I figured it out the coil of the solenoid valve wire going to the ecu needed to see 25 ohms I jest measured the resistance across the valve I installed a resistor 1/4 watt 20 ohm across the pigtail making a dongle out of the plug that ktm gives you. engine light gone.

Just an FYI, the 450 xcf-w is closed course completion. No emmissions on the 2024 450 xcf-w

Yeah but it's not fully street legal in all USA states from my understanding. I'm in AUS we only have the EXC which is basically and The same but theres no emission factors on the bike over here at all

@@itzvex1198 Licensing dirt bikes is state-to-state in the US. Bikes like the KTM 500 EXC-F are fully emissions compliant 50 state legal street bikes, hence all the emissions and corked up. The 450 xcf-w and 450 xc-f are full on off-road race bikes so licensing them for street use depends on state-by-state laws. No way in Cali or Oregon, but in Washington State you can street license any dirt bike as long as you meet the requirements and inspection criteria (lights, signals, DOT tires, mirrors blah blah) most everyone here that licenses their dirt bike is to ride the extensive amount of forest roads we have (for transfers or exploring) and not worry about Johnny Law generating revenue for the state (of course you can also super-moto it at that point). So basically depending on which state you are in and what you want to do you might be forced to get an emissions compliant bike and de-cork it, or not.

The two lock washers and smaller bolts are to replace the junky bolts that hold the battery cables onto the battery.

Is that countersunk machine screw in the spares kit for the side stand? My 21 came with one to prevent the stand automatically springing up when its unloaded.

Hi Jeff, regarding the emissions work you’ve shared in this video, once it is done, should it be followed up with a new ECU? I just acquired a new 2024 350 xw-f and it looks like the parts and process is identical to the 500. Again, thanks for helping us ride better.

      Hello:
I'm not going to waste time re-watching my video but I'm pretty sure I stated in the video that they need a Vortex or GET ECU to run well with or without the emissions pieces removed. FYI: The emissions equipment has NO effect on performance. It only captures the fuel tank fumes.

Got it. I contacted Todd regarding the availability of Vortex ECUs for 2024 models but it looks like they are not available as of now. I’ll keep checking inside the next few weeks. Thank you.

This is the question I has as well! I assumed any airbox baffle removal or exhaust opening up "Would Require" a new ecu for fueling . But emissions I wasn't sure on.
BTW on another note with the emissions system recently on a solo ride the wires on my 23 /501 got smashed with a rock picked up in the chain somehow.
Barly enough to even find the
break. But it blew a fuse to the injection system. I pushed it in the dark , for 2 miles. Untill I could coast it 4 more miles to get to a point of pickup by a buddy. Since then I have been motivated to clean up the unnecessary wires

Great video. My 2024 KTM 500 EXC-W did not include the spare parts needed to remove the gasoline Evap system. Will Slavens Racing make a kit available in the future for 2024 KTM 500 EXC-W owners?

We only recommend installing the emission delete kit if you are going to run a Vortex or GET ECU. The stock ECU needs the O2 sensor to fuel properly, whereas the Vortex and GET do not.

Is there any reason I should not connect the gas tank breather hose to the top fitting of the charcoal canister in the frame? This would seem like a good spot to vent fumes if it wouldn’t restrict air flow to tank while riding.

I realize this is a different topic Jeff, and i understand you have been with KTM for decades, but I'm curious if you have considered Beta's?
With these ongoing emissions restrictions and stock maps which restrict performance, Beta's offerings offer full performance without the necessity of aftermarket ECU's and no emissions restrictions.
Just wondering if you have ever considered Beta 4-strokes.

    • @slaverace1
      @slaverace1  11 місяців тому +2

      Hello:
Beta makes a nice product but they are a ways behind the competition frame design, fit and finish and suspension components. Also, many aftermarket companies don't make accessories for Beta's which makes it more difficult to do a build correctly.
As to the maps, etc., Beta's production is small comparatively and therefore they are not required (by the Feds) to install lean mapping and emissions equipment until they surpass a volume nexus.
      Regards,
      JS

@@slaverace1 Thanks for the response Jeff.
Having owned 6 different Beta's dating back to 2015 and several (13) KTM's, I agree in some respects.
I know the early Sachs wasn't very highly regarded, although, KTM has had some real difficulties in suspension along the way as well, 4CS, first couple years of Xplor.
I also understand, with your aftermarket business, Beta would limit some of the product line.
I will say, Beta definitely stepped up their game with the 2020 chassis and now offering full KYB's, it makes for a very solid package.
The emissions restrictions for KTM just make it an expensive proposition as it's necessary to add an aftermarket ECU to address the potential, whereas Beta has no restrictions that choke the engines power delivery.
I was just curious. I wouldn't hesitate in owning either and now with Sherco entering the market with their factory street legal 500, it affords the consumer with excellent choices.
Love the content and thanks for sharing.
