The glass peices they use in outdoor gas fire places are very pretty in resin. You can do a stained glass look. Put a thin layer of clear first in mold to go about half way up the glass peices. Then place the glass peices. Let cure. Then fill mold with black opaque resin. It will give it the look of the lead outline between the peices. Its quite beautiful.
Wow! What a great idea! I’ve been sitting on a 10 lb bag of a beautiful square light green fire pit glass… just waiting for the perfect project… thank you for spelling that out here… half way up then the black in between why did I never think of that?? Thank you! 🙏 😊
@glitznglitterbymichelle1 do a search on Google for ...fire glass. You will find different colors and different shapes and sizes. My next one I am using a mirror metallic marker to coat the back sides of the glass peices. You can also put fantasy film under them if clear peices to change up the appearance.
Great video. Thermochromic powders (changes colors with temperature). Interference powders are also called ghost powder or Aurora powder sometimes. Chameleon flakes are a little different than chameleon powders. Glow in the dark powders. Waterproof LED fairy lights. Pigment Dyes can come in translucent or opaque. Dried Clay. Kiln dried wood, best to coat with resin before using, so you don't have as many bubbles.
Yep almost everything you listed off definitely can be used many different ways!! Im a Nail Artist and i have used glitter, alcohol inks, chrome, stickers, shells, those star fish, paper, washi tape, pigment powers, food, dried flowers, abalone shells, colored foil and much more in nails! Lol You can literally put anything in an acrylic nail! Lol so i use everything you use in nails but resin! Lol its crazy how art stuff can be used by many different ppl for so many different kinds of projects! Thanks for sharing hun!! 😊😊
You can also get mica powders in “glow in the dark” and “heat activated.” At least I think they are mica powders. I don’t know what else to call them. I’m working on multi-colored glow in the dark wind chimes for my grandchildrens’ bedrooms. Thanks for this video. When I started in resin I was so confused by the different ways to color resin. This would have been a big help. 💚
This was a gr8 video for beginners who as we all had thought at some point “hmm can I use that in resin?” I thought a great video idea would be covering all the different pigment names/differences such as; Pearl, pearlescent, holographic, chameleon, iridescent & so on. Also other types of foils they sell like the heat transfer, or the decorative metal fused transfer films that come in sheets or even tiny ones that come for nail application & different ways how u can go about applying them. Most have a commercial licensed adhesive that they insist on using or a nail lacquer that is a specialized type but there’s definitely room for showing people how to save money & different hacks for all of that. Thanks for the helpful tutorial once again, Allyson
I love the velvet look, so what i did was take buttons and set them on top of the seran wrap to make it look like upholstery, it looked great but i used the cheap plastic clear buttons. Next time i am going to use real buttons. Just an idea.
This video is awesome. I could listen to you talk about resin projects for hours. It’s so interesting and I’ll be checking out some of your videos. Thank you for this video!!
You can also use Indian Ink in resin. So many colors and metallics in that genre it’s insane. Try it. I think you’ll like the effects. I’ve so much because I used to do a lot of calligraphy. There are alcohol inks and resin dyes that are opaque. For example, Morandi pigments are opaque and have lots of interesting colors. This was a great video for inspiration and newbies out there!
This was a really great video. So much information packed in a small amount of time. I have also read some of the comments which have more information.

Great video, Michelle! For the beginner or expert. After 8 years of working and creating with Resin, I'm still learning. Probably because when I started, there wasn't much information out there. The rhinestones are for Diamond Drills. Also when I started I used candy like red hots, cake sprinkles, these where perfect for jewelry, coasters or anything.
Hi Michelle, Thank you so much for sharing this. It was much needed. Let's Resin has a new opaque set of liquid dyes that wok pretty good. I like to use eyeshadow as they come in colors tgat the mica powders dont have. I get them at the Dollar Store or Walmart. I always get the ones that come in sets of complimenting colors. Lipgloss and lipstick also work great.
I love this video because I was at Tractor Supply today and was doing what you just said, looking at things and wondering if I could put things in resin!!
Hi thanks for this video I really enjoyed it. I am from South Africa and we don’t often find the wonderful things you get over there. The import tax to South Africa is very high so I have to find the items here. Is the iridescent cellophane available at a stationary shop or do I look for it at resin shops. I have worked with resin many, many moons ago, but decided to start again and just about every thing have changed the past 50 years and I have to learn new methods and techniques. Let's Resin Alcohol inks are one of the best at not fading in sunlight. There are opaque resin dyes, Let's Resin also has a set of those. My favorite way to just color resin without using a paste is Acrylic ink, you can achieve anything from transparent to opaque with acrylic inks. Another favorite is Octopus Resin Inks, which are a form of alcohol ink, but are more color than alcohol. You can use them as a color for resin and for blooms that you don't want to spread as much as it will with alcohol ink. They also make alcohol inks, so be sure you are getting the right one. There is also glow powders and thermochromatic powders. Glow of course glow in the dark. There are also glow dyes and alcohol inks. Thermochromatic powders change color with hot and cold. Your hands, your drinks, and even lights or sun can cause reactions. You can also get a liquid version of it that you can use in the channel of the rings to create a mood ring. The last one I've thought of is embossing powders. You don't mix embossing powders into the resin. You let it cure, then use a stamp to put a print using embossing ink onto the resin, then sprinkle on embossing powder. Then you use a heat gun to basically melt the powder. You get a sparkly stamped design. Then, top coat it to protect it. Oh, I just thought of another. Markers for edging finished projects.
Michelle, this is a much needed video. I have been doing resin and watching resin artists like you for over a year. I could have used all of this info when I first started. But then I would have missed out on a lot of great videos. 😊 The only thing I want to add is a lot of companies who make mica powder also offer trial packs of their colors. Hello and thank you for all that valuable information. I am new to the resin world and trying to get a good understanding of how things work. If you ever get a chance can you please breakdown the different types of resin and what and when to use them. I’m especially confused about the definitions of resin, epoxy resin. Casting resin, quick drying, deep pouring, and UV resin can you mix them? When I have extra resin can I mix with other resins. Like type a with type a. Or type b with another type b. I don’t know what to say with the leftovers. And finally how to dispose of the empty jugs. Can I just toss in the trash? Thank you for everything. Having an example to go with each technique would have been very helpful! Did you know you can make your own pigment paste? It's easy to do! 😮 If you have any resin that you don't use because it turns yellow, or it's to thin or to thin ect. 🤷 All you need to do is use the part of resin that is NOT the hardener, pour out the amount you want and mix in any colorant that you have, mica, paint, alcohol ink ect. Keep it in an air tight container and your done. 😉
Thanks for the great ideas. It’s been my experience that faceted stones don’t work well in resin. The resin kind of cancels out the facets and makes them look very flat.
I'm not completely sure where to find it in a store, we rely on Amazon and Temu here in the states! I wish I could just walk into a store and find items, but we can't...
Everyone always says to use alcohol ink to color resin, but in my experience the color is almost completely gone 6 months later. So I never use alcohol ink in my resin projects.

Here's a link for large amounts of shell in different colors: amzn.to/46qDLtT and for keychains I use 8mm 9mm and 10 mm jumprings.
@@glitznglitterbymichelle1 thanks so much Michelle! I really appreciate you!
Yes!! I actually did a video on that a while back!
Thanks for the great ideas. It’s been my experience that faceted stones don’t work well in resin. The resin kind of cancels out the facets and makes them look very flat.
Yep! I've learned that over and over I finally think I've got it that I won't try it again LOL
I wonder what would happen if you tried putting like hena in resin as natural colorants.?.?
I’m not sure 🤔 try it!
OMG.....I can't believe you didn't mention vinyl!
lol now that you mention it I can’t believe it either 😂
@glitznglitterbymichelle1 I was looking at it hanging on the door in the background the whole time screaming don't forget vinyl Michelle🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Can you mix fine mica powder and holographic chunky glitter
I don’t see why not 🙂
@glitznglitterbymichelle1 thank you so much Greatly appreciated

I'm not completely sure where to find it in a store, we rely on Amazon and Temu here in the states! I wish I could just walk into a store and find items, but we can't...
I hate mica powder unless I brush them directly onto the mould. I dislike the lines it leaves once cured. Takes the look away from my projects 😢
Everyone always says to use alcohol ink to color resin, but in my experience the color is almost completely gone 6 months later. So I never use alcohol ink in my resin projects.
That’s what I hear as well but so far mine haven’t faded that have stayed indoors. I typically only use Let’s Resin and Piccassio brands
