I was always fascinated by the Rakata. I wish there were more games to explore the lore behind them and perhaps other ancient species that were influenced by them.
I actually discovered what caused the mutation in the plague that robbed them of their force sensitivity by scouring the archives. It was a device know only by one name, "Anti Plot Armor".
I figured it was the force reacting to them- they delved so deeply into the dark that they became sort of a wound in the force so the force rejected them.
The pre-republic era is just full of random weird fuckery. That fuckery sometimes manifests with a brutal empire. Granted, the Rakata did make some amazing things. But my my, what a fascinating empire.
I actually consider The Rakata and their Infinite Empire as a prototype too The Sith and their love of Empire as we know them today, as in The Rakata laid the ground-work and stereotype later Sith will follow for the rest of history.
This made me think of a fun fan story that could be made from a deciple of Kreya, one who also hates the idea of the Force schackling all of the universe to its unknowable will to kill thousands for some sake of balance. They find the fall of the Rakata facenating on how a virus stripped them of the Force, and then searches for a way to mutate it further to affect all species
I never played KOTOR, but I was in love with SWTOR when I was playing it in it's early days. They had these guys also, but they were already all dead. . . I want to go back to that game now that there's so much more
Your extensive coverage of the original EU, in the reverence in which you do so, is filling a niche the Star Wars community needs so bad. Thank you for your channel.
True, it seems like the Rakata were a force to be reckoned with however, over time they became arrogant and before they realized it the Rakata had bit off more than they could chew.
I don't think the Rakata ever defeated the Celestials, I think they ascended and became one with The Force. Like how it is theorized in the Darth Plagueis Novel.
Imagine if Palpatine, a sith lord known to have so much disdain for lightsabers as the jedi's famed weapons, only realized that the oldest version of the same type of weapon seen in the galaxy was actually designed to be used only by pure dark side wielders I'm sure they'll just retcon it and try to pretend that he knew all along despite there being literal years of consistent history of him hating lightsabers
The Celestials taught the Kwa to lift them up and the Kwa taught the Rakata to lift them up and was "rewarded by betrayal by the Rakata, too late they realised they had lifted up an abomination. The Kwa eventually simply by their own choice reverted to a state of primitivism and destroyed their gates (Basically stargates)... The Rakata caused such disharmony within the Force that perhaps it was the Celestials that cut them from the Force?!? The Celestials themselves according to rumour simply evolved so hard they ascended into the Force itself and maybe became the "Will" of the Force. I saw a video somewhere that the First Republic was basically a monarchy. And it was the Zhell ("Human") that founded it. Summary: YES The Rakata was the one true threat to not just the galaxy in general but speciffically the Force itself through their technology.
The comics told us what happened to the Celestials. All but a few died out after they went into hiding. They transformed into a subspecies of what they once were on the planet Dathomir after crashing there.
I think it would be interesting to see a resurgence in the Rakata much like the sith. The hubris in the idea that the sith were gone was what led to the downfall of the Jedi so I think it's be pretty interesting to see this hubris cause great ail to both sides. Be a pretty good idea with a number of titles to toss around for movies....we'll.....revenge and rise has already been used...ummm...oh wait I used a word earlier lol something like "Resurgence of the infinite" and you have a new movie series depicting the fallout and how they regained connection with the force and how it's driven both the sith and Jedi to near extinc6amd how their dogmas and pettiness stand in the way of any form of rebellion.
The rakata aren't the antagonists of kotor, their star forge serves a main role to the plot, you visit their homeworld and primitive rakata remnants before entering the star forge (wich orbits the world) to confront the actual antagonist.
They were a devastating force of evil cannibals in their time but that's the point, IN THEIR TIME. They are tens of thousands of years extinct or virtually extinct and all their deeds (brutal as they were) happened so long ago.
I always thought being so critical to setting the stage to create both the Disney and EU Star Wars franchise as we know it we should have a big series, complete with spin offs in movies/games an shows FROM THIS ANCIENT, ancient period in SW lore an mythology when basically EVERYTHING we know we'll either doesn't exist yet or is in it's barely recognizable earliest proto stages. Think it's be something to see. Though just don't think most the entertainment industry as it currently is can be trusted with making a truly great franchise based on all this as the Star Wars well before even the events of even the earliest KOTOR games, books an comics.
Disney did have a lot potiental to make a great star wars story with the abundance of EU/Legends content. Unfortunately all we got was another half-baked "empire vs Rebels" original trilogy rip off story.
@@ryanoconnor5176 which typically is an has been mostly either mediocre or even strait rip off of what now is their own original work... Didn't think such a thing was possible an then Disney decided a shitty sequel trilogy was in order
This was a very awesome and insightful video as I have been playing SWTOR and was curious Rakata race. I have not played the KOTOR games yet, but now I would like to give them a try.
The true greatest enemy is The Force. Its two sides keep playing a never ending game of chess while untold amounts die. Its will is also against the very idea of free will.

the most fearsome enemy’s are the ones that win or almost win.you want too be the best your going to have to beat the best or in some cases the worst in order to get there.funny that even Star Wars has Darwinism in a way.
I am wondering, what was difference between Sith and infinite empire and why one side was striped of right to use force and other was ok, maybe even favored. I have two theories about it. First is how Accident Sith saw dark side. They believe in teaching of dark side, that fight, passion and conquest is rright way of life. They believe in hierarchy of strong and were even able to enslave members of their own race, if they are weak, because they are shame for dark side. And accident dark Jedi were able to become their rulers pretty easily because of their strength. Not sure about infinite empire, but they could be seeing force as unthinking natural force (just like Plagueis, force decided to eliminate both of them. Different ways, but that could have reasons, like Plagueis being immune to virus or it simply being overkill) Other reason is their technology. They have many things force powered, so maybe they were simply talking too much power and giving too little back. While their colonization help with populating galaxy and grow of force, they did meet with resistance that stop this process. And plague that cut their numbers make them even smaller sources, so force simply cut them off. Light sabers or star forge probably didn't matter, but if their focused their technology about force (taken into account, that they could find only planet with strong force), them they definitely went overboard and forgot, that force IS life force with soul and that force ISN'T infinite, just nearly infinite.
Hey can anyone answer this for me if one of you UA-camrs gives away or does a PlayStation 5 giveaway all the person that wins has to pay for shipping and handling and if that's true do you pay for it with gift cards ???

Apparently it was potent enough that it can work on multiple protagonists in one movie/series episode
I figured it was the force reacting to them- they delved so deeply into the dark that they became sort of a wound in the force so the force rejected them.
OR perhaps it was the Celestials that did it as the Rakata was tearing up the very essence of the Force itself?!
I always found the Rakatans intriguing in KOTOR and wondered about their connection (if any) to the Selkath. Great content man. Keep up the good work.

@R Paulson lol wtf kind of comment is that
@R Paulson clearly idiotic and void of any relevance, yes.
How would they manage to become one with the force? I thought only light side users were able to successfully do that
Great videos bro
Infinite Empire vs the Vong. Both at their apex. Who wins?
The fans
@@wolfmeadows truth that Disney won't let you hear.
Vong since the force doesn't affect them as much whereas the Rakata we're inextricably linked with the force

Vong. Planet sized ships and Rakata arrogance.
It would have been cool to see the sequel trilogy test Luke Skywalker's Jedi Order with a resurrected Rakatan insurgency.
Did you say EAT the resident species 😳

NNNNNNOOOOOOO
You should do a what if story on the yuzhan vong invading in the time of the infinite empire
The Rakata should've had an appearance in the Clone Wars series. It would be cool to see them in Tales of the Jedi.
Nah David filoni doesn't have the writing skills to do justice to the rakata and he will turn them into childish jokes
Tell me more about the "unknown regions of splace". I have never heard of that region, "splace".
Was there any Rakata jedi? or je'daii?
KotOR
The Rakatan Infinite Empire was the Sith Empire before the several Sith Empires.
Heck Yeah!
They were name dropped in Andor, thought that was interesting.
The Rakata needs to be canon, and also have a movie trilogy about them
The Rakata are too hardcore for Disney.
I agree, they would totally mess it up
Disney will destroy the lore and turn them into childish joke
The only way the would work is if it’s rated r they are pretty savage and Disney is savage but they are crap at what we want
Well, Rakatans are in the new canon now if Andor is anything to go by, they're mentioned by name.
Rakata look like the nerdy kid who always get's beat up
Eyes located at the end of a limb reminds me of the hammer heads, as the sharks of the sea, they will eat us all. Then come back for more.
I wonder what would a war between the infinite empire and the The invaders from another galaxy in Star Wars also known as the use on Vaughn

Seems to be some pretty close parallels to the story of the Vong...
I think they could have been the true enemies of the Jedi, IF they hadnt lost the ability to touch the Force
Just like Revan said the force long existed before jedi and sith divided into light or dark
It's the Rakatan Empire's fault that the Sith are corrupted by the Darkside.
The rakatas are better written than Dave filoni nightsisters
