The love for your spouse is a chosen love. You chose to love them and put in the work with them every day to maintain that love. The love for your children is primordial and chemically seared into your brain. It definitely is different.

My son just turned 8 months, I honestly do not remember the newborn stage. It went by sooo fast. He’s already trying to crawl now. Watching your kids grow up is beautiful and in a way sad because you know they’ll never be tiny like how they used to be. It’s the purest form of love. I’m so glad he’s doing good.
My mom never had any crawling stories. She says I started walking extremely early and it annoyed her so much she was trying to get me to crawl, lol.

I'm a father of a 1 and a half year old son. And the newborn stage feels like a fever dream, it went by so quick. I will say too that not all parents bond to their babies instantaneously. Like for me, I had no experience with children, hardly interacted with them and when I did, I hardly knew what to say or how to engage with them. For anyone out there that is either becoming a parent or plans on becoming a parent one day. Be patient with them and also with yourself, it can take time to properly obtain that bond-like feeling, but it happens before you even expect it. Being a parent is a relieving feeling because you have permanent purpose in life. You will literally take a bullet for your child. It's an amazing feeling.

i am 2nd oldest of 8 kids my parent have, i took care of all my younger siblings so i thought i was prepared. sure i knew what to do but man i was not prepared for the amount of love ill have for them. its just as t1s said. its surreal and the moment you see lil rascal you know you will die for it. not in a cringe "i luv you forever to death" hollywood style but deep down you know theres nothing in the world thats more precoius to you than that little pinkish screaming fucker

Before my first born, the first girl in my family after decades of boys, I was just an emotionless nerd. My own mother doubted I'll even find a girlfriend, I myself doubted I could ever feel real deep love. Even while her mother was pregnant I didn't feel much, I thought something was wrong. I doubted I could ever be a father, let alone a good one. Then she was born and my first thought was literally "damn, I got an alien" because she was deformed from birth and her skin was almost purple. This immediately seemed to have confirmed my suspicion: I'm a cold robot that doesn't feel jack shit.
But then it creeped up on me, it was so surreal, so weird, I can't even find words to describe it. This little thing, by merely existing, showed me sides of myself I've never seen. I changed so much in such a short time, I became a completely different person. It was exhausting, frustrating and sometimes even soul crushing - but it couldn't be any more worth it.
When it first happens you think "never again", but then you may end up like me: Father of 3 of my own and a step son (ranging from 1.5 to almost 13 years of age)
Because as difficult as the time may be it will pass so fast you'll wish you could get it back.
