    'Human heart and conflict with itself'. That's what fantasy and sci fi lacks, but not in a song of ice and fire. That's why George's books are so wonderful.

    A song of Ice and Fire is so good because GRRM has worked on television, this shit is like a precursor to THE WIRE in a way. And the show is also amazing because GRRM has worked on television

    It took George 3 years to write three books. And another 12 years to write two more. You are kidding yourself if you think he is finishing Winds of Winter before 2020. He has 200 pages so far for Winds of Winter, and Dance has been complete for two years now. George stated he was moving 200 pages from Dance to Winter. So that accounts for all progress done for Winds of Winter. Seriously. Just speaking the truth man. Don't be pissed at me.

    @VladofWallachiaandCa Actually, Jon Snow is in book 4 but from Sam the Slayer's perspective :)
    If the show airs that long they will certainly merge the two books into two seasons and show content from both books chronologically. Both books happen at the same time but from a different perspective

    you fail to see the point that 200 other pages ARE ON PAPER. To stick with your analogy, you can hand in a rough draft of that paper if you want to. You won't get a good grade, but you have what you want to say and you have it written down.

  • @Darth3492

    I have plenty of critical gripes with GRRM, don't get me wrong on that one. The first that come to mind are the various changes made in AFFC that I didn't like. I'm sad to see you 1.) assume I'm a super fanboy because I know WOW will come out, and 2.) the idea that you think I'm actually mad over this.

    I wouldn't get my hopes up. He recently blogged that he has 200 pages for Winds of Winter completed. This is the 200 pages that were bumped from Dance. What's going to happen is this dude is going to pull a Robert Jordan (aka dieing of fat) and either HBO will finish the series or his widow will farm it out. You've gotten your last 'George R.R. Martin' novel. Sorry.

  • @Spiresbeyond
    @Spiresbeyond 11 років тому

    Robert Jordan is the exception, not the rule.

  • @Spiresbeyond
    @Spiresbeyond 11 років тому

    you can't even look it up on wikipedia. You're correct on the dates for AGOT, ACOK, and ASOS. But you're actually just plain fucking wrong on AFFC and ADWD. AFFC was released in 2005, and ADWD in early summer of 2011. Therefore, as it is now January 2013, it has been less than two years.

  • @romanlegions
    @romanlegions 12 років тому

    @jurnag12 That, my dear, is a sign of a sociopath. Who knows? Maybe GRR wanted his protagonists to be Gregor Clegan or Vargo Hoat. But either way, he kills anyone with even a tiny shred of sentience anyway.

    I can't help but notice he doesn't mention Bran when talking about splitting his book geographically. I hope thats not a freudian slip that he's not going to be paying much attention to him.

  • @PaladinRS
    @PaladinRS 11 років тому

    The only thing wrong with your statement is you used the word 'probably'.

  • @PaladinRS
    @PaladinRS 11 років тому

    To stick with my anology, the 200 pages that are ON PAPER are pages cut from the last book. And the point remains the same. Winds of Winter is just not being completed. He will rotate a few chapters he cut from Dance for the next five years, and then most likely given his morbid obesity, die.
    I don't 'wish' for him to die. But Robert Jordan was far healthier than this guy, and 5 years his junior. Just being realistic.

  • @PaladinRS
    @PaladinRS 11 років тому

    So in almost 3 years you have gotten 2 chapters. Grats on that. LOL. Sorry man. You are kind of making my points for me now. :P

  • @PaladinRS
    @PaladinRS 12 років тому

    Have you taken a look at this dude lately? He has 200 written pages for Winds of Winter. Since he moved 200 pages from Dance of Dragons, this accounts for 100% of his SOIAF in the last two years. Dude isn't exactly living the lifestyle of someone who is going to reach an extreme old age. Just saying. At 200 pages a year, with 3000 pages of story to go... That's 15 years. I would advise you not to get your hopes up.

    You have obviously never seen this dude eat. Sadly, I have. At the San Diego Comic Con. And yes. I mention in another post that the 200 pages he has written are from Dance with Dragons. So basically, in the last year, he has written nothing. Honestly man. Do you really think this dude is going to live to 73? I see far healthier people die at 63 every day. If you are a fan, and don't realize GURM is wiping his ass with you, you have my pity.

  • @PaladinRS
    @PaladinRS 12 років тому

    Dude. I am sorry. A long time ago I had hopes for this series as well. But if you think you are going to see another George R.R. Martin written SOIAF book, you are just not being realistic.
    He has signed over all creative rights to the HBO team doing the Game of Thrones series. That's a fact. He has stated on his own blog that they have full creative control. There has been no status on Winds for two years now. On an upside. Brandon Sanderson is free now once this tub of lard dies. LOL

    Mr. Martin, you may have your own RED PRIEST but i don't!!

  • @Spiresbeyond
    @Spiresbeyond 12 років тому

    you're totally wrong. The last two books took so long because of the two rewrites. The 200 page prologue that was trashed, the original time jump that was planned, the original plan for six books. All that had to be sorted out. Winds Of Winter will be out far before 2020. My guess is 2013-2015.

    And apparently you can't even read. Dance with Dragons WAS the 4th book in the series (after Storm of Swords). He split the book in two parts and filled them with fluff (900+ pages of meaningless travel in DwD), I am sorry. But if you disregard the fluff, there is enough there for one book.
    Another important clue should be... Look at his updates on his website. There are none for WoW. I understand your knee jerk need as a fan boy to defend him. But George is laughing at you son. Sorry.

  • @PaladinRS
    @PaladinRS 12 років тому

    So what you are saying is.. You are pissed.
    Hey man. Don't blame me. I am not the one that makes him go on those all night Pizza binges. And it's probably something he has heard from his Physician.
    As far as talented. The first three books were some of the best fantasy fiction that has been written. But sadly, it's just degenerated into pretty much lesbian-girl on girl Domme/sub fiction. So again. Don't be mad at me. I am not the one that made either of you fat.
