Abso-fuckin-lutely! Dave is a monster... Best drummer you've never heard of... Watched a video for a guitar pedal company on how Brian and Mike play Moda without the drums. Watching that really shows how much he adds to the music... Best ever
@@honeycomblord9384 Agreed. His bass riff in Arcing Silver from SUMAC literally crushes planets. It's ridiculous. My favorite of Russian Circles is the apex section on Mladek. Absolutely floored me.
I remember the first time I heard Russian circles.... This track is giving me the same feeling I had that first time. Unreal, relentless riffage. SUPREME

I was with a friend at a live concert in Bonn, Germany a few weeks back where they played this live. You could scrape us (and the rest of the audience) from the back wall...
Saw them opening for Clutch 2 or 3 times during the mid 2000's in the Baltimore area... Was blown away by them the first time seeing them and have been a big fan ever since. Really digging this album. Well worth the $9.99 the digital copy costs on Bandcamp.
This song makes me know 100% for an immutable fact, that the Divine is incarnate on this earth, and there are some of us that will forever be working in alignment with its will. Thank you for this expression of my soul's soul, for me to hear, across time and space.
@@MidWestWaters345 great point and I totally agree, but it’s still something needed, especially in the case of spirituality where you want certainty, not faith if you’re not a low level ape.
@@MidWestWaters345 kinda like a sewer pipe if you crawl through it’s full of gold at the end, but by the time you reach the gold you have no interest in wealth.
So realizing that RC started to tune their Guitars on A now? I mean they played most of their beauties on B just like i do Was trying to cover this and realizes that am half Note higher than them I thought i was out of tune for a moment Love this Album
Hoping to see you in Boston in November at The Sinclair!!! The last time I went to see you guys was also in Massachusetts, but I had a terrible kidney infection that forced me to lay on a bench in the lobby of the venue, in the fetal position. But I stayed as long as I could and what I heard "live" was absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait to pay you guys a proper visit🤘💀
So cool to hear Brian still playing in bands that I enjoy immensely (RC, Sumac...) having witnessed Botch (several times) leave a trail of destruction all throughout the Pacific Northwest back in the late '90s to their final show in Seattle back in '02...
Met Brian in 97 at a basement show in RI. They were touring with Nineironspitfire and Ink & Dagger. Before Botch blew up. Really amazing 25 years later Brian is still killing it. Great dude!
@@itdidnotworkmichael Nice man ;) There are some great low-res uploads here on YT of a bunch of early shows scattered around the US and abroad... I remember that intensity !!
This is the first time to hear this band. OHh my, it's like to hear some Black Metal with some Alternative / Grunge elements and then with Dark atmospheric landscapes. Great stuff !!!!! Alternative Black or Black Grunge?
Russian Circles never disappoints. They have some of the sickest chugging riffs ever, so heavy but still catchy af.
truth
and to hear those riffs live, it is mind blowing
@@dino4108yeah I watched them kick ass in a real small club in Dallas, they blew the doors of the hinges
Pretty sure that snare could be classified as a weapon of war. Russian Circles have the best drum sounds in rock and roll
Dave in general should be classified as a weapon of war!
I also love the sound of the snare of the new Shape of Despair LP. But yeah..Dave is such a savage.
And turncratz has a style of play that is so unique i never seen anyone drum like him

@@jarjaxle09 The foot work on this track is amazing
Brian Cook's bass tone.. I can't ever get enough.
It's what elevates stuff like "C. Thomas Howell As The 'Soul Man'" and "Youngblood" from great songs to masterpieces.

Neither does Brian… :)
Absolutely.
@@honeycomblord9384 wait a sec i've been casually listening to these guys and the bassist was in botch? Noice.
Russian circles seems to be angry... love it !

I can't get over how aggressive Russian Circles music is even without a vocalist. Much heavier than any of them.
Love to hear one of the most influential bands in post-metal starting lining more towards sludge instead of the other way around that we're used to.
Yeah, tired of all the post-metal band getting softer and cleaner after each album ...

Finally 2022 is delivering
I had a copy of Geneva and didn't think too much of it, but went to see them live earlier this year and they blew me away. Awesome band

Getting some Slayer vibes from that riff at 2:29. Awesome!
Listen to Arkangel’s Dead Man Walking
Mayhaps subliminally I suddenly had an urge to play South of Heaven 1/4 of the way through this wreckingball jam.
