When I hear this man speak, I can't help but feel so inspired. R.L Stine and the Goosebumps series were a huge influence on my childhood. I'm absolutely honored and very lucky to have been born in 1992, so that I was able to enjoy the books and the tv show when I was still really young. Man, the feeling of nostalgia is awesome.
IN ANOTHER INTERVIEW RL STINE SAID THAT HIS GOOSEBUMPS BOOKS TOOK OFF THROUGH KIDS' WORD OF MOUTH. HE IS RIGHT!! IN 1994 I WAS IN 4th GRADE AND A FRIEND OF MINE WAS READING A GB BOOK, HE LET ME BORROW ONE AND I WAS HOOKED!! EVERY MONTH I WAS AT WAL-MART TO BUY THE NEW GB BOOK!! DAMN I MISS THOSE DAYS!!! I LOVE U RL STINE, ALL THE WAY FROM TEXAS!!!
As a young teenager, I LOVED reading FEAR STREET & GOOSEBUMPS..."The Knife" & "Truth or Dare" were my favorites from FEAR STREET (as well as "The Cataluna Chronicles Trilogy.) whereas "Say Cheese and Die!", "How I Learned To Fly", & "Piano Lessons Can Be Murder" were my faves frim GOOSEBUMPS. I am now 34 & a ROBERT L. STINE FAN - FOR LIFE!!! THANK YOU, MR. STINE FROM A LONGTIME FAN IN MICHIGAN!!!
I remember reading Goosebumps as a kid. They were my favorite books. In fact I have crates full of them in storage. Lol. Since then I've moved up to Stephen King, but R.L. Stine got me into reading. I'll always be grateful for that. Thanks R.L. Stine!
This guy is a genius. I loved the Goosebumps tv series in 90's. Wish they would release every episode on DVD. I know they have some on DVD, but I want every episode :). Dang I miss the 90's.
I remember my older sister's VHS tapes of the TV show. I watched them as a toddler and for some odd reason I never got scared. Even as I got older and payed more attention to the stories, I still didn't get creeped out. And then I started reading the books.... and they were pretty much same as the TV show, but more fun as there were parts of the story that weren't in the TV show. I still consider those books to be the best. And the TV show was awesome too.
I remember being in the fourth grade and getting my first copy of Goosebumps Horrorland. I read it right away because earlier in that year my cousins and I became obsessed with the books. We created our own little Goosebumps club and I even dressed as Slappy for Halloween. I also watched the episode of The Haunted Mask on cartoon network with my grandpa and totally geeking out because I had read the book before.
i met this guy ! he used to live out here in southern california and his house was crazy! rooms that lead to no where and stuff!! i got to see it because my dad painted his whole house which was awkwardly right by the budweiser ranch!!
I've been having alot of nostalgia lately and remembered this guy and his books as well as the series. This guy I think was my biggest introduction to the horror genre and got me hooked on it along with his books as a kid. His Goosebumps were great fun and his Fear Street ones were actually pretty scary (I mean the saga ones). We need to have a movie series off of one of the books he made. The Goosebumps T.V. series was good but I'd like to see more for his other books too.
I have always loved his books. The first book I ever read was the goosebumps book about the mummy I read it when I was 7 and Im still reading them sometimes now! there really good :D
I used to love Goosebumps! First books I ever read, still brings up nostalgic thoughts looking at one of the book cover. All kids need a good scare to provoke the imagination!
There's a reason I go on /x/, Stine. There's a reason I took up the hobby of writing, and in the same vein, there is a percise reason why it is my passion. There's a reason I found H.P. Lovecraft, there's a reason that I read for fun, and there's a reason why I have an obsession with the paranormal. And it's all because of you, R.L. Stine. You are the reason I have grown to become what I am. Curse you and thank you, but I shall always respect your writing.
I remember when I was in elementary school, when we took trips to our little libary, I was always attracted to the scary side of the libary, and we always had to choose a book every week. My friends thought I was strange for reading R.L. Stine books (Goosebumps), they tried to read some of the books but they found them too scary. Now I read Stephen King's works. But I still remeber the good old days, more kids need to read Stine's books :D
You got me into reading in general with goosebumps, at one point i had a huge collection. I loved it came from under the sink. Gotta say the tv shows wernt as good but i will definitely be giving the books to my kids.
i think his goosebumps books are brilliant i have 36 books from original goosebumps 2 special edition goosebumps books ,10 books from series 200,5 give yourself goosebumps books ,1 -12 of the goosebumps horrorland series,1- 6 of his classic goosebumps reprints, read almost all his fear street books and i have got almost all his point horror books including the babysitter series. needless to say hes my fave author.
I had an incredible collection of his books! I was a big fan of The Fear Street books and the reason I started to read and grew up watching Goosebumps and reading the books as well and his funny ones. He needs to push some people in the entertainment business to do a show on the Fear Street books. It'd be incredible to see a show taking place in Shadyside. It'd be great to have kids of this generation watch something as great as Goosebumps, and Are you Afraid of the Dark? was
@UndertakerMistress x2 R.L. Stine is the reason i read today, i have read a ton of his books when i was younger (now 23) and still have alot of them. i am also into the king now and am currently reading his novel "Desperation", literally just put the book down to get on here for a min. lol oh and i recommend "desperation" if you haven't read it yet!!
r.l. stine, you are my favorite child author ever. you right a lot of good scary stories, and they are interesting. but i feel like Goosebumps are ok and very interesting, but my heart will always belong to fear street.
i loved "the baby sitter" i am writing a story too. it's called "the shatter of horror" i want to be a multi talented author when i grow up. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!
goosebumps books (and some other books by R.L stine) are the only books i read. infact, Say Cheese and Die--Again! was the first chapter book i have ever read.
I'm not gonna lie, I was expecting a slower, deeper voice from this man. I am glad he is talkative. Horror writers always seem to be the most cheerful bunch.
I just finished reading "Halloween Night". It was AMAZING. I'm sad that it's over now. Oh, yeah, Im 15. ;) I love his writing. I'm trying to read a lot of his books before Halloween just for that extra thrill
@CarlieBethSix: Given their odd animosity, who else was practically expecting Carly & Steve to start dating if the stories had continued on through their high school/young adult years? XD But seriously, the Goosebumps & Fear Street books are brilliant, which makes the respective TV series for the former equally brilliant.
"Really scary & very funny", just like The Haunted Mansion & Terror of Terror from Disney, cheesy puns from John Kassier aka The Cryptkeeper, Goosebumps' own twist endings overall, etc. Funnily enough, Mr. Stine--for all his weirdness--wrote for 80s Nick puppet series, Eureeka's Castle.
I remember goosebumps. Scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. lol. Probably would still scare me. I used to love being scared though, now I don't really care for it. R.L. Stine is awesome though.
goosebumps and are you afraid of the dark. awesome childhood memories
thx for my childhood mr stine!
R.L Stine is my favorite writter ever!
he rules!
he gives Goosebumps!

I wish that I could write like him, he's defintiely talented and amazing!

I use to hate reading, but one day mum introduced me to Goosebumps and I couldn't get enough of the stories!
My love for reading starting with RL Stine books. He's amazing and I'm thankful for his books that kept me entertained while growing up.
R.L. Stine is my idol. I love his books. As a kid he was inspired by reading old EC Comics, something i do when i write my stories.
This guy is a genius. I loved the Goosebumps tv series in 90's. Wish they would release every episode on DVD. I know they have some on DVD, but I want every episode :). Dang I miss the 90's.

I used to love Goosebumps! First books I ever read, still brings up nostalgic thoughts looking at one of the book cover. All kids need a good scare to provoke the imagination!
