About a year ago a friend gave me three books. I remember barely anything about the first two, but months after reading it, I still have vivid mental images of, and can remember whole stretches from, Grisham's The Testament. This guy is a best seller for a reason.
I start reading the Pelican Brief, and I liked it, he's good and what I like is that you can't stop reading still the last page because there is always some kind of action.
Just finished The Partner. Oh what a twist in the ending! Love, love his writing style! I've consumed 18/28 of his books and have thoroughly enjoyed each one!
He seems like a very genuine and grounded person. I've always liked his books. As a sidenote, I love his accent. Southern American accents are my favourite.
The Appeal was EXCELLENT and eye-opening. I hope he writes more political books. Aside from that I love his books set in the South. I can't remember the name but the one where the guy was a young kid who bought a newspaper establishment in Mississippi is one of my favorites. Who knew you could buy and run your own candidates for judicial elections? Our govn't is corporate owned.
Grisham is a great legal thriller writer. I've read two books of his and I had bases to judge. He creates such flexible and rhetoric dialogue that it makes you turn the pages without a stopping till the book's over. He creates thrill in his stories and it's fun to read them. He's not the best writer, but there are so many out there that can't spin a yarn for shit. I'd say I wasn't sorry paying for the books I read of John Grisham.
One of the best of Grisham's books are the Firm and the Chamber they are awesome i am now reading the Partner i know it will be good becaue it is a John Grisham
@Angelus11280 Yup, "The Chamber" was adapted into a movie in 1996. Starring Chris O'Donnel, and Gene Hackman. "The Client", "The Pelican Brief", "Runaway Jury", "The Rainmaker", "A Time to Kill", "The Firm", (Gene Hackman was in 'The Firm', and 'Runaway Jury' as well, heh) Those books were all adapted into Films and on top of that, they made a TV Series based on "A Painted House" (starring Scott Glenn)
John Grisham and James Patterson should write a book together! I think it would be something like a Murder-Mystery mixed with a Legal Thriller! How wonder it would turn out?
Grisham went to Italy to write "The Broker."It'd be hard to write an entire novel in a setting you've never been to, 'cause you'd only have other people's experience to base your description of the setting off of.Being that you haven't read much Grisham, I sort of get it though. If you read a lot of his novels, he's obviously from the South, 'cause you can't write that many good books about a place you don't live in.Like, I don't think he could write 10 books about Italy just from 1 trip there.
None of that explains why it's disappointing that he has a southern accent. Are you disappointed that he doesn't fit your negative view of the South? If you knew a little bit more about southern accents you'd know that his is one that's considered to be "refined." Most writers (except space and fantasy fiction) do write about stories that take place in a region or setting they're familiar with. It's hard to describe a place you've never been to, even with the internet.
Hmm ... let's think about. Who are YOU? What do YOU love and hate? What are YOUR dreaming about? That's most important. Now, create a character, that is involved by somethey, YOU hate and YOU love. You need to make it exciting. For example, there lives a wonderful woman next door to a poor guy. He's secretly in love with her, but doesn't dare to even talk to her. But he loves her so much, he MUST have her. So he sneaks into her bedroom one night and ... what happens? Anything can happen. He finds her murdered. Or he finds her with another guy. Or he finds her crying on her bed ... Anything. Maybe it was written once before by somebody, but YOU must give YOUR story YOUR personal touch. And that ist, what is new. Think of your neighbourhood. What could happen? A vamp moves into a house and mixes up the complete street. Or a drug dealer moves in. Now go, write YOUR story :-)
@allenpalmeri What does this have to do with anything? And what if he wasn't? Would he be less of a writer, a role model, a noble citizen? Why don't you ask him to write a Christian book to enlighten you? Geez.... religion really freaks me out. Plz, let people be who they are along with their great attributes.
He is the best!!! Thank you Mr.Grisham

To have a separate building for writing - that great. And that must be a model for every writer.

A Time to Kill remains my favourite by him.

The partner and theodore boone sequels ! Never read anything like it before !
Yeah! I think that one was "The Last Juror." It was so good.
My dad loves John Grisham. I haven't read him yet, does anyone have any good ones to suggest?

this is an impressive interview
My favorite 'so far' has to be ........ lol this is hard. The Partner? Ha, I don't know.
There is a subtitled version of this video?
The Firm, The Pelican Brief, The King of Torts
John will be appearing tomorrow on The Today Show.
The street lawyer should be a book for all law students or community study students. I still teach some of this today
@surfing1993 im just about to finish that one, its pretty fucking awsome.
i had no idea he had a southern accent. i always thought john grisham was a new englander
@mochafudgetruffle If people go to law school because of a fictional book, I have major doubts about their future careers to begin with
@Craig78910 same here! I was 15 when I first started reading his books, and I had never been interested in reading anything before.
@surfing1993
I read that one in 2002! I thought it was pretty good.
@RichMaxwell
There is a movie?!?!?!? :-P
I'm on my 11th book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed!!!

I enjoyed the -Street Lawyer
Why? You have very little perception if you didn't think a writer whose books mostly take place in the south would be from the south himself.
dennis hopper young version
第一次在youtube上留言,准备看他的A Time to Kill
I go 2 grisham middle school
so far, The Broker!
U Pwn!
I would like to write but everything has already been written about.

please forgive me
@Craig78910 'The Sphere' is a gripping thriller. Don't bother with the movie!
@Angelus11280 The book is much better than the movie. Chris O'Donnel sucks, lol
the last juror suck's, the appeal it's much better.
DILF!
Its not by accident that he doesn't have blacks in his books as leaders etc

puts me to sleep.
