einherjer(or einherjar) are the warriors who are part of Odin's army in preparations for Ragnarok.whenever a great warrior in the mortal world(midgard/miðgarður) dies in battle, his soul is retrieved by a Valkyrie which carries it back to Valhalla to be part of einherjar.there they spend the day fighting each other in huge battles to the death.but when night comes they rise again from death and join together in a great feast, talking like old friends about the battle they had.

I would like to make somethings clear, vikings originated in Scandanavia (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden). Vikings did make colonies in other places that you can call "norse lands", those places were Iceland, Greenland, Scotland and Rusland (Northern Russia). The people from those countries can call themselves norsemen, they have similiar traditions. The leader from each of these countries were originally from Scandanavia. The two I can say of the top of my head are Erik the Red (Founded Greenland), and Rurik the Rus (founded Kievan' Rus).
Why do you think that? I personally believe people assume that because there are less sagas about Finns, and more about Danes, Swedes, Geats, and Norwegians. I think it depends on an individual opinion.

I like how you include yourself in the group of "legends". You don't get to include yourself in the actual accomplishments of people in the past just because your parents fucked. What's the last battle you fought in, keyboard warrior?
He literally said, "Legends that will never die. No matter how hard they try to kill *us*." He used the first person plural pronoun, thereby including himself with the subject from the previous sentence. What's your excuse for fucking up so hard on basic grammar, keyboard warrior? I'm sorry. Keyboard _viking_. (That's somehow even more pathetic.) Also, fucking wow...After-school karate doesn't count as "fighting", kid. Grow the fuck up. It's the 21st century, although you wouldn't know it the way religious morons like you keep carrying on. Leave that shit in the Middle Ages where it belongs and join the rest of the grown ups. I guess I shouldn't be too hard on you or you might go shoot up your high school or something.
Then everyone was lying to you, and instead of doing any kind of research yourself, you just swallowed whatever you were spoon-fed. The Viking Age began around the 8th century and ended in the 11th century. Go read a book. You can start with this article, though: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking_Age In 100 BC, there were no Vikings. There were Germanic people settled from Scandinavia down to the Alps, and from the Rhine over to eastern Europe. The Vikings were Norse people who came from Scandinavia during a specific period in history, and they didn't become an issue until after the Roman Empire fell. Try reading sometime. If you think I didn't know what "BC" means, then you're an arrogant asshole in addition to being a gullible illiterate. I grew up in the Western world; I fucking know what "BC" stands for. Also, it doesn't matter who arbitrarily decided to measure time or why. I fail to see how the arbitrary system of measuring time that we've adopted has anything to do with whatever "point" you thought you were making. You're right; Vikings weren't kids, and they weren't like me. I'm a civilized Westerner while the Vikings were violent, illiterate savages. I grew up during the most peaceful time in global history with access to plentiful food, modern healthcare, advanced technology, and all the knowledge I could ever want from books and the internet. I'll take that over being able to murder people while I'm robbing them, thanks. Now go learn what how insults work, because it sounds like the point of that original comment flew way over your head. Not a surprise, really. Irish Potato King is a wannabe. He thinks that talking big on the internet makes him hard like the Norse people who lived 1000 years ago. He thinks that he can just identify as a Viking and not be made fun of for being a fucking moron. He had no point, and neither do you.
elena temeszwar when I listen to this, I see a young viking, merely grown out of childhood, being introduced to the rites of becoming a viking warrior. Fighting with other young men, hunting, also dancing, drinking and feasting with the older warriors, to prove his strength and that he's worthy of becoming what would be the equivalent of an Einherjer. I love that this song is driving, yet somehow dark, very dreary, but in a good, powerful way, maybe lulls you into a trance-like state.
WhiteStar If you could read instead of insult people without any reason, you would understand what I talked about. But I guess your brain lacks the capacity for that. Troll away.
Mme.Tenebrae I think describing someone as a troll is very unfair to the simple creatures with a tendency to reside in damp places such as beneath bridges. Why not call them what they are, cowards with no hope of ever seeing Valhalla who wouldn't dare say what they say to your face!
I first came upon the word Einherjer in the game Dark Age of Camelot 13 years ago which was the highest military rank achievable by vikings....so many memories...
I can almost imagine Snorri telling me about Yggdrassil while this piece of art is playing in the background and the fireplace is warming up my cold body.
You should definitely do more pieces like this!! I used it for my presentation for my English class in Norse Mythology! :D This is a VERY powerful piece, perfectly arranged.
I can imagine being in the Other World and getting ready for battle when I listen to this. Fully equipped with bows, axes, daggers, swords, etc. Wonderful imagery for my book.
This song is gentle but strong, it also carries some sadness in it and for these reasons I've been looping it for God (any of them) knows how many times already this evening. Gentle melacholia is how I feel this song and somehow comforting. I dont think you know how much emotions you wake up in human with your beautiful songs. That's why I like them so much! Thank you for your music. :)
My Father's Heritage lies in Baltic roots, who fought against Vikings. My mother's blood originates from Sweden, which was home to Vikings. So it's like my insides are conflicted when I hear this song.
***** Eeeeeh. Varang is name of PROFESSION, its not name of TRIBE. Its the same word as Warrior. Varang = Varak = Voiak ( = Soldier in Slavic language). All names describe a profession specialized on War. Boyar is the same. B and V are often altered like in Bulgar = Vulgar, Suobeni = Sloveni. BOI = battle, fight VOI (voina) = war
Speaking of Vikings, Old Norse and Scandinavian history, this is a really interesting fact, that very few know about, and as a Swede, I think this is very cool;Elfdalian or Övdalian (Övdalsk or Övdalska in Elfdalian, Älvdalska or Älvdalsmål in Swedish) is a North Germanic language or dialect, spoken by c. 2000 people who live or have grown up in the parish of Älvdalen (Övdaln), wich is located in the southeastern part of Älvdalen municipality in northern Dalarna, Sweden. It´s called the Ancient viking forest language of Sweden.Like the other Nordic languages, Elfdalian developed from Old Norse, a North Germanic language that was spoken by inhabitants of Scandinavia and inhabitants of their overseas settlements during the Viking Age, until about 1300. It developed in relative isolation since the Middle Ages and is considered to have remained closer to Old Norse than the other Dalecarlian dialects. Traditionally regarded as a Swedish dialect, Elfdalian is today regarded as a separate language by several linguists. The Elfdalians also used runes until just a hundred years ago. How cool is that!?Search for it here on youtube and google it! : )
this music reminds me of wardruna. wardruna itself is based on norse culture so I would not be surprise if adrian inspired himself on that, thinking on that makes me feel more into the music. just epic \m/
I am so proud to be a descendant of the vikings! 1/4 Danish and 3/4 Faroese! As someone has already pointed out, the vikings did not spread to all parts of the world. They did however once control a part of England and up until a few hundred years ago Denmark owned the Shetland isles as well! For that reason many words in the English language originate from Danish. A few examples: egg/æg, husband/husbonde, knife/kniv and so on!
Do you speak Danish then? And it is "Husbond". A "husbonde" is... A little different. I heard Faroese (Sorry, if misspelled) and Icelandic girls are the most beautiful women in the world. Can you confirm me on this? 😂
Listening this I did felt like I'd been transported to a past time. Where there was the fear of Viking invasion and this was like the noise of them as they set off to fight. It does feel very hypnotic. Love it!
well they were pretty close to each other they bound to have similarities like the gauls and german tribes had lot in comon ...or the sarmatians and the huns....or the romans and the greek and macedons.
i think its also because some of it happened the other way around. what we consider mystical music now automatically has to do with ancient cultures, shamanism, etc, so those elements are incorporated into it
Simply? Weather. Colder weather climates have a history of slower more intense sounds in their cultures, while warmer climates have faster, lighter paced music. Some of it has to do with the instruments they had, and how those were affected by the inherent climates, and some simply had to do with matching the mood set upon them by the climate. ALSO, music, especially of this nature (Rhythmic drums, throaty male vocals, etc.) is widely affected by military tactics at the time. The pace of war drums in the Viking culture especially, were an ever present sound, and completely shaped their music.
I get this all the time....or questions that get answered through videos.....I think this just means people all over the world are having the same issues, and that we are not alone in how we feel.
People... If you live in Greenland you are as close you can be to be a Vikings... Stop sayin' "My blood comes from the vikings!" It's silly... And We might as well say that we all have viking blood due to there setteling all around the world... So plees... >_> its getting silly...
JollyGamings StevenBones Why Greenland? The Vikings originate in Norway, Sweden and Denmark, around that area. They then settled Iceland. Those are the places you are as close as you can to be a viking. Greenland was settled by a few Icelandic and Norwegian vikings, many of whom converted to Christianity. They later disappeared without a trace and no one knws what happened to them. Why would you be closest to a viking in Greenland instead of a viking's land? (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and the Faroe islands)
Big Italian Sausage Did you miss the part where I said "Greenland was settled by a few vikings, many of whom converted to Christianity"? Yes, a few did LIVE there for a few centuries, then in the 1200s, a man (Icelandic or Danish) went to check up on the Norse population of Greenland. They were nowhere to be found. Only thing he found was ruins of a church and turfhouses. No one knows what happened to them. What Greenland is today is Danish speaking Inuits and some recent Danish and Icelandic immigrants.
***** Whoa, 35 generations!? I've found out my ancestry leads back 31 generations to 8th century Norway to men who went "out" (to Iceland) and other Norwegians who settled later. Harald is from the 10th century. Thats 4 generations more in 200 years less time.
Ok FFS. What I meant was that Greenland have the closest speech, the closest dialect and words, and yes, they originated from Denmark, Norway and Sweden. But that dosn't make you one! And stop saying you are one! YOU AINT! NITHER AM I! They colture died long ago. Through out evoltuion and infuence of other countries. SO STFU ABOUT IT!

Awesome. That song would be a great soundtrack for a medieval film. Imagine the scene in "The 13th Warrior" where the 13 men travel through a winter landscape. It sounds like "men do what has to be done".
The sound of waves surrounds you as your ship plows through the arctic waters, brushing ice off to the side in its slick yet steady movement. You look around you and see a similar anticipation in the eyes of your comrades to that which you feel yourself, burning in their gazes as they watch the ship ahead through the dark of the northern night. The crew is ready, and the sea and sky are at your backs. You know this attack will be one of fortune.
It's really good composed. Sounds original and catchy. However, considder implementing more authentic Nordic instruments and sounds. You probably know what I'm talking about. If not check out Wardruna.
+Jeppe Steen Thank you! Oh believe me, I wish I could. But while Wardruna has all the real instruments and records them live, I do everything on keyboard and PC. I have no real instruments unfortunately.^^

+British Commodore Actually you are wrong....That is what mainstream media claims....Norse Pagans are from Ireland to as far north as Russia.... Also, fucking wow...After-school karate doesn't count as "fighting", kid.
You can start with this article, though:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking_Age
In 100 BC, there were no Vikings.
Anyone ever just feel like there is this powerful force hidden in the depths of your body, that drives you to want to listen to this? Or am I fucked.
Your soul wakes up from the music. Your soul is very old
I see a ship full of old Viking inhabiting Greenland ... dancing around the fire in the night ....This song is... very realistic
Cool description.
I was imagining while reading this.
elena temeszwar when I listen to this, I see a young viking, merely grown out of childhood, being introduced to the rites of becoming a viking warrior.
Mme.Tenebrae what the fuck are you talking about you freak
WhiteStar
If you could read instead of insult people without any reason, you would understand what I talked about.
Just seeing the name "Adrian von Ziegler" betrays the fact that the music is gon' be good :)
I can almost imagine Snorri telling me about Yggdrassil while this piece of art is playing in the background and the fireplace is warming up my cold body.
This is cool
Fait rêver et Transporte dans le nord parmi les anciens viking.
Envoutant et mystique!! J'adore!
My ancestor was Erik the Red
***** Eeeeeh. Varang is name of PROFESSION, its not name of TRIBE. Its the same word as Warrior. Varang = Varak = Voiak ( = Soldier in Slavic language). All names describe a profession specialized on War. Boyar is the same. B and V are often altered like in Bulgar = Vulgar, Suobeni = Sloveni.
BOI = battle, fight
VOI (voina) = war
GorrilaJohnson i want to know you
Amazing.
one of the best vikings music I've heard
I'm from Norway! And I love the legends about Odin and Thor. And this song is just fantastisk!
Adrian you are talentful. How you don't make billions of money is beyond me. Please never stop doing this much love!

Are you god?
Listening to this album has helped me get through the mind-numbing task of translating Beowulf. It really sets the vibe!
this music reminds me of wardruna. wardruna itself is based on norse culture so I would not be surprise if adrian inspired himself on that, thinking on that makes me feel more into the music. just epic \m/
Yho!
What a flawless master piece
So awesome Adrian! Your description of this is perfect. Your vocals and that melody are so haunting...
The first Viking song by Adrian 2 days before my birthday! This is simply too awesome!
Proud to be a Norwegian!
This music speaks to the inner subconscious drawing upon the eternal rhythms of the mind, body, soul, and Earth!
Do you believe in the nordic gods?
Do you speak Danish then?
And it is "Husbond". A "husbonde" is... A little different.
I heard Faroese (Sorry, if misspelled) and Icelandic girls are the most beautiful women in the world. Can you confirm me on this? 😂
Alda Mørkøre Nielsdóttir i love you..."do you marry me"?
The world needs more people like you.
DRAGON FUCKING BORN
hahahahahaha got that fucking true THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!! XD
Dovahgjokiin
I have some of his songs in Skyrim itself.
Including this one, it activates when I go into caves.
Listening this I did felt like I'd been transported to a past time. Where there was the fear of Viking invasion and this was like the noise of them as they set off to fight.
It does feel very hypnotic.
Love it!
I don't know why mystical music sounds inherintly norse. Throat singing and such.
While faster, more harmonic and lighter music seems celtic.
well they were pretty close to each other they bound to have similarities like the gauls and german tribes had lot in comon ...or the sarmatians and the huns....or the romans and the greek and macedons.
i think its also because some of it happened the other way around. what we consider mystical music now automatically has to do with ancient cultures, shamanism, etc, so those elements are incorporated into it
could be...:)
Simply?
Actually most medieval music sounded like 'Celtic' music.
If beauty could be wrapped up for 1300 years, then released, then this would be it.
Make sure to watch his other viking song aswell: Viking Music - Vinterns Dröm
Same here! I can only sound that deep and scratchy after I wake up too, hooray for having a deep voice!
Vikings are amazing people, I write stories about them a lot. ^^ And you are AMAZING!!!
I get this all the time....or questions that get answered through videos.....I think this just means people all over the world are having the same issues, and that we are not alone in how we feel.
Is anyone else seeing a Viking ship rowing slowly over a mist-shrouded sea?
Oh my gosh im not alone
Yes
Victory or Valhalla
I see a viking ship rowing slowly over on a bulding. Veeery high one. Sigh. I was born at the wrong time.
@@jamarinflanigan

You must have the most generic character ever :P
nice..strong and..peacefull..like a hump through the woods.. after the day.
Ha, I will read "Brotherband" by John Flanagan with this!
This song make the fire withing burn brighter, stronger, gives us power...
Your music has affected me so much and helps me through my problems.
موسيقى حزينة جدا
وموسيقى سعيدة جدا
وموسيقى حربية بحتة

C'est sympa, quelle mélodie !!! J'adore surtout la flûte de pan à la fin...
As a swedish male this make my blood boil...
Love it.
I searched something akin to Wadruna ... thank you so much for providing it with such mastery
This song reminds me the Greyjoy house somehow. Maybe because in A Song of Ice and Fire they are very similar to vikings. All prayes to Drowned God!
Fuck Theon though, traitor.
@@86BullnoseOG Still agree with that statement?
Absolutely
We Do Not Sow!
Adrian, i think you are a viking behind our backs!!!
***** My Grandma is 100% Norweign and I think I am 25% Norweign I'm pretty close to viking.... Not really though
Hearing the booms from valhalla makes it an honor to fight well in battle as my swedish heritage fought the romans and plunderd england
Today! we die as true Warriors!
Hail the gods of Valhalla
There's too much awesomeness in your music it's insane.
the Aesir rides out to war with armor shining bright, followed by the Einherjer, see Valkyries ride..
Shining armor are for pussies.
I can't wait for the long winter nights either. Another wonderful piece.
wow! your own voice?
no editing?
+heidi egy No editing except en effect that makes me sound like I'm in a huge hall.^^ But I didn't change anything about the voice itself, the depth etc.
Adrian von Ziegler wow i guess you can do much with your voice. Great job. 👌
+Adrian von Ziegler the background singing sounds a bit like mongol throat music.
+Adrian von Ziegler do you know any VST like this just to advise me? thanks of course and i liked your Viking song so much...Real......Your blood is a Viking God blood....Odin bless you....:-) i think these voices are the same as the Native American voices....it reminds me these songs......this category of songs sounds so much cool to me....
+Υπερδιαγαλαξιακός Αστροπολεμιστής I love ODIN And the Viking GODS~
In this times the nordic culture is more interesting and needed than ever !!! ODIN will protct us !!!
a full roast dinner drinking beer from a mug and playing this song (happy days)
Closing my eyes and listening to this music, I really did imagine myself wandering the Scandinavian Tundra, in winter, with a cold wind caressing my face. That was almost magic, incredible. Thank you! ^^
First we destroy the Alpha! Then we take Berk!
Raffaele vacca sono felice che un italiano apprezzi la musica del nostro grande Adrian! !

XCashfull Pardon me, spammer.
Awesome. That song would be a great soundtrack for a medieval film. Imagine the scene in "The 13th Warrior" where the 13 men travel through a winter landscape. It sounds like "men do what has to be done".
I think it's time
TO PLAY SOME SKYRIM!!!
Skyrim done...

go to, or over the mod limit, and you don't even need a real life anymore ...
IHaTeD2 so true....spend 25 GB on mods
The sound of waves surrounds you as your ship plows through the arctic waters, brushing ice off to the side in its slick yet steady movement. You look around you and see a similar anticipation in the eyes of your comrades to that which you feel yourself, burning in their gazes as they watch the ship ahead through the dark of the northern night.
The crew is ready, and the sea and sky are at your backs. You know this attack will be one of fortune.
May I use your music in my free android game? When i publish it i will inform you and of course i will give credits..
you better give us the names of those games!!
This Music is Haram!! ;) ;) ;) I'm kidding!! :D
Cat Bringer Your comment cracks me up. XD
Cat Bringer lol what? This music is folk lore. Dubstep is more haram than this, but I get ur joke.
TAGDA Game well 3 years have passed, how is your game going?
This track is special to me since I've got Danish ancestors. I hope you sometimes read our comments and see how much we enjoy your beautiful music.
+Adrian von Ziegler I got that impression. Was hoping samples or something might do the trick. However it's still awesome, and your own personal project. Keep up the amazing work :)
Nords are north Germans and Danes. Most Vikingr were Norwegian and Swedish (Norse)
@ Adrian von Ziegler more viking Songs please👍
+British Commodore Actually you are wrong....That is what mainstream media claims....Norse Pagans are from Ireland to as far north as Russia.... Greenland, Iceland, Germany, Scottland, Norwegian, Sweden...Viking is only the name givin to pillaging tribes...While Norse Pagan is older than the Vikings anyway
Thank you very much Adrian for this new addition to your collection. As a freight train engineer i use your songs as background music while working nights.
This makes me picture vikings in the pouring rain, muddy, miserable weather, getting their gear and axe and marching towards a hopelessly strong enemy army.
