It's far too easy to criticize this video..... but it's actually very well done. I'm happy i watched it before hitting the keyboard with my thoughts. Good and informative, many angles covered and variables were cancelled out. Good job.
Jerry Shannon well said
I remember when I got some new all season tires just for the front. Boy did the rear end else slide out all the time. Went and replaced those.
A fair fare and complete test. No fake . Doesn't matter what car you drive . The front winter and rear all season tires was a great idea. I have winter tires and I can say without a doubt they make a difference in snow. There are more videos if you don't believe what you see but they get the same results. Winter Tires work.
All season tires? More like no season tires.
Regardless of car type, the message is clear. Snow tires will do better than all seasons in snowy conditions.
Great Video, nicely done.
I feel most comments here were posted without watching the whole video.
Very informative, thanks for posting!
this is great. thanks!
@cryo4o I think the point of using different cars is to show that it doesn't matter what car u have, the winter tyre is better.
AWESOME TEST!!!
Watch the video - they switch tires halfway to eliminate car differences. Results move with the switch, so it's not a matter of better/worse car.
Siping (and direction of sipes), silica content (to prevent compound freezing at lower temps), central tread area, microgrooving... All are factors.
some ppl comment without even watching the whole video...THEY SWITCHED TIRES ON THE CARS, and you would see that if you didn't start commenting after the first 15 seconds of the video...
not to mention that this is not a comparison test of 2 winter tires...they try to show the big difference between summer and winter tires performance
You can only call them all season tires if you live in an area where it does NOT snow AT ALL!
@RealJayJohno Where I Live it is Law on 4 winter tyres in snowy condition. Swedish winter kind of requires it....
Hate all seasons
Great review especially since the one I had a question about. Front studded: rear not.
The rear tires would slide out when turning
@cryo4o I think this video dose make some sense when the guy said swap the tyre each other.
They didn't have to. They swapped sets of tires between cars to prove that the winter tires are necessary. When each car had winter tires on, it performed better all around. While it would technically be more accurate with two of the same vehicle, it's not necessary.
Look closely. They brake at the same time. It only appears that the silver car braked later because the all season rubber is harder and will displace less snow due to the decreased contact patch. The tire with the softer rubber (winter) will displace more snow because more tire is touching.
@wlandaverde83 well they essentially did
@wlandaverde83 Maybe that's why they swapped the tyres from one car to another to show that it doesn't matter what car u have, the winter tyre is better?
We do have fwd, rwd and awd... just like in the US...
@dimos47ki7 Some think they need different or the same cars. Fine I saw a video here with 2 BMW's and the results were the same. They even drove on an ice rink , the snows were able to corner without spinning out , where as the car with all seasons just plowed through the corner. They did everything here to show it wasn't the cars . So people need to watch then comment. I have snow tires and I love them !!!
@RealJayJohno The car will not stop so good since most of the braking is applied at the front tires. And you're supposed to have the best tyresat the rear, even if you've got fwd, so you don't spin like in the video. I Live in Sweden so I know my winter driving(but not English ;)).
1:05 the red car clearly brakes before the silver
@wlandaverde83 How about you watch for more than 30 seconds until they switch the tyres?
So fwd sells more in Canada and they just roll on winter tires , so really no reason to buy a awd or 4 wd
I can't believe those
if only Purchasing 2 of them, it is Mandatory to be installed on the rear , you can switch them at home if want lol... but that would not be smart.
even so , in case you do , then to help your self , you would have to hit the pedal slightly in order to help avoiding losing control of the vehicle
Yeah.....it's the siping that makes the difference.
red car had more momentum ... but the tires do effect the end result
look at the first brake test. the red car is in a lane that has a lot more ice. the silver car would slide just as far in that lane.
@wlandaverde83 If they have to do that, you've missed the point
It's just siping on the tread of the "winter tires" that makes the difference.
is it just me or is the right lane covered with less snow and has more ice exposure? thanks for an example of how to poorly test and the opportunity to point out such.
it is way more icy where the the red car tries to stop.
how about u test 2 of the same car
what about the weight differences between the cars
Anyone who says they need to test with the same car only watched the first 30 seconds of the video.
so put winter tires at the rear and leave wtv tires in the ront, show the test again.. .
Both cars have different tires both times
Aaron Wiley Because they have different size wheels. This is a winter vs. non-winter comparison.
That first test i think is bogus. The weight differences as going to make them slide or stop further/ closer so therefore doesnt qualifie as a real true test.
Jacob W and thats why theres the 2nd test with the same vehicles but switching the tyres
Braking fail test. On one track is snow better traction and on the second is ice and cars always lose there
Could they pick 2 more mismatched cars?
it doesn't matter cause they traded tires anyways halfway through
Ezzel a tesztel kizárólag az a probléma,hogy az elméletileg nyári gumival szerelt autó,a jégen fékezve próbál megállni.
Akkor is amikor át cserélik a gumikat.
I still occasionally see people mounting only 2 winter tires on the drive wheels. Insanity.
Try using the same car next time?
블랙
who woulda thought, the lighter car did better 0.0 im shocked!!
Julian A. Stavnesvik its a demonstration, No smart person would drive that fast in the snow if there was any traffic oncoming, be realistic.
+CYNiCAL2009 yes there is, dumb ass people going lost control heading towards you... to avoid them you need to have good tire.
Why dont test a tank and minicooper or smart. This test is stupid when different cars are used.
Two different cars, apples and oranges.
Only if they swapped tyres.... Ohh, what's that, they did? Watch the video through this time.
odgie991 😂 slaayed
Tires. Not car. Critics need to get it right...
the red cars suspension is horrible.
You guys got some poor winter tires. None of the cars managed to drive safely through that corner, and would hit any oncoming traffic dead on.
Julian A. Stavnesvik that's what happens when you have pizza cutters for tires.
@cryo4o Maybe just look through the whole video before you scribble nonsense.
THIS IS BS SHOU
LD HAVE USED THE SAME CAR!
The two DIFFERENT cars are comparing.....nothing the same.....horrible "test"
Brodey Dover Except they switched off tires on both, which means you see a winter on/winter off comparison for both cars.
Watch all the video next time.
The people who disliked have mud tires
use an EVO and see what Happens
BOGUS !!!
Cars today have ABS, traction control thus you only need 2 snow tires ,unless a awd .....
With ABS you stop really good on snow/ice.
Even if you start to go sideways, you counter steer to keep it straight, unless you are a complete idiot then you shouldn't be driving at all !
As for turning, stopping go slower and drive to your ability...
I drove old 60's cars on snow with no snow tires and didn't go out of control and drove faster than anyone else.. Again your own personal driving ability..
You need 4 snow tires
So you are Saying that when your rear is sliding when u hit the brake you dont stop the brake and hit gass to get your self out of ??????
Fake
nope, winter tires at the rear only always, lol fail government conspiracies again trying to get more money.
