Seals do seem to like using a log for wind protection. They may also get some residual thermal heat from the log between their fishing adventures, but I have never asked for one.
Paua, add garlic and onion. I learned at Warrington years ago when flounders were everywhere, and you could catch a sole on the front beach. The big rock was in the water in those days. The bay has filled in a bit since. It was nice to see Trotters Gorge again - fifty years, half a lifetime!

Gidday Leopards, another great video Mike. You guys are truly wonderful ambassadors for show casing the scenery of New Zealand. And sorry to hear you got a ticket Mike. I just wish the police would ticket the real speedsters, who tow trailers at very excessive speeds, without so-much as "a hey ho, out of the way", blink an eye and they've gone!!! I've been passed on Waikato Express way, lots of times by trailer towing vehicles (on the 110k section), once by a dodge Ram with a huge car trailer which had one and a half vehicles on the trailer, in the wet, like I was standing still, yet I was going 110k, absolutely crazy.
May your journey continue, keep up the great work, editing Mike. Go the Leopards.😀

@ The local south west coast of British is temperate rain forest which can be cold and damp. The mountains do get lots of snow in winter. From Vancouver to Prince Rupert. Heading east from Vancouver is the southern interior of the province in the Okanagan region is a high desert with dry cold winters to -20C. Lots of lakes in this area south to border to Washington state. Farther east is the high Kootenay mountains and lakes, valleys . Further north of the Okanagan region is the Cariboo get cold dry winters too. Can get even colder. There are some recreational campsites which can be free but most provincial park campsites over winter close down. Best time to camp is early fall September to October when you can get frost and some snow. Province of British Columbia is huge. Could fit 3 New Zealand in the whole province! Remember Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world.

Another great area. I love paua fritters. Mmmm. Yum
Funny thing. A few years ago, we were towing the caravan and got pulled over for holding up lots of traffic. I disputed it & and the officer said they'd had a number of phone calls. I asked where I'd been holding up the traffic. He said between TeTeko & Awakeri. But we hadn't been on that road. We'd come from Edgecumbe. But he insisted, until I rang the garage in Edgecumbe where we fueled up & they confirmed our story.
He just popped into his car & drove off. Oh dear. 😊

All Day Bay is beautiful, we stayed at Kakanui for a few nights last November on our way south. When you first arrived at All Day Bay I saw those clouds in your shot and immediately thought...there is some weather coming. It would probably help you to learn a bit more about reading the clouds. Re the wind...a stunt kite is a good way to amuse yourself, especially when it is a sunny day.

Yep, I’ve had a few tickets over the years, realised long ago, it doesn’t matter what you say, they will ticket you regardless. Great presentation Mike. Great editing etc. Hey mate. Don't beat yourself up too much about the ticket. In a previous life I was operating between Chch and Bluff and across to Te Anau carting live crayfish in a chiller truck. I have logged close to 3ml km, maybe 4ml km.? Not sure how many km I've done in a car though. Ended up with 3 tickets in that time. Nothing for me to be proud of however. But I wish I could have $10 for every time I saw a cop texting, from up in the cab, I'd be a wealthy man. Yeah it's real. By the time you realize it's happening, their car has shot past going the opposite way, so no photographic evidence. Moving on.
I've stayed in the Hampden Holiday Park. The showers were free, but on a timer of about 4-5 minutes.? I think.? At the time it was run by a Swiss couple. I used to give them pretty good reviews. Hopefully the new people haven't stuffed things up in the name of progress. Anyway thanks for the upload guys. All the very best, from somewhere inland on the Southern island.

Hampden was nice, pretty small campsite but got everything you need. Not sure about those shower prices though, showers are free if your staying at the campsite, they give you a tag to turn the showers on, but if your across the path at the NZMCA site with no facilities then you use your own tag for a $5 shower.
