    Bravo! Thank you, excellent work. Concise and thorough coverage of the essential issues. Brilliant idea to use the portable telescoping extension pole for the antenna mast. This is perfect for amateur radio and SDR users for 3 Mhz to 6Ghz. The outside antenna has a N-male connector. RG6 is a cable type.

    Hello Jerry. A impressive review! Hiboost works good for me too. Since it has lower price than other booster, I can make my purse happy.

    Thanks for a great video! Just purchased the HiBoost Travel 2.0 RV cell booster to assist with "work camping". Cool idea using the telescoping pole with suction cups to mount the external antenna higher and towards front of the RV. My 5th wheel has the desk/kitchen across the back of the unit, so a ladder mount would not provide any "horizontal" separation.
    Be nice to see an update with an external directional Yagi or Parabolic antenna, as well as changing to LMR400 50 ohm, low loss outdoor wiring.

      @iLoveRVlife  Рік тому +1

      Thanks. I ran into a similar issue with the rear ladder. Plus the extra height of the pole surprisingly made a big difference in signal level. I mention in the video separation between indoor and outdoor antennas is key to minimizing interference. I used the cable provided in the kit and route through the storage bay and loss doesn’t seem to be an issue. I haven’t been to a location where a Yagi or Parabolic was needed. The weakest non boost signal experienced was in Maggie Valley, NC. Mountains were a big problem. The can antenna did a good job.

      Thanks. We’ll give an update on “new life in the 5th wheel” and make sure we include Mink and Molly. We have a temp solution that’s OK for now. Really wanted to do something in the garage area again, but doesn’t look like that’s going to be an option.

    Hey Jerry: Excellent video, I might try this on the top of my ladder as one commenter suggested. You didn't mention how far away the small antenna needed to be from the outside antenna. Since your signal improved on your cell phone, if you turned on your cell phones hot spot, do you think you could use say Net flicks? That's my intended usage.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 роки тому

      Thanks Bill. The video was getting long and I left out where I moved the antenna to various locations on the ladder and roof. I was in a low power location and it could have been the fact that I need height for better line of site to the tower. There isn't a formula for distance. That's main reason I recommend a soft install to determine placement of outdoor and indoor antenna. RV construction will have a big impact. If the RV skin is metal, then less distance. If composite walls with a bunch of windows as our Montana, then more distance. I could have used the phone as the hotspot for Netflix. Usually these streaming services will work if you have at least 2Gb to 3Gb of download speeds.

    Great video. Where do you think you’ll end up running your cable from your pole antenna for a clean install? How about the box inside? Thanks!

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks. We’ll follow up with the permanent install. The evaluation was running long. We’re staying with the pole arrangement for height. I have a place in the bay to mount the amplifier and a few tricks for cable management to keep things neat. I’ll have an update in a few weeks.

    Hi Jerry - nice video. Do you need to place your cell phone right next to the inside antenna to get a boost to make calls or receive texts in very poor signal areas or is placing a device next to indoor antenna just for hotspots etc. and you can move about freely with your phone inside the RV and enjoy the boosted signal?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  Рік тому

      Thank you. I’ve found when we are in very week areas of coverage, we need to be as close to the inside antenna as possible.

      CAN YOU PROVIDE LINK TO FINAL ANTENNA SOLUTION AND HOW YOU SET IT UP AND ROUTING OF CABLES?

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  Рік тому

      @kaivonmortazavi8656 The antenna solutions is as shown in the video. I routed the cables through the storage bay. The reason I didn’t didn’t diagram for the video is each installation can vary depending on the type of RV and placement of internal and external antennas. I shared the need to have good separation between each antenna. The only way I could determine what worked in our instance was moving each in various spots until I got the best signal boost. Sorry I can’t provide more, it’s just the way these boosters work.

    Hi Jerry, how has your HiBoost worked out for you? I'm contemplating installing a cellphone booster in our Cougar but skeptical.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  10 місяців тому +1

      Cell phone boosters have their place, but they’re not perfect. Antenna placement is the biggest challenge. I shared our experience in the video. Also, many have the impression once installed, the signal boost works throughout the RV. It doesn’t. We have to be within a foot or two to get boost. It works, but they have limitations.

    Hi Jerry. Our seasonal site has -114, and before I spend $65 per month getting cable internet, I wonder if this would be a better solution? Much appreciate your input.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 роки тому

      Hi Jo. Depends on your applications and what you're using for cellular Internet. We were in a similar low signal area as you saw in the video. Even after the signal was amplified by the HiBoost, we had to put the hotspot close to the inside antenna. If I was going to be in the location for longer periods of time, I would get one of the directional antennas such as this www.hiboost.com/product/outdoor-directional-antenna/. This has a 11dB gain vs the 3dB of the omni directional I used in the video. A little extra setup using something like the Open Signal app to find the tower and pointing the antenna in that location, but results would be much improved. Overall, with my low signal I was able to increase my speeds 5X to 6X. Just remember, antenna height and distance between the two antennas is key.

    Hey Jerry. I've got the Hi Boost cell booster too. It is a good product. I use Verizon only and without a jetpack or any other device. Just cell signal only is usually enough got me to get calls and UA-cam videos. Of course, there has to be a usesble signal to boost for it to work. Sometimes that has been a challenge. But I am happy with mine mounted in the ladder of my 38ft. 5th wheel. I am now looking for a modem/router setup to be able to get WiFi/Internet. You reviewed Mofi router a while ago. Do you still use that?. Communication equip. changes so much, I was wondering if you still recommend that Mofi and if you could use that with your High Booster.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 роки тому

      Hi Harley. I do use the Mofi. In the video I used the hot spot for demo purposes, plus most will have one vs the Mofi. The Mofi is a powerful appliance with a several benefits. Suspect it will work with the booster. Plans to add an external antenna. Had one on the previous 5th wheel and it worked well.

    Jerry: I just received my Amazon Prime Day/ HiBoost package. I kind like your “soft” install of using glass suction cups to hoist your painter’s pole antenna mast on your slide out.
    My Leisure Travel Van doesn’t have many places to traditionally install a mast.
    The only flat surface would be the slideout.
    Are the Habour Freight glass suction plastic or aluminum?
    BTW: Where did you finally install your antenna mast?
    Thanks

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 роки тому

      Hi Dean. We went back to Harbor Freight and purchased the dual glass suction cups. The singles were loosening in the hot sun on occasion. The doubles are plastic, singles aluminum. We’re still using the painters pole. I have the mast outside the front door on the side of the slide out and indoor antenna in the back of the 5th wheel. Working well.

    • @dogzdad123
      @dogzdad123 2 роки тому

      @@iLoveRVlife Jerry: Thanks for your reply and suggestion of a dual suction cup solution. Since Amazon has a somewhat liberal return policy, I’ll be trying 2 other methods of attaching my mast to my rig.
      Option #1: A metal ladder mount flagpole holder with velcro straps (to stabilize the pole).
      Option #2: “Command Strip” broom handle holders attached to the side panel by the driver’s door. This might look a bit wonky…but functional (?) Another UA-camr used claimed she got 2 seasons of extreme weather and the strips didn’t fail.
      Again, thank for your input.
      I wouldn’t have thought of suction cups.

    I think your initial ladder location was poorly mounted. The ladder was right beside the antenna. If you had mounted it on the horizontal portion at the top of the ladder, so that the whole antenna was above the ladder, i bet you would have got similar results to your painter's pole mounting.

    • @iLoveRVlife
      @iLoveRVlife  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Lynd. Good comment. I tried a number of locations on the ladder, above AC, etc. The video was getting long and I didn't want to bore the viewer with the exercise. Nothing helped until I added the additional height. Could have been several factors from tower location or distance from internal antenna.

      RV travel and big bandwidth can be a challenge. One stop may have 50Gb and the next can be the bottom of the bucket. All of our data plans are older 4G unlimited and grandfathered. Would like to make the move to 5G, but price and need just isn’t there yet.

      4G LTE has gotten much better. 5G has Lots of challenges - wavelengths do not travel very far vs 4G and US telco infrastructure in general lags behind Japan and Europe.

      Fortunately, I’m finding 5G as a big improvement. Many of the cell providers are reducing bandwidth to the 4G channels and moving to their 5G spectrum.
