Listen to Billy Joel: billyjoel.lnk.to/listenYD
Shortly after Billy Joel earned his first U.K. Top 40 hit with “Just The Way You Are,” he and his band travelled to England for an electrifying performance recorded for the hit BBC series The Old Grey Whistle Test. Ahead of his first headlining show in the country, Billy performed all the hits from The Stranger plus additional classics from his repertoire.

Lyrics:
You got to open your eyes in the morning
Nine o'clock comin' with out any warnin'
And you gotta get ready to go
You say you went out late last evenin'
Did a lot of drinkin'
Come home stinkin'
And you went and fell asleep on the floor
And then your lady comes and finds you asleepin'
Starts in to weepin' 'bout the hours you been keepin'
And you better get your ass out the door
Ain't no crime
Say everybody gets that way some time
Ain't no crime
You know it's good to get it on to get a load off your mind
Oh no, it ain't no crime. Oh.
You got to open your eyes in the morning
Nine o'clock comin' with out any warnin'
And you gotta get ready to go
Well now you tell me you love somebody
And you'll love 'em forever
You may love 'em forever
But you won't like 'em all of the time
Well now you tell me you need somebody for the rest of your life
You might have somebody
But you won't want 'em everyday
Ain't no crime
Say ev'rybody gets that way some time
Ain't no crime
Well it's just human nature
Happens all the time
Oh no, it ain't no crime. Oh
And just as surely as the wind keeps blowin'
The grass keeps growin'
You gotta keep goin'
And the Lord have mercy on your soul
La, la la la.

I love how the organist looks surprised and exited when he hits the opening, like they weren't going to play this one
I've seen this performance like 800 times and never noticed that hahahaha!!!
Richie Cannata
I had to go back to the beginning of the video to see this. His reaction was so CUTE!
Amazing musician and lyricist. I've had the pleasure of attending a few of his concerts. I wish he toured more out of NY but it's understandable that he's choosing to slow down a bit and be closer to home. Times like this I wish I still lived in L.I. Rock on Billy.... and Mark too ;l
tropicgal55 yea he’s incredible. I’ve been to four of his shows and I can’t wait to go to more
my first concert was Billy Joel. I was fifteen or sixteen. My mom was friends with the bass player's sister and she got free tickets. Mom sat in the front with her friends, and I sat in the balcony with my friends.
It’s been an absolute pleasure seeing this gig uploaded song-by-song
Yes indeed and in good quality!
he’s is beyond talented and so adorable oh my god
Liverty Devitto is one of the most underrated drummers of all time.
god i love this performance, i keep going back to it over and over again
I remember hearing my neighbor Liberty practicing on the drums....😀
Is this true?
Is this true???
is this true????
if this is true that is awesome
Yeah true.
This and Weekend Song should've become staples.
One of his most underrated rock 'n' roll tunes! :-)
the studio version of this one sucks, the live is incredible, this should have been a songs in the attic song
This is like primordial classic rock n roll
Oh, hey, you’re here too ha ha!
100%
Wow! Live... his voice is incredible, as always.
GOSPEL PIANO BILLY GOT IT.. HE CAN DO ANYTHING THIS GENIUS MAN
Richie Cannata unquestionably his best sax player
How do you quantify that ?

Listen to the sax solo from this same show when he does "New York State of Mind". In my opinion, his riff goes off into attention seeking drama rather than supporting the song while enjoying his moment in the spot light. Mark Rivera doesn't do that when he joins the band. He plays with confidence without showboating. I don't know if that's why Billy Joel made a change, but I do notice a difference in style and demeanor. I know that this original band has loyalists that defend them with the fury of a thousand suns, but ... Sometime change is a good idea.

You were incredible in concert
Better then original recording!
Love that Joe Cocker at the beginning. ..(You are So...)
Oh, Billie... you *still* make me swoon... great musician... awesome man!
Liberty DeVitto's prime in my opinion. Or this is just my favorite year for Liberty... Nonetheless, he was sharp, well coordinated, and was skillful. The drummer of 1978!
The band doesn't sound the same without him, IMO.
I could not agree more! That man is the pure heart and soul!
This one and Worse Comes to Worst are my two faves on the Piano Man album; would have been a great single.
Amazing peforrmer , God bless you Billy Joel!
Something about the way he sings "out" like "owuuut" it's awesome.
This is one of my least favourites of his studio cuts, but this live version is incredible! I'm glad it got the Songs In The Attic treatment here, if not on the real album.
Same, well outside my list of faves, but this version is a banger.
Undying fire🔥
Billy Joel great singer xx
Saludos de México el mejor musico
I've been trying to find the song, and I finally did!
Unbelievable
No.1 song❗
That Joe Cocker impression at the beginnin' it's great. If i'm not wrong there are two songs left from this show. Miami 2017 and Movin' Out. Please, upload the Anthony's song. It's my favorite live version of it.
Freddie Del Valle Hey good news, I think they uploaded both of those earlier
You're great!!
Gênio!!!❤

歌にパワーがあるって例えがぴったり
エグザイルとかパワーねーんだよな、心にガツンと響かねえ
ビリー・ジョエルと比べちゃうのは、エグザイルも可哀想では?w
I thought my playback speed was at 1.5 but it’s just normal haha

What year was this?
This song fucks
🍙✌️😊
This song is awesome but I actually wanna know what he was gonna do in the first 10 seconds.
You are so beautiful by Joe Cocker.
Lib's beating the living fuck outta that drumkit.
Very similar to Elton John's Take Me to the Pilot.
6th nice
The verse is so similar to the chorus of Take Me to the Pilot...It's not identical...but I wonder if Billy was like...wanting to groove like that and took a little inspiration
Am i first
Nice
That's way too fast. Someone snorted some magical pulver before the show it seems. Still love music and artist
This is in keeping with "Travelling prayer" and "root beer rag". He had a series of songs in this early time frame that featured very rapid keyboard stuff.

BiLLY .
Is that just an actor???
How does this song sound so trash in comparison on the record but when it's done live it SLAMS ?? Weekend Song too??
I think “Ain’t No Crime” sounds fine on the album.
I think the recording is good, but this is outstanding.
