i like the grimm brothers tales and how it was sort of repurposed in ravens story because it showed all the dark things she'd go through not just apple's story of how she falls in love and gets married

She was right though. I felt it as a roast but she had it coming, going on and on about how perfect everything would be for everyone when she wasn't really considering what that meant for other characters.

Mel is maleficent’s daughter and In ever after high it’s the Fay bell and evil queen’s daughter is Evie and in ever after high it’s Raven so in ever after high it’s raven the main character and Mel the main in descendants and the evilest is Maleficent in descendants and the evilest is the evil queen in ever after high…. Honestly I think the evil queen is the evilest….. I mean it says it in her name

My favorite part of the show was the amount of effort put into the character’s looks. Everything about their outfits, hairs, etc was so unique and lively, and it fit their personalities very well.
I know! I have a couple of favourites in the design department. Maddie Hatter (Chaotic order, just an absolute joy to look at and is hands down my favourite character in EAH.) Lizzie Heart (I’m a total sucker for Alice in Wonderland, and safe to say Lizzie didn’t inherit her mother’s looks OR her fashion sense.) Darling Charming (Love the smaller knight detailing on her outfit, and her whole regal look as well. Very Royal.) Apple White (Couldn’t stand this girl, but WOW she had a good taste in fashion. However, her passive aggression still irks me to this day.) Kitty Cheshire (Second fave. Again, I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Wonderland. Still, I loved her cat aesthetic. Very appealing to look at.)
They also had intended to do a crossover movie with Monster High and Ever After High because Cupid appears in both shows. They even released the storyboard with some voice acting. RIP
This show was honestly beautiful. The aesthetics, the character outfits and makeup, the voices, the animation, just all of it was GORGEOUS. Even the story was really interesting and something for kids to learn a lot from. I may be an adult now but it's beautiful. So much better than descendants.
I agree. Even as a child, I loved Ever After High a lot more than The Descendants. I just found them very boring. I remember Madeline being my favorite.

They probably didnt want to risk lawsuits. Disney can play really dirty if something is similar. One the reasons why the kimba/lion king debate is huge is because disney tried to prevent jungle emperor leo from being released in the states(or even finshed) with cease and desists because of being "too similar" despite kimba being made before lion king. And the worst part is the studio did get scared because disney is huge and hard to compete against.

Daring (a guy) kisses her but she's still asleep whereas Charming (the girl) kisses her and she wakes up. Bc the show got discontinued we never got to see apples realization that her true love was a girl and it's against pretty much everything she stood for "messing" up her future. Being a slight hypocrite to Raven too. And her feelings abt the situation overall....:(
Maturing is realizing that Snow White was the villain for pushing Apple and manipulating her to follow her own destiny. In the Dragon games, when Snow White was face timing Apple, Snow asked Apple to sabotage Raven to be evil and Apple refuse. Then Snow said, "How much do you want OUR happily ever after." Both Apple and Raven are selfish, both made mistakes. Apple was being selfish to prove herself to her mom and Raven wants her own freedom.
tbh I still don't see raven as selfish, no one wants to be locked up for the rest of their life and be seen as a murderer/criminal. It's normal that she wants to survive and have a life instead of letting herself be bullied into a life she doesn't want. She has every right to do so.
Maturing is realizing that Apple wanted to follow her true destiny since the first season BY HERSELF. Heck episode one to be exact! Even before the headmaster lied to her and told her she would "disappear", she still selfishly only thought about herself. She even asked raven to poison her cake and this was WAAAY before her mom even showed herself in the show. There are no excuses for Apple and no one manipulated her. She still failed to realize that not everybody has it good the way she does. It was honestly so good seeing everyone calling her out on her ways. It was also nice finding out that daring isn't even her true love. I understand why people think raven is selfish, but no one disappeared so everything turned out to be fine. Also who would want to be on the streets and locked away forever after

Apple is definitely more selfish, why should Raven give away her own happiness just so Apple can have a happy ending? If Raven doesn't follow her destiny they both have a chance at a happily ever after, although it may be different than what Apple imagined for herself. If she does she's guaranteed a bad ending while Apple is guaranteed a good one. It's 100% on Apple to compromise in that situation
that is FACTS I love the flow of the characters and the music is great and just the whole look of the show with that like the "bright bleeding colors" vibe in the intro. SO AESTHETIC

Well, in Apple’s defence, she didn’t really know any better. Her mother and Headmaster Grimm manipulated her using fear tactics into thinking that if the Book isn’t signed, then everyone basically dies. And I think in her own weird way, Apple really didn’t want anything bad to happen to Raven. I also think it’s an important detail that the “Storybook of Legends” only showed Apple the ups to following her Destiny. It didn’t show her locking Raven away forever or Raven suffering, because Grimm knew that if Apple saw that then she wouldn’t go through with it because she would never want Raven to be hurt because of her actions. Don’t get me wrong, Apple is no saint. After all, she unleashed the Evil Queen during a temper tantrum and then FOR SOME REASON didn’t bring it up with Raven, who PROBABLY should’ve been told that her mom was now free and just walking around Ever After High. But, I can’t entirely blame her either. Plus, she did see where Raven was coming from eventually, and credit where it’s due Apple was really REALLY proactive about her role as future monarch of Ever After. Also, there is ONE more reason that Apple was so obsessed with her Destiny. In the original book series written by Shannon Hale, it’s revealed that when she was six years old Apple fell down a well by accident. She couldn’t get out, and thought that she was going to die. Her mother’s guards found her and got her out, but she realised something. Without her Destiny... Without that future that’s set in stone and predetermined for her... She would be left to the mercy of the real world. She can die horrifically. She can just wither away and be hurt in ways she can’t even fathom. So that’s another reason why Apple was so obsessed with signing the Book. She was absolutely terrified of what would happen to her if her Destiny never happened. If it, figuratively, went ‘poof’.

AND in the books it’s revealed that Apple nearly drowned when she was 6, so she’s absolutely paranoid about her Destiny falling apart because then she’s at the mercy of the Fairytale World and she would lack the security her Destiny offers.

To be fair to Disney, the movie was an adaptation/continuation of a book series by Melissa De la Cruz, so they name we’re not their idea. Also the books go deeper into the characters psychological issues which I love. *I still think EAH is better though*
As someone who loves both Disney Descendents and EAH/MH, I cannot express my anger and frustration that Descendents got EAH killed. It just had a better a story and worldbuilding than Descendents and had SO much potential
@@ChaoticNalilitoMC (This was mostly taken from a sort of website I found of somebody giving their opinion) Basically, EAH dolls were more expensive, and for a good reason too. If you compare past designs of Descendants dolls and EAH dolls, you can quite clearly see the difference. I’ll try to find a link if asked. More accessories, more mobility, etc. But parents were now given a choice between a more expensive doll, with a most likely unfamiliar brand name, and a less expensive doll, with a name brand. So basically, Disney overshadowed EAH by a landslide due to its brand name. I’m not very sure about why the company sorta depleted quality, maybe to give even cheaper dolls out in an attempt to compete, I’m not sure.
I love both EAH and Decedent's, but EAH was/is so much better. The plot actually makes sense, keeps you engaged, and slowly shows character development. Decendents does the opposite it throws in characters randomly, tries to make their destinies intertwine, and randomly has a character change from bad to good and vise versa.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who actually thinks ever after high is good. It’s so underrated. The characters, the design, the plot, and even the books are good.
I think the logic is deeply flawed... For example, their parents are married and gave birth to the protagonists. They are expected to follow the same path as their parents, but how is that possible? there can´t be a daughter of snowwhite and a son of the Prince without them being related. And if they were expected to marry just some random royal, that would interfere with their personal destiny, or to be more specific, the destiny of their parents. major plot hole. But that´s the only issue I have.
Jennifer 0312 it’s explained in the books. The Charming family is a very big family, in different branches spread across the kingdoms. Non of the kids of the Charming families know which story they belong to. But Daring charming was the eldest charming in Apple’s year, and he was known as the good looking one, so everyone just figured he must be destined for Snow White’s story. Plus he liked Apple and Apple liked him. This is pretty much the basis for Daring’s sister Darling’s story. She uneasy and stressed because just about everyone at Ever After High has their destiny laid out in front of them. But since she’s a Charming, she doesn’t know who she’s meant to be.
im so late but i realize how sad it is that raven is so heavily mistreated because she is the daughter of the evil queen. mistreatment can cause characters to become villains, but she chose to be good.
Ever after high is like a show you can watch over and over again without getting bored of it, the music, the characters, the story. It gives of this sort of vibes when i watch it. So sad it ended like this :(
I love that song! The "Do You Wonder" was also a jam and "Power Princess Shinning Bright" is one of the dopest rock songs I ever heard! That song goes HARD!

As someone who read the books that were also written for these characters as a kid, i must say that i really liked them, and the Madeline and the narrator battles were quite interesting and sweet
What angers me is that they stopped running the official EAH website. Instead, the URL now sends you to their doll shop. That website used to have the full episodes and movies in chronological order and even fun games. As kid, I never imagined I'd lose those. I feel stupid now.
They really treating this show like trash, EAH storylines were better than even Monster High in my opinion and were just as good as BRATZ who might I add are QUEENS AND ICONIC! I just wish they kept going, because who I CAN’T make NEW DOLLS! If there aren’t NEW SEASONS!

also want to add that the fashion in ever after high is some of the COOLEST and most beautiful cartoon fashion you’ll ever see, even the doll costumes have so much detail put into them that it’s amazing. especially compared to descendants, where everyone just has a different color of mismatched faux leather.

Sadly both Ever After High and Monster High got screwed over. A crossover movie was planned, but got cancelled due to Ever After High getting cancelled and Monster High getting rebooted. I still believe Dragon Games was the height of Ever After High, so much was at stake.

Glad I'm not the only guy who enjoyed this series, because it was legitimately good, and unlike Monster High, this focused on choice and consequences, not just fashion and what not.
Geoff Roach I don’t think that was the base for monster high, tbh monster high relentlessly pushed flaws and differences a lot and it taught kids how to accept not only their own flaws and uniqueness but how to respect other people’s flaws and differences too. Like the brand always said “Be yourself, Be unique, Be a Monster.” And that infamous “Monster high is a place for all monsters to be themselves.” Ect ect.
That is not what Monster High is about, it's always telling people to be themselves because we all have freaky flaws and that's what makes us great. Just because they have amazing outfits doesn't mean it's all about fashion

The Writing: Top-notch The Characters Design: *AWARD WORTHY.* Everything about EAH was just a part of my childhood, it sucks that they stopped making it. I'm sure many people were dying for this series to have a comeback, and I'm one of them. *And Briar's line for roasting Apple, my gosh. The people knew what they were doing, and they killed it. Ever after high was quite a creative story. The characters were neatly written and I love the clothing that matches their original fairytales but with a twist. Descendants wasn’t a quality movie. I do like the songs and the dances. What obviously couldn’t get wrong since kenny ortega choreographed the whole series. But the story was bland and the characters weren’t really interesting. The clothing was awful. I only liked the dresses Evie made during the movie. It is a ripp off and sad that the series canceled because of this. Maybe one day it will come back.
The books are very worth reading. The reason Apple wants her destiny so badly is because she almost DIED as a child so her story going as planned is a form of safety for her. Ironically. P.S. They touch on other characters like the witch’s in some stories who are REQUIRED to eat children. Yeah. Their decedents have to eat human children and they are as disgusted and sad about it as you think. This show/book gets dark (in implications not graphically) and it would be awesome if someone took these concepts and ran with them in a few years because holy hell is it epic and morally complex.
Ever after high was the goodest shit bru, I rewatched the shorts over and over again. The art REALLY influenced me, and the opening is absolutely beautiful.

Okay so I realized a lot of people are saying EAH never asked Disney’s permission to use “their characters”. OMFG- Disney never “OWNED” the characters. They are FAIRY TALES. EAH followed the actual story lines used by the authors that made them and turned it into a story where their children exist. They weren’t movies originally thought out by Disney themselves. They’re actual BOOKS and FAIRYTALES and I guess Disney never said “yeah go check the books out” Some Examples Example: -Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll -Snow White by Wilhelm Grimm & Jacob Grimm -Cinderella by Charles Perrault -Sleeping Beauty by Charles Perrault -Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault -Cupid on the other hand is based off of Greek Mythology (or Roman Mythology, ty for correcting me) -EXT.

Honestly, It's kinda annoying to see some people think Disney "invented" Snow white, Cinderella, ect and have license to their stories in every single way. The only few things Disney did own is their interpretation of the story, not the OG tales (I feel like Disney could have "trademark" the OG stories if they could and/or wanted to and pull a nitendo copyright strike if anyone tried to make something "similar" and/or better but still original). EAH used the OG's story for their character's background with little yet different alteration than Disney's, same as every single fairytale inspired media. And each fairytale has numerous different versions from various publishers and cultures even until today, so virtually there isn't a "true" version of each fairytale.

I've seen some comments going "EAH didn't get Disney's permission to use their stories" as if all fairytales belong to Disney (I don't blame them for not knowing this, but some are just stupidly ignorant). It's been explained that EAH used the "OG" old-school fairytales (with slight alterations such as certain villains still alive and raising families) for their basis, and not "Disney's" version of them.

She does not want to poison Apple and be evil , she believes it's only right to not follow her destiny. Because EVERYONE deserves a happily ever after , the royals are not the only ones who should have a happy ending. So to sum it all , Raven is the one who cares about everybody else. She knows that they don't have to follow the footsteps of their parents to be happy and to have a good ending. Because they are not their parents , they can also rewrite the destiny opposed to others claims they should be when they could be someone they want and have a different perception in life.

Disney took one look at Raven and Faybelle and was like, "What if we copy them.......but reverse the colour schemes?! No one's gonna know the difference!" Like Mal is all violet spectrum with the accents and stuff. That was Raven's EAH aesthetic. But she has every other characteristic Faybelle had, like the need to prove a point to her mother, endless troublemaking because she always feels like she isn't enough if she doesn't make a mess, but being DEATHLY loyal once she'd actually gotten over prejudice AND being jealous of others having it easier than her. (And both end up with a dorky, imperfect guy who worships the very ground they walk on.) Also, Darling being Apple's Prince(ss) Charming?! EXCUSE YOU, Descendants could *NEVER* have that type of quality. Briar had personality and played an ACTUAL part in how the story turned out, Audrey's just bloody annoying and only there as a side-piece to glorify Mal. Rapunzel had *TWINS* Like in the original tale. The Grimm brothers are the headmasters in the story as the creators of the story. Rosabelle beats Ben ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Cerise is your gender-stereotype-breaking, badassery committing, tomboy-of-the-century ROYALTY. Disney couldn't even come up with original names. Maleficent = Mal, Evil Queen = Evie, Cruella De'vil = Carlos, Jafar = Jay......The list goes on. (The only one I think actually had some thought put into it was Zevon, Yzma's son. Atleast it didn't rhyme with her name like every other fricking one) I could rant about this all day, okay. *TL;DR* If it wasn't clear, I'm most certainly salty about Disney trying to one-up Mattel in this game, because storyline-wise, aesthetic-wise AND character-wise, Ever After High is ALWAYS going to be better and far more superior. I'm not dissing any of the actors who played the characters because they did a beautiful job playing the character they were given, BUT GET YOUR SLIMY HANDS OFF MY EVER AFTER HIGH AND MY FAIRY TALE CHILDREN, DISNEY.
Unpopular opinion: Apple got great character development. She always annoyed me because she was always trying to force Raven to do things she didn’t want to do, and only cared about her own destiny, but as we can see, that’s not the case. Apple was just naive, and she was told that she and all of her friends would disappear if it never happened. Then the Evil Queen ark happens, she gets manipulated again, and is forced to go to the wood place thingy. After the whole situation in the forest, she started to see that it didn’t matter and that all she needed to do was stop everything that happened and repair what she caused.
It was also because apple had a near death experience in the books and she thought she wouldnt have to die if she followed her destiny also i think its mainly her mother gaslighting her to continue the legacy
I agree, maturing realize that Snow White was the villain for pushing Apple and manipulating her to follow her own destiny. In the Dragon games, when Snow White was face timing Apple, Snow asked Apple to sabotage Raven to be evil and Apple refuse. Then Snow said, "How much do you want OUR happily ever after." Both Apple and Raven are selfish, both made mistakes. Apple was being selfish to prove herself to her mom and Raven wants her own freedom.

apple was really selfish in the show now that i think back to it.. she didn't respect raven's choice on wanting to write her own destiny or not wanting to pursue her 'evil mom's' destiny, and it was very CLEAR that headmaster grimm and all of the students was in favor of apple white which made her REALLY privileged alongside being a royal.
The headmaster was secretly in charge of all the kingdoms because the royals would ask him for advice about everything. If each generation signs the book they end up following him like their parents.
I love the fact that that everyone assumed Daring charming was gonna end up with Apple but there was the big plot twist that revealed she would end up with Darling instead and that everyone just ASSUMED Apple and Daring were endgame lmao
Monster High and Ever After High were elite takes me back to them preteen days. I was around 15 when descendants came out and watched it with my younger sister and it was shit tbh.
When I first saw descendants at a sleepover, I got bored really fast. I barely paid attention, and the movie was fast paced in the worst way... the characters were also bland and unrelatable
Well I watched the first 2 movies but got bored,then I read the books and THEN watched the movies and I was all like oh wow I like this,now I'm gonna watch maleficent 2.... Now this is MY opinion
I love Maddie so much as a character! It's smart to make her not be just a wacky nonsense character, because where she comes from nonsense makes sence. It's not just a "iM qUiRkY" thing, because it's normal to be mad and speak in riddles in Wonderland. It's genius, and this show is one of the few things I'd sell my soul, to see back.
I got really sad when they stopped making episodes, because it looked like to me that they were setting Apple up to become the villain of the story because as the show continued, she just became more and more awful towards Raven and the other rebels and more obsessive about having the *right* destiny.
You should see Way Too Wonderland. Apple got some character development and saw Raven's POV. EDIT: Also see the Dragon Games. It really highlights Apple's character development!

That's not true. Ever After High stopped because the animators/animation studios were no longer working with them. They probably prioritized Monster High's reboot and just didn't continue EAH with a new animation. There is no reason for EAH to stop making episodes because of Descendants, EAH was based off of Grimm's fairytales while Descendants was based on Disney.
It’s so annoying because descendants could never be half of what ever after high is. Ever after high had a proper concept and an idea going for its story. UGH! It could’ve been so much more.

We see Raven going through a lot, even feeling guilt to the extent that she is willing to sign the book on her own accord. Does Apple get a character growth moment that has that much maturity and depth? Nope. And her working with the Evil Queen is just her own insecurities and desire for her happily ever after coming into play in a dark way. It may be interesting and shows some depth but there isn't real growth or maturity there. It also doesn't help that she seems to guilt trip Raven a lot and goes sob mode most of the time when there is a serious conflict between Raven and her.

Honestly? Now that Disney has officially ended Descendants, Mattel probably could, start Ever After High up again. I've seen people state in other comments someone needs to start a petition to send to Mattel, and they do because if you get proof they have a large profitable fanbase still, which they could add to buy making new dolls/webisodes/movies. They'll have a reason to put the money and time back into it.

My favorite part of the show was the amount of effort put into the character’s looks. Everything about their outfits, hairs, etc was so unique and lively, and it fit their personalities very well.

Darling Charming (Love the smaller knight detailing on her outfit, and her whole regal look as well. Very Royal.)
Apple White (Couldn’t stand this girl, but WOW she had a good taste in fashion. However, her passive aggression still irks me to this day.)
Kitty Cheshire (Second fave. Again, I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Wonderland. Still, I loved her cat aesthetic. Very appealing to look at.)

This show was honestly beautiful. The aesthetics, the character outfits and makeup, the voices, the animation, just all of it was GORGEOUS. Even the story was really interesting and something for kids to learn a lot from. I may be an adult now but it's beautiful. So much better than descendants.

They probably didnt want to risk lawsuits. Disney can play really dirty if something is similar. One the reasons why the kimba/lion king debate is huge is because disney tried to prevent jungle emperor leo from being released in the states(or even finshed) with cease and desists because of being "too similar" despite kimba being made before lion king. And the worst part is the studio did get scared because disney is huge and hard to compete against.

tbh I still don't see raven as selfish, no one wants to be locked up for the rest of their life and be seen as a murderer/criminal. It's normal that she wants to survive and have a life instead of letting herself be bullied into a life she doesn't want. She has every right to do so.
Maturing is realizing that Apple wanted to follow her true destiny since the first season BY HERSELF. Heck episode one to be exact! Even before the headmaster lied to her and told her she would "disappear", she still selfishly only thought about herself. She even asked raven to poison her cake and this was WAAAY before her mom even showed herself in the show. There are no excuses for Apple and no one manipulated her. She still failed to realize that not everybody has it good the way she does. It was honestly so good seeing everyone calling her out on her ways. It was also nice finding out that daring isn't even her true love. I understand why people think raven is selfish, but no one disappeared so everything turned out to be fine. Also who would want to be on the streets and locked away forever after

Apple is definitely more selfish, why should Raven give away her own happiness just so Apple can have a happy ending? If Raven doesn't follow her destiny they both have a chance at a happily ever after, although it may be different than what Apple imagined for herself. If she does she's guaranteed a bad ending while Apple is guaranteed a good one. It's 100% on Apple to compromise in that situation

Well, in Apple’s defence, she didn’t really know any better. Her mother and Headmaster Grimm manipulated her using fear tactics into thinking that if the Book isn’t signed, then everyone basically dies. And I think in her own weird way, Apple really didn’t want anything bad to happen to Raven. I also think it’s an important detail that the “Storybook of Legends” only showed Apple the ups to following her Destiny. It didn’t show her locking Raven away forever or Raven suffering, because Grimm knew that if Apple saw that then she wouldn’t go through with it because she would never want Raven to be hurt because of her actions.
Don’t get me wrong, Apple is no saint. After all, she unleashed the Evil Queen during a temper tantrum and then FOR SOME REASON didn’t bring it up with Raven, who PROBABLY should’ve been told that her mom was now free and just walking around Ever After High. But, I can’t entirely blame her either. Plus, she did see where Raven was coming from eventually, and credit where it’s due Apple was really REALLY proactive about her role as future monarch of Ever After.
Also, there is ONE more reason that Apple was so obsessed with her Destiny. In the original book series written by Shannon Hale, it’s revealed that when she was six years old Apple fell down a well by accident. She couldn’t get out, and thought that she was going to die. Her mother’s guards found her and got her out, but she realised something. Without her Destiny... Without that future that’s set in stone and predetermined for her... She would be left to the mercy of the real world. She can die horrifically. She can just wither away and be hurt in ways she can’t even fathom. So that’s another reason why Apple was so obsessed with signing the Book. She was absolutely terrified of what would happen to her if her Destiny never happened. If it, figuratively, went ‘poof’.

When I first heard about Descendants, I thought Mal was like, a hacker. And her name was short for Malware. I don't know why I thought that, but it's still better than the reason her name is Mal
To be fair to Disney, the movie was an adaptation/continuation of a book series by Melissa De la Cruz, so they name we’re not their idea. Also the books go deeper into the characters psychological issues which I love.

Basically, EAH dolls were more expensive, and for a good reason too. If you compare past designs of Descendants dolls and EAH dolls, you can quite clearly see the difference. I’ll try to find a link if asked. More accessories, more mobility, etc. But parents were now given a choice between a more expensive doll, with a most likely unfamiliar brand name, and a less expensive doll, with a name brand. So basically, Disney overshadowed EAH by a landslide due to its brand name. I’m not very sure about why the company sorta depleted quality, maybe to give even cheaper dolls out in an attempt to compete, I’m not sure.

I love both EAH and Decedent's, but EAH was/is so much better. The plot actually makes sense, keeps you engaged, and slowly shows character development. Decendents does the opposite it throws in characters randomly, tries to make their destinies intertwine, and randomly has a character change from bad to good and vise versa.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who actually thinks ever after high is good. It’s so underrated. The characters, the design, the plot, and even the books are good.

I think the logic is deeply flawed... For example, their parents are married and gave birth to the protagonists. They are expected to follow the same path as their parents, but how is that possible? there can´t be a daughter of snowwhite and a son of the Prince without them being related. And if they were expected to marry just some random royal, that would interfere with their personal destiny, or to be more specific, the destiny of their parents. major plot hole. But that´s the only issue I have.
Jennifer 0312 it’s explained in the books. The Charming family is a very big family, in different branches spread across the kingdoms. Non of the kids of the Charming families know which story they belong to. But Daring charming was the eldest charming in Apple’s year, and he was known as the good looking one, so everyone just figured he must be destined for Snow White’s story. Plus he liked Apple and Apple liked him. This is pretty much the basis for Daring’s sister Darling’s story. She uneasy and stressed because just about everyone at Ever After High has their destiny laid out in front of them. But since she’s a Charming, she doesn’t know who she’s meant to be.

As someone who read the books that were also written for these characters as a kid, i must say that i really liked them, and the Madeline and the narrator battles were quite interesting and sweet

Ever after high was quite a creative story. The characters were neatly written and I love the clothing that matches their original fairytales but with a twist. Descendants wasn’t a quality movie. I do like the songs and the dances. What obviously couldn’t get wrong since kenny ortega choreographed the whole series. But the story was bland and the characters weren’t really interesting. The clothing was awful. I only liked the dresses Evie made during the movie. It is a ripp off and sad that the series canceled because of this. Maybe one day it will come back.
I hate Descendants even more than Manny from Diary Of A Wimpy Kid and that says a LOT
The books are very worth reading. The reason Apple wants her destiny so badly is because she almost DIED as a child so her story going as planned is a form of safety for her. Ironically.
P.S. They touch on other characters like the witch’s in some stories who are REQUIRED to eat children. Yeah. Their decedents have to eat human children and they are as disgusted and sad about it as you think. This show/book gets dark (in implications not graphically) and it would be awesome if someone took these concepts and ran with them in a few years because holy hell is it epic and morally complex.

Okay so I realized a lot of people are saying EAH never asked Disney’s permission to use “their characters”. OMFG- Disney never “OWNED” the characters. They are FAIRY TALES. EAH followed the actual story lines used by the authors that made them and turned it into a story where their children exist. They weren’t movies originally thought out by Disney themselves. They’re actual BOOKS and FAIRYTALES and I guess Disney never said “yeah go check the books out”

Honestly, It's kinda annoying to see some people think Disney "invented" Snow white, Cinderella, ect and have license to their stories in every single way. The only few things Disney did own is their interpretation of the story, not the OG tales (I feel like Disney could have "trademark" the OG stories if they could and/or wanted to and pull a nitendo copyright strike if anyone tried to make something "similar" and/or better but still original). EAH used the OG's story for their character's background with little yet different alteration than Disney's, same as every single fairytale inspired media.
And each fairytale has numerous different versions from various publishers and cultures even until today, so virtually there isn't a "true" version of each fairytale.

Disney took one look at Raven and Faybelle and was like, "What if we copy them.......but reverse the colour schemes?! No one's gonna know the difference!"
Like Mal is all violet spectrum with the accents and stuff. That was Raven's EAH aesthetic. But she has every other characteristic Faybelle had, like the need to prove a point to her mother, endless troublemaking because she always feels like she isn't enough if she doesn't make a mess, but being DEATHLY loyal once she'd actually gotten over prejudice AND being jealous of others having it easier than her.
And Evie was the blue spectrum with the different funky hair and sassy attitude. That was Faybelle's EAH aesthetic. But she still had Raven's personality, like choosing her own way and being bold enough to stick to it, being a generally really sweet person despite everyone looking down on her as the daughter of the evil queen, Being hella frickin smart at everything AND not to forget being a queen of simply non-conforming to "perfection". (And both end up with a dorky, imperfect guy who worships the very ground they walk on.)
Also, Darling being Apple's Prince(ss) Charming?!

Disney couldn't even come up with original names.
Maleficent = Mal, Evil Queen = Evie, Cruella De'vil = Carlos, Jafar = Jay......The list goes on. (The only one I think actually had some thought put into it was Zevon, Yzma's son. Atleast it didn't rhyme with her name like every other fricking one)
I could rant about this all day, okay.
*TL;DR* If it wasn't clear, I'm most certainly salty about Disney trying to one-up Mattel in this game, because storyline-wise, aesthetic-wise AND character-wise, Ever After High is ALWAYS going to be better and far more superior.
I'm not dissing any of the actors who played the characters because they did a beautiful job playing the character they were given, BUT GET YOUR SLIMY HANDS OFF MY EVER AFTER HIGH AND MY FAIRY TALE CHILDREN, DISNEY.

Unpopular opinion: Apple got great character development.
She always annoyed me because she was always trying to force Raven to do things she didn’t want to do, and only cared about her own destiny, but as we can see, that’s not the case. Apple was just naive, and she was told that she and all of her friends would disappear if it never happened. Then the Evil Queen ark happens, she gets manipulated again, and is forced to go to the wood place thingy. After the whole situation in the forest, she started to see that it didn’t matter and that all she needed to do was stop everything that happened and repair what she caused.
unpopular (?) opinion: lizzie, maddie, and kitty needed more screen time together- they would defo be best friends

I agree, maturing realize that Snow White was the villain for pushing Apple and manipulating her to follow her own destiny. In the Dragon games, when Snow White was face timing Apple, Snow asked Apple to sabotage Raven to be evil and Apple refuse. Then Snow said, "How much do you want OUR happily ever after."
Both Apple and Raven are selfish, both made mistakes. Apple was being selfish to prove herself to her mom and Raven wants her own freedom.

apple was really selfish in the show now that i think back to it.. she didn't respect raven's choice on wanting to write her own destiny or not wanting to pursue her 'evil mom's' destiny, and it was very CLEAR that headmaster grimm and all of the students was in favor of apple white which made her REALLY privileged alongside being a royal.

Monster High and Ever After High were elite takes me back to them preteen days. I was around 15 when descendants came out and watched it with my younger sister and it was shit tbh.

I love Maddie so much as a character! It's smart to make her not be just a wacky nonsense character, because where she comes from nonsense makes sence. It's not just a "iM qUiRkY" thing, because it's normal to be mad and speak in riddles in Wonderland. It's genius, and this show is one of the few things I'd sell my soul, to see back.

the music, the characters, the outfits, the details, storyline and voice acting is all just amazing.
I got really sad when they stopped making episodes, because it looked like to me that they were setting Apple up to become the villain of the story because as the show continued, she just became more and more awful towards Raven and the other rebels and more obsessive about having the *right* destiny.
You should see Way Too Wonderland. Apple got some character development and saw Raven's POV.

That's not true. Ever After High stopped because the animators/animation studios were no longer working with them. They probably prioritized Monster High's reboot and just didn't continue EAH with a new animation. There is no reason for EAH to stop making episodes because of Descendants, EAH was based off of Grimm's fairytales while Descendants was based on Disney.

@@JustAChinesePleb If Raven is selfish, which she can be seen as such I will admit, Apple is just as selfish if not more in my eyes, and in ways it is worse coming from the perspective of the underdog and less priviledged. Or at the very least Apple's perspective is pretty narrow and that is something that hardly changes. We see Raven going through a lot, even feeling guilt to the extent that she is willing to sign the book on her own accord. Does Apple get a character growth moment that has that much maturity and depth? Nope. And her working with the Evil Queen is just her own insecurities and desire for her happily ever after coming into play in a dark way. It may be interesting and shows some depth but there isn't real growth or maturity there. It also doesn't help that she seems to guilt trip Raven a lot and goes sob mode most of the time when there is a serious conflict between Raven and her.

Honestly? Now that Disney has officially ended Descendants, Mattel probably could, start Ever After High up again. I've seen people state in other comments someone needs to start a petition to send to Mattel, and they do because if you get proof they have a large profitable fanbase still, which they could add to buy making new dolls/webisodes/movies. They'll have a reason to put the money and time back into it.
Exactly, and it makes perfect sense that they should. After putting it on hold for so long, they totally should pick it back up again. I mean, look at how much people want this show back, right? EAH's plot is a lot better than Descendants too.
