    Yes that's the correct pronunciation! :D I really like the video you made, it even has a typical vaporwave style to it the way you give the presentation! The first theory you mention is actually a super interesting one - especially in the age of fake news and censorship. I definitely played with the typical American overdose on ads, brands and talkshows. You also perfectly nailed that utopian side of vaporwave. The 'real' reason behind News at 11 started from that idea to create this driving soundtrack which felt so American to me, then after watching the "REPTILIAN TV (Vaporwave Mix)" it gave me the idea to go deeper and more meta: creating an utopian alternate history where 9/11 never happened - as it should have been according to 'vaporwave laws'. The hints were both obvious and hidden in the album. Cutting away from newsclips is also a way of saying "i dont want to be reminded of it!". The way people responded after releasing the album is something that I could never have imagined; all the comments on youtube, responses through email, theories on Reddit and personal memories shared all over the internet! As artist I can give you an artwork, but in the end it's the personal thoughts of the listener that complete the picture. btw yes, that's a GTA easter egg ;)

      Hey your response means the world! It’s amazing how deep a piece of music can truly be. Super happy I was able to make a video about it haha. And that GTA reference was AWESOME lol! Can’t wait for my vinyl and tape to arrive. Cheers- and thanks for adding such amazing albums to the genre of vaporwave !! We’re all super grateful!!

      @@FangTheWerewolf Thanks man! I am really impressed! It would be funny and interesting to hear what you think of my other albums, especially Cosmopolitan Dreams, Class of 84 and Palm Mall Mars - there's a lot of hidden and plain-in-sight hints and easter eggs in those albums. You captured the 2000ish illusion perfectly. The album characterises it so well that... well, frankly, it helped me accept that, no matter how someone my age (someone who came of age in that time) might want to pine for the world they 'lost' on that day, the illusion that vaporwave so well defines never existed in the first place. This album helped me accept that. As time goes on, I'd needed that--it became too easy to look back and think, goodness, if things had stayed the way they were, I'd have done better in life. I'm sure this is a lesson everyone learns as they age and learn to see past society's illusions, but, this was the way I learned the lesson: It's better to live in the era I have, and try to do what I can, instead of impossibly wishing that things had been different. You done good. That's art.

    My personal interpretation of the album is that its in denial of itself. The events of 911 still happen but you try to ignore it and pretend everything is still normal. Watching TV in a attempt to keep your mind off that moment. The abrupt cuts is like your quickly changing the channel to avoid any mention of the event. This is why The Weather Channel has a huge focus. The Weather Channel is typically a safe haven from watching the news. All you see is the weather and commercials.

    • @delete---7593
      @delete---7593 2 роки тому +3

      Yeah I that's what I see too.

    • @compulof
      @compulof 2 роки тому +8

      This is also my interpretation. Side B, when it’s nothing but Weather Channel, is when the viewer can’t stand to hear about the events anymore. It’s too much to process at that moment. They switch a channel that’s guaranteed to shield them from it. I remember this day. Instead of putting on the Weather Channel, my “side B” was turning off the TV and staring at my emotionless reflection in the black, glossy, curved screen.

We used to make a whole day of fun out of what is now a 2 minute amazon purchase where you never leave your home, the ads and the shopping was an absolute blast!... everyone isolates themselves now.... This era is insanely depressing if you grew up in the 80s and 90s.

    The instant cut aways during the newscasts to calming music kinda reminds me of a traveler from our universe going to the News At 11 universe and flinching every time they hear one of these broadcasts. Someone from the NA11 universe they are hanging out with keeps asking “why do you keep doing that? Everythings OK!”

    Great video man, I really loved the editing style and the humor, made me laugh. I completely understand the nervousness of covering a topic such as this as you never know what people's reactions are going to be, or at least that's how it feels like, but it seems there are more people open and curious about these ideas than we think, and maybe they all feel the same way. I find your interpretation of the first side of the album very interesting, I never would've thought of it that way! In my mind, it was someone bored and channel surfing on their TV, but they kept flipping so fast, that all we hear are fragments and hints as the morning goes by, and by the time things are about to go bad, they flip off the news and turn on the weather channel instead, thus remaining in blissful ignorance and remaining, for a time, suspended in old world that is in the process of breaking apart right at that very moment, but for the meantime they have no idea. They will find out soon enough, eventually, but for the moment they are ignorant to the disaster, to the end of that world, in their own bubble of blissful ignorance. I think this album is also a perfect representation of what the 90s were like, coupled with the feeling that something's just not quite right, and then the sinking feeling you described as the listener finds out what it is. Amazing concept, amazing album and I'm glad I found this video today!

    I fell in love with this album just this week. I fell in love with vapor wave 2 months ago. I love how the news reports go right into the music instead. To me, its like the artist was saying "Not Yet" to the ending of an era. So symbolic because I was born in July of 1990 and it was the best time to be a kid. I swear.

    4:48 The first theory reminds me of a seemingly confusing yet poetic quote from Donald Rumsfeld:
    “There are known knowns, there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns, that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tends to be the difficult ones."

    I always interpreted this album as a snapshot of the late 90s. 9/11 is often seen as the end of an American era. The cut off news clips represent the abrupt change in Americans life but it never steps past that point and instead stays within that time.

    • @FangTheWerewolf

      @@FangTheWerewolf Thanks! This is exactly what I'm looking for!
      I'm hoping one day there's a 9/11 vaporwave album that focuses on a story taking place INSIDE the towers, like music you hear on an elevator, being distorted overtime as the towers endure structural damage. CD 1 could be tower 2, and CD 2 could be Tower 1. I know it sounds morbid, but it could show the life and death of a building through sound.

You don't know what its like to leave home without being able to be contacted because cellphones either didn't exist or cost a dollar a minute and were 5 pounds. There was people JUST like you in the 90s that thought people from the 60s were crap because they project every negative stereotype they believe about people they don't know on an entire ERA. Quite frankly YOU were not there and your opinion matters the least since people who WERE there are everywhere.
