloading to the point where i made the choice to stay a demon in the first playthrough. so maybe i'll try something like that.
Sorry you got sick, that SUCKS! I appreciate how you come right out of the gate with telling us lol. Most channels avoid mentioning COVID at the beginning (or anywhere) in their vid out of fear of losing that .50 cents of ad rev. But, not you! Big balls, baby. Big balls. Loved the vid! Being a console slob leaves me unaware of many of these types of games. Even the games that get a console port are usually vastly inferior so I typically stick with my usual style of games rather than dive in to a janky port that will leave me with a bad impression that will be completely unfair toward the game in question. So, I always enjoy finding out about games such as this and getting the DEEPEST of dives that only exist in this style right here on this channel.
Act 3 needs more exploration, you had this whole open world where everything just existed for companion quests, it made you aware you were on a railroad. I love act 1&2, just played them again today, creating different roleplay characters. Although even in act 2 you notice that you're just speeding towards Drezen, but as it's linear you don't care. Once you're told you have to hunt a dragon and explore the map to do it you hope to find stuff on the way
I play real time with pause with party movement turned off, but when an enemy dies it pauses so I can revise targets. I usually just point my fighters at who I want to die and have all the casters under my control due to them being squishy/micromanagy
I respect that you kept to your laurels Strat, but to be honest this sounds like a very very fair review. Even if I knew you were getting money to make this, I couldnt call this shilling. Even IF you talked more positively about certain aspects, I still feel like I got a very thorough overview of the game. Hope you and the Devs could work together again in the future. Wish ya well brother! Great work as always!
This review made me really want to pick up the game, but not while it has so bugs. It would be interesting and nice if someone who plays the game and knows the bugs could report and update on the bugs presented on this video, maybe a follow-up video or an update to the video description would be really great!
15:50 pressing V will activate slow down, it makes RTwP easier. Also if anybody has problems with low FPS, turn off Shadows and SSR, they can add 20 FPS or even more.
I think the best part was the power fantasy, and then the crusade stuff. Man .... i loved analyzing each units, their strengths how i can optimize them. And after about 5 playthroughs i gotta say it doesn't matter which units you'll get, with the right buildings they'll destroy anything. I hope they'll make another game that's more like heroes 3, i'd certainly love it.
Bruh you have my condolences with the coof. I also had delta, my father and I were some of the first, and I had it real bad. My dad also caught it and was hospitalized for 2 weeks, would not wish it on my worst enemy
Bro I mad respect you for not taking the money just for the sake of your work and objectivity you've got a new subscriber I would be super tempted especially with bills looming on the horizon.
Quicksave. Get into formation. Buff your party. Engage with correct flanking. Game RNG decides your party gets wiped out. Reload. Repeat everything precisely the same. This time you win except nobody drops below green health in your party. Yeah, what a riveting experience. Everyone who responds with "git gud" post screenshots of your iron man playthrough or don't even bother.
This video came about just when I was about to put this damn game down out of sheer frustration. The tipping point is something as mild as a side area that is just filled, absolutely filled, with every single bad, cliched filler fetch quest imaginable. Like, it has "go talk to all the NPCs in the area" AND a "collect 21 daggers (some of which are behind perception checks)" quests back to back. Add to it just how inane the Crusade system is and yeah, it's wearing me down. They could've made an absolutely fantastic game had they cut about 30% of its worst elements ( including the bad management games which they've proven to be lousy at) and invested the time into bug proofing and tightening of the quest design or, god forbid, a freaking option to zoom out the map.Yeah, being able to zoom out and see where on the map you're sending me to, sometimes to do something that takes about 5 minutes. You know, stuff that we complained about on Kingmaker. It's not even difficulty, I am nuking every crusade combat right about now, thanks to the magic power of healing spell cheese. As long as I'm not stackwiped, I can rez my units til armageddon comes, but I *still* have to engage on every single encounter because auto battles always wipe half my army every single time on battles I clear manually with no casualties. Sorry, I began to rant off of your rant, but this game aggravates me because of how hard it makes it for me to enjoy it. Sad to hear about your Covid woes, hope you're feeling better now.
Okay, before I even really watch the rest of the video, wanted to put a big ol’ “so glad you’re okay and so sorry you went through that!” in your comment box! It’s good to hear you went relatively unscathed because of the vaccine! I hope you stay well and healthy!
If anyone else is annoyed by those hotbar tooltips that stay on screen when it's not your turn, waggle your mouse where the hotbar normally is to make em go away. Doesn't matter that it's hidden, the hotbar is still there, so hovering over a hidden icon will drop the bugged tooltip. It happens all the time no matter your settings/combat mode, annoyed tf outta me until I figured out this bandaid, so hopefully the devs make an actual fix for it at some point The reason it happens is because the tooltip happened to be up when the hotbar fades away, so the game freaks out and doesn't know your your mouse is off the icon anymore, because that "instance" of the hotbar is gone/hidden. It doesn't even matter when the hotbar comes back, because it's a new "instance," which you can see happen at 18:33 in the video. Gotta mouse over an icon, or where a hidden icon normally is, to make it go away
10:54 I'm pretty sure the class difficulty indicators are actually _complexity_ indicators. And Alchemists are certainly complex both to build and to play.
Funny that they were able to tell what variant you got since they don't have the equipment at most hospitals for that level of analysis. They told me I got delta back in 2021 but that was assumed since it was the most prevalent variant at the time. Thankfully I survived despite the best efforts of the hospital to kill me.
21:30 Well the game has pathfinder in its name. If nothing else, it should nail pathfinding. :D Jokes aside, they seem to have nailed a lot of other things as well and the rest will get fixed in due time. I enjoyed the heck out of Kingmaker, I will no doubt enjoy this.

I took it as a sort of "how easy is it to screw up building this class" meter
@@Avengedtenfold yeah you get what I was saying, you're just better at saying it
Turn based is for proper combat and realtime is for cleaning out chumps.
Also G cancels your action, so if you say, accidentally tell a character to move to the wrong position, press G and it will stop them and let you re-target.
Spacebar fast forwards the opponent's turn. Helpful for those huge fights with tons of NPCs.
Took me 25 hours or so until I figured speeding up turns with a click. I had to watch enemy turns and wasted 10 hours.
I really appreciate that there's already a mod to auto win crusade battles instead of dealing with the auto crusade setting locking you out of content when you just wanna play the rpg

I found it really hard to pick a class. I spent a lot of time reading through every single one and still found it impossible to figure out what was better or worse or how the subclass changes would affect how they play.
If you are new to Pathfinder, just pick a premade one and start up. You'll only really learn by playing.

Quintin Harlach it is. It's a painting from my favorite artist Brom, who did all the art for Dark Sun.

imo i really like the voices, they are kinda cheesy and overplayed at some cases but i think it gives you the feeling of the inherent cheesiness of playing dnd with friends also has
Started playing the game about a month after this review was posted, finished yesterday, and damn, they have improved it a lot already in that time.
But they've done a good enough job fixing it in the 2 months since release that I can feel confident recommending it to people without worrying about them having a terrible experience due to bugs.
idk i played it on launch and had legit not 1 noticeable bug, and ive heard other people say the same so idk.
certain later patches did cause ungodly bugs and crashes tho right now the game is fine
game is also amazing imo so that helped lol
(Dhampir - Curomancer - Lich - Playthrough in Act 5)
- Tooltip bug that got mentioned in the video.
(forgot the name of that one)
- Graphic glitches, stretched textures to your screen edge.
(Act 4 to be precise)
- Sometimes spell slots got eaten... for no good reason. I got the negative levels cleansed and rested and still couldn't get the lost spell slots back... like wtf (yes i checked if they were filled to begin with or if i had any to begin with)
- Resting with your group sometimes didn't refresh army movement...
Having a healer in a group is common sense but you can't go out without one so one slot is always filled with someone who can atleast use normal restoration (which also bugs out from time to time)
- Some enemies have like 20 attacks in 1 round. That is ok for optional hard bosses that hoard amazing loot but there are multiple occasions where you have to fight stuff like that without it being an actual boss... it's bullshit :D
Enough whining. Loved the thing and some correction:
Those minions do follow you in certain maps beyond a loading zone as long as you don't leave the location completely.
What a shame :/
But yeah. I hope they can iron out most of these things in the next couple of weeks. The weird spell and tooltip situation shouldn't be too complicated to fix i hope. (especially performance... 2080 + i7 should be more than enough for a stable 60 fps at 1080 or 1440)
Anyone else had/has weird bugs/glichtes/"features"? :D
Still... love the game!

I'll give a hard time for your jokes or trolling, but your reviews are excellent and entertaining. Happy you are still around.
get well soon dude
also respect for not taking the sponsor, i dont think anybody would have thought less of you for doing it
I love the game, but my main gripes are,
Re: party getting stomped
Pathfinder meta is a little goofy.
I did use a few stopgap measures to make it bearable:
- Quicksave before engaging any army
- Reload when taking too many losses
- Abuse Cure Wounds to resurrect your troops
There were still a lot of problems.
*awkward laugh*
it is comforting to know alot of the problems brought up are also addressed meaning they are still continuining to update and fix things

Going to point out there are a few puzzles I've had to look up the answers to - and one of the companions' quest lines is JUST puzzles (that she DOES NOT solve for you) and the end of it is tied to a crystal you NEED to get the best outcome of the SECRET ending [Which shouldn't need to be as meta heavy as it is, to get to pop - for story based reasons that I take MASSIVELY personally because I had the physical book for D&D that's called Epic Destinies, and I know that the Secret does NOT need to be that much of a pain in the rear at all]
What guides are out - Neoseeker has been fairly helpful but it does not provide location markers.
I hate him so much right now. >.<
At this rate, twice burned owlcat.
WTF? For real?
Glad to hear you are still kicking :)
I think Delta is supposed to be the weakest but most transmissible variant
Good to have you back.
Tell me you live in the US without telling me.
"5k hospital bill..."
the introduction of the Azata path was certainly a highlight for me. despite my first character being a Demon, i played fairly chaotic good for a good portion of the game. when i was asked by the Desnan worshippers to sing along to their tune, i was terrified that i'd be posessed by a demon or attacked by Minagho. but i took the chance, just cause i was curious to see what happens.
there was a very legitimate feeling of wonder when the "Starward Gaze" theme started playing, and my caution and fear slowly subsided. if i hadn't already set my sights on the Demon path, i would probably have gone with Azata in a heartbeat. but i have a bit of an issue where a lot of the time multiple choices of what to do may stress me out so idk if a second playthrough is right for me. although, i recently started going down the Gold Dragon path by reloading to the point where i made the choice to stay a demon in the first playthrough. so maybe i'll try something like that.
Thank God I am not crazy about the stupid spell bug! Sometimes it even uses up the freaking slot when nothing has been cast!
They fixed the repurpose spell in the last patch I believe
I did have to laugh that one of the pre buy bonuses looks like a pair of aviators, so i had a chad monk
You can build a portal in Drezen that lets you teleport back, that saved my sanity
Great work as always!
oh fuck. sorry to hear about you catching the delta. glad to know you're otherwise alright, get well soon strat!
I wouñd say the class difficulty is not about how powerful the class is. Its about how simple to understand the class is
Harlequin from shadowrun as your character image is perfect, always nice to see SR fans ^^
Good to see a vid from you man. Hope you get better love your content.
Great video. As a RPG enthusiast this was the best review I've found that answered my questions on whether to pick this one up.
I actually liked how long kingmaker was
Bruh you have my condolences with the coof. I also had delta, my father and I were some of the first, and I had it real bad. My dad also caught it and was hospitalized for 2 weeks, would not wish it on my worst enemy
Hang in there, and I hope you see a fully recovery. Thank you for the great upload, as always :)
Hope your doing okay man. Always looking forward to your videos man.
Real time combat really shines with teamwork feats...
Like for Regill, and then for the rest of the review... fantastic work as always strat. Regarding army battles...fucking succubusses
You don't sound like someone is holding your nose, it sounds like you are higher than the International Space Station
dear god i hate your prof pic. thats hella cursed
@@Slyslug It is perfect.
Dude!! Holy crap!! I can't believe you got sick. Glad you're better! I was thinking about this game. I need me some RPG in my life.
It happens all the time no matter your settings/combat mode, annoyed tf outta me until I figured out this bandaid, so hopefully the devs make an actual fix for it at some point
The reason it happens is because the tooltip happened to be up when the hotbar fades away, so the game freaks out and doesn't know your your mouse is off the icon anymore, because that "instance" of the hotbar is gone/hidden. It doesn't even matter when the hotbar comes back, because it's a new "instance," which you can see happen at 18:33 in the video. Gotta mouse over an icon, or where a hidden icon normally is, to make it go away
Thanks for the new vid man, I always appreciate them.
Dude you are playing darkest dungeon in real life, happy to see you avoiding death's door once again, my best wishes for your recovery
You should contact them and see about a crossover event
There's since been a mod that auto wins the crusade fights and I happily installed it right away
Would just like to say all the issues mentioned here have been fixed. This game is one of the best CRPGs made.
Clicked on an ad, thumbs upped the video and commented. Also don't be afraid to take the deal next time. I hope your nose gets better soon!
as an italianx POG (person of gabagoul) i appreciate your representation of my culture.
Oh hey! I mean it in the nicest possible way when I say I'm happy you are not dead!
