- The Pelikan M800 is one of my favorite fountain pens along with the Pilot Custom series of pens. Some time ago, I got the itch to get the bigger M1000 however I did not want to get just the standard M1000 in green or black. When I saw a used M1005 Stresemann for sale, I didn't hesitate to pick it up and here it is in this video.
In this video, I do a quick look at the M1005 Stresemann and contrast it against an M805 in my collection.
There is no perfect pen out there. Some pens are too unwieldy. Some are too harsh when writing. A pen is a very personal thing. All my pens are meant for writing and drawing, so in addition to a pen looking good, they must perform to my liking. If you like big pens with a soft touch, the M1000 series of pens might suit you.
Excellent video
So happy to see it in your collection. These ones are hard to come by.
Nice review! My thoughts exactly about both pens.
Also, I would appreciate seeing a M1000 vs. King of Pen comparison, as those are my two grails.
I've been wanting this M1005 Stresemann but got into the hobby too late. It's hard to find and 2nd hand Market for it is $$$
Great video!
I was in a "normal" place a couple of weeks ago and a guy bought one of those. I will ask the owner of the place to find one for me. I'll see how much they want to have for it ...
I really like Pelikan - much more than Montblanc - together with Sailor KOP and the Pilot Custom Urushi/845 are the ones I use the most.
One have to go which you keep? 149 or 1005 ?
Probably the M1005 as it's more unique
nice comparison
Hi Wrexel, thanks for this video! I'm looking for one of these two and even after your great comparisons, I'm still not sure which to get! I only have 2 very soft flexible pens in my collection, but I want the perfect grail and wondering if m800 is grail enough or if m1000 isn't that much more magnificent. I am hoping to try these two out at the pen show at the end of this month so I can determine my final choice! Again thanks so much for this comparison!
Hey @KenchanKrafts the M1000 is much more of a unique pen, just because of the nib. Closest nib wise would be the Montblanc 149 or the Pilot Custom Urushi. The M800 is for me a workhorse type pen.
I personally prefer the m800. I have ink in and use my m800 basically everyday because I can write quicker and easier with it because the the firmer nib. However, the soft m1000 nib is more fun. I always correct all references to the m1000 and a flex nib. The nib is solt but i do not consider the m1000 a nib a flex nib in any way. I put it this way ... the m800 is nearly a must have for me while the m1000 is nice to have but not actually necessarily. However, this is because of my personal expectations and preferences for fountain pens
Not easy to find this version, where did you find it? eBay?
Sorry for the late reply. I bought this from Yahoo Auctions Japan I believe.
10:45 M1005 be like 🏃♂🏃♂🏃♂🏃♂
😂
How do I use a soft nib foundation pen?
