The book “Sands of the Kalihari” (made into an excellent film) describes a water retrieval system where, using Cody’s guidance for finding likely spots for wet sand, the desert survivalist digs a slanted hole deep into the sand and creates a slightly widened chamber at the deepest, wettest level. The chamber is filled by a packed ball of grass. A tube (a hose, hollow reed, etc) is extended to the center of the grass ball in the chamber. The tunnel is backfilled with the sand (the grass ball prevents backfilling of the chamber). When the above ground end of the tube is sucked, the vacuum created in the chamber draws the sand’s water into it and up the tube to the mouth for drinking or filling a canteen. A Bushman technique.
Really.......in what way legit other than losing a lawsuit against the fake dual survival show.... Betcha Lundin wouldn't come within a 1000 miles of any REAL survival.... Lol!
Les Stroud once dug a small hole, peed in the hole, placed a small container in the middle of the hole(not submerged), then placed a small tarp(it was a plastic bag from his gear) over the pee hole and he weighed the corners of the tarp with rocks. Placing a rock in the middle of the tarp creates a dimple. Using the sun to evaporate the water out of the pee, then allowing it to condense on the bag/tarp and drip into the container in the middle.

Sam, I say you need to get a hobby and get out into the world. UA-cam is definitely not the place for that kind of weak constitution. Your response had nothing to do with mine, and it shows hard.
@@surecutsam6298 what drugs are you on and can I buy some
I love Cody. I don't believe he has an ego like so many claim, I believe he is a man confident in his abilities that wants people to grasp the seriousness of survival and wants them to realize you get it right or you die. This man has lived a life of survival nearly his entire life and he knows his knowledge and wisdom can keep people alive. It wasn't just a TV show to Cody, it was the lives of others in his hands. We need him back. Just him being on TV could save thousands of lives every year.
I love you Cody. I've watched the shows and I've done done creative surviving in the mountains! I love it and watching the shows very helpful. Thank you for sharing what you do and Dave too. You guy's are Awesome. Take care. Safe travels.
Awesome indeed..... Awesome fake you mean... Lundin didn't survive the lawsuit he brought against the fake show he was on very well.... Do some research lol!
@@surecutsam6298 You sure seem to have some issues with Cody. You've listed this same lawsuit remark in reply to at least a half dozen comment threads I've read. Did he kill your puppy?
@@CanItAlready are you a puppy of someone who can't hack it on a fake "survival" show, let alone a more real show?
Keyword there was Alone, but there's other shows where real and more competent "survival" types try out their skills.....
@@surecutsam6298 What a childish reply. I never claimed a survival expert. But the more you trash Cody Lundin--who you know won't even see your comments because this isn't his channel--the more I think it's you that can't hack it.
Cody got me into wilderness living back when I lived in new york city ten years ago. Now I'm in remote northern California mountains
Cody and Dave, my 2 favorite survivalist. Would love to attend their classes
I wish they'd bring back Dual Survival, it eas such a great show, Dave and Cody were amazing together, it seemed closer to the end of the show they had built a mutual respect for one another.
Cody love seeing your doing well as always you humor is top notch 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you man for showing him and do stuff like this, perfect job!
I always liked Cody's style. I call it "Subtle Survivalist".
Great stuff! Cody is good people.
Wow! I have been longing for a little Lundin common sense survival. With all the survival hucksters one the UA-cam and gear pitchmen it’s a breathe of fresh air. Now it will be another half decade before we get the barefoot badass in from the weeds again.
So much of what Cody had to say was about simply being prepared. Don't go into a dangerous environment without deeply thinking and deeply preparing. Great advice from the Barefoot Badass.
Cody serves up a dish of backcountry survival lore. I wish he had elaborated a little more about what to bring on any hike. In addition to water, your pack should contain the 10 essentials for even the shortest hike.
His book has a survival kit descibed in it and the youtube channel ranger survival and fieldcraft did a couple videos on the listed setup if you can't afford the book, though if you can afford it I recommend buying the book as well as watching tje videos I mentioned.
Thanks for the tips Cody. Hopefully ill see you again ,next year.
I took one of Cody’s courses in the desert, and it was a life changing experience. He is such a great guy, and he treats you like a friend you’ve known for years. He is a straight to the point no BS guy, and teaches safety first. I highly recommend taking one of his courses
Miss the show with Cody lundin..love you man...🤘
This man needs to get on Joe Rogans podcast asap
Hi Cody, i'm one of your biggest fan from Philippines. First time i watched your show with Dave i was only 15. Since then i loved going out in nature and try to do what you guys were doing back then. Works all the time. I hope to see you guys again in a challenge.
I always admired the way Cody goes about things but I'm definitely more prone to taking Dave's path, I think alot of it had to do with Cody growing up in the desert and Dave growing up in the woodlands
Awesome you met a legend Cody lundin and you interviewed him Awesome 👌
Great video! You should do a whole series with him.
If you want to see more of Cody, go over to m.facebook.com/Cody-Lundin-120144718081444/ and tell him you loved the video!
@@WastingTimeInTheWoods Please tell Cody I loved the Vid and Thank you for having him on! I cant go over to facebook because I dont do facebook but I Do do You Tube. You Sir have earned a sub from me Just for being cool in my book because you did a vid with Cody Lundin! Ill be checkin some more of your content out as well because I am also digging your humor so Thanks for sharing on You Tube👍
I usually consider hyperbole "bad" but in Cody's example to emphasize the point about water, he's totally right. It's a dealbreaker and could potentially be a death sentence to hike into somewhere expecting to find water and it not being there.
Cody was the only real person on dual survival. Other guys lied about their background
Matt Gram is the real deal as well.
Nahh Cody needs his own show.. leave the rest out please.. waste of my time
Dude Cody is a legend. Him and Dave need their own show again
Cody is an awesome guy
Cody! So glad to see him doing well!
Miss seeing Cody. Great video.
Cody! Love ya -- Good to see you.
I wish Cody & Dave did another survival series again.
Yeah, they had good chemistry
Aye that.... Fakery loves company.... Both of them wouldn't come within a thousand miles of any REAL survival, like Alone or Naked and Afraid.... 😉
@@surecutsam6298 What season were you on those shows?🤔
P.S. I love those shows.
@@JohnDoe-ff5gz None of course, just like Lundin. Both of us have the faculties to know that's not 'survival' but starvation tolerance and nobody is pretending any thriving. That's why blokes like Lundin, Canterbury, Teti, Graham et al..... Stay as far away as they can while they pad the bank accounts on fake survival shows with a camera crew, food fetchers and wot not in attendance, animals placed in situ and executed and bleating lawsuits by Lundin claiming loss of potential income for quitting......suppose he thought that's where his survival skills really were, but the judge would have none of it, and he walked barefooted and emptyhanded outta the court room....anyone googling Cody Lundin court case...shall find accordingly 😎
@@JohnDoe-ff5gz and aye, I like watching too from homely comforts and the knowledge that nobody these days can survive alone or in a small group out there long enough to breed and produce viable babies.... 🙄
Cody is one of my favourite guys about survival. He has good skills
Cody is a solid outdoorsman.
So great to see new content with Cody Lundin!
Pretty common sense...Especially with day Hikes which are the most dangerous because people tend to be less prepared. Always take a small pack with essentials incase your in a bad situation. Never go alone and let others know where your plans are and Don't deviate from the your game plan. Point of separation.
Cody is awesome and his book will not disappoint
just a minute in and Cody already seems DONE lmaoo. love him tho! i grew up on Dave and Cody❤️❤️
Ya he always seems annoyed that people don't know this shit already lol
