Boston Crowd Sings National Anthem, First Post-Marathon Bombing Sporting Event

- First big sporting event after the Boston Marathon bombing.
EDIT Feb. 2020: I am deleting political comments. This is not about politics. It's about patriotism and community. Go somewhere else to post your partisan crap...on ANY side.
EDIT Oct. 2021: I just deleted a boatload of political comments (hadn't been here in a while). Most of them were railing on "liberals" who "hate this country" (a few were anti-Trump/conservatives, but those were deleted, too). This will surprise some but I (the guy who shared this video) am a proud, patriotic LIBERAL. You know what else I am? A veteran, the brother of a veteran, and the son of a career military father. Conservatives don't own patriotism. One of the biggest problems in this country today is how we demonize the other side. We should be able to disagree, even argue and get angry, without questioning the patriotism of others.
The national anthem is about patriotism, not politics. Let's set aside the partisan rancor. - Спорт
Props to the singer for putting down the mic

renne defines class
To be fair, dude made bank for doing fuck all.
@@Chzydawg Exactly, singers must love when the crowd takes over
@@joshsings4 He is making sure everyone is keeping the tempo, syncing the audience so they all sing on time
I think the crowd should sing the national anthem at every sporting event. It gives so much more feeling to it.
well it makes moments like this even more special
Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. I'm sure it gives the players a real psychological edge too!
Actually, not every sporting events to me, Steven C.
yeah
Steven C I AGREE
I miss this America.
Still is this way. All the bad is just under a microscope right now and nothing decent gets the attention
@@UnderMyBrim thank you.
Thank a democrat for ruining that
@@mason1 You dont know what inciting mean if you think he did lmao
@@mason1 WRONG. Please show us the whole speech and get to us. "Peacefully and patriotically" were his words. Not storm the capitol
anyone else got chills when they heard this?
everytime!
Everytime I hear a crowd sing.
Tear jerking
Who wouldn’t
RESPEKMYNAME it’s the same feeling I got from watching the French people sing as the Note-Dame was burning
About time Americans SING their anthem. It is a nice anthem. Well done Boston.
We don't do it enough, unfortunately.
+putbye1 but when we do... :D IT MAKES ME VERY PROUD
No, every sporting event we watch someone sing it, while we show respect through silence and the placement of our right hand on our heart.
@@tristanmoller9498 yeah but that only in the US in other countries the people sing it
@@tristanmoller9498 You can't let a good thing be can you.
I'm from Spain, and i've been crying after watching this. Our anthem doesn't even have lyrics, it's just instrumental. Love you Americans, love you America
We love you too. Love from Texas.
and we love you.
Love You Too!
Us Americans love you too.
Hey, I feel the emotions when Americans sing the "Star Spangled Banner". I'm no American but I love guys. My Philippines, who used to be an American territory, has been a partner for a long time. God bless the Philippines and the United States of America.
You Americans ought to sing your anthem more often, because that was pretty special!
Love to all our American cousins from ol' Blighty!
Its actually to the tune of a British drinking song, so y'all have some credit for it.
+TØP //Pvris// I'll drink to that ;) 🍻
Earð-Stapa 530 If Montreal was there they would boo us...
At least you guys would stand up and applaud the Canadian anthem. Don't mind Montreal, they're always like that.
TBH it's sad bc it's used almost too often like every single sporting event ever. Don't get me wrong this is amazing but I'd rather see it used less and on more important events
We need this America back. The national anthem stands for all races
Hell yeah
Amen. And all races should stand for the National Anthem.
You're like a naive girlfriend. Just because that's how you want it to be doesn't meant that's how it is.
@@christopherjuengling8989 They know, they were just saying that's how they want it to be and I agree. They were just sayin they wish it was like that
@@robinsonnobles6246 yeah you're probably right. Didn't mean to take it the wrong way. But I agree, I just want everyone to stand together again.
Is it weird if I cried even if I'm not American... so fucking beautiful
knowing what the song itself means makes it 20x better.
+OneMileyCyrusFanVlog Me TOOOO
+OneMileyCyrusFanVlog everybody is a potential American ;)
+OneMileyCyrusFanVlog even trump supporters don't oppose anyone. Trust me.
you cry for freedom..it doesnt matter where u from..
The intensity when "because our flag was still there" rolls around was awesome, we may be one big dysfunctional family, but man you mess with one of us, you mess with all of us!!
"All gave some;
Some gave All"
I’m just imagining the lyrics with the word “because” and it’s actually hilarious.
Singing “because our flag” instead of “that our flag” takes all the grandeur out of that moment in the anthem for some reason, and it’s cracking me up.
A lot of countries are forgetting that and are trying to poke the sleeping bear.
Best National Anthem ever. I hate how singers get on stage and add thier own silly twist to it. Keep country, hip hop, pop and all other music genres out of it and sing it properly the way the people of Boston just did. God Bless America.
@fergie
I also enjoy having a crowd sing it more than watching a soloist perform, but if a soloist performs it, their interpretation can still be very moving. Almost as moving as this
ever heard of Josè Feliciano?
Esteban Campos But José F.’s rendition is good it can stay
Yes
this is how our anthem was meant to be sung, not a small choir, not one person, but a nation a people and a country
That's Boston, That's america. I'm truly lucky to be allowed to call myself american. god bless the united states!
Dorian Payne do a dna test I’m 99% sure you don’t have American blood, sorry not sorry
@@saraeriksson6525 Did your parents love you?
Sara Eriksson What?
I’m so confused what your point is
“American blood” isn’t a thing because American isn’t an ethnicity.
When I get my citizenship, I am an an America, regardless of my DNA
Dorian Payne god bless The men in in uniform who defend women and children and stand up to for their country while others Neil.
@@saraeriksson6525 lmao there is no American blood. American is a feeling
I love this. No democrat, no Republican, no black, no white. Just one nation uniting together.
Amazing, you can still here the accent.
Emo Supremo dude you Boston people have the most amazing accents from Arizona btw
Im crying 😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Observant213 same here brotha, not Boston technically. Maybe about 25 min south of Boston (with no traffic) is where I reside. Good ol’ Brockton lol 😂. I don’t have the heaviest Boston accent. But I def have it. Realized it when I was working for a moving company and had to travel out of state. Apparently we talk faster than most folks. The lady we were moving was obsessed with it, she literally told me to keep talking.
I heard the word. "Stahhs"
It's so weird. I've lived my entire 60 years on the South Shore of Massachusetts & my accent is so thick, yet neither of my 2 daughters (born approximately 11 years apart), who have always lived with me, have it. I speak the perfect example of a Boston accent (cah; gahden; stahs; pahk) but they don't.
something about so many voices singing in sync gives a quality and power that no one person can match.
e pluribus unum, happy 4th
Armies have been doing it for centuries...still very fitting though.
E pluribus unum. "Out of many - one." Lends a special meaning here, doesn't it?
In God we Trust

happy 4th
Remember when we all loved each other this much
This is still out there. It's just harder to find. But it's still there.
Underrated comment
Yea cause it was actually a nation with an identity, core values. As time goes on it is becoming more and more of whoever from wherever, that can’t create a nation
Brought a tear to my eye, such patriotism. Much love from Canada :)
Thanks our fellow brother, Canada.
why are Canadians so nice?
Love right back at you from Boston!
No. I’m Canadian and I appreciate this >:)
As much as we like to tease you, we couldn’t ask for better neighbors. We truly love our Canadian brothers and sister.
Even as a Canadian I find this touching and gives me chills
Best neighbors ever, we love y’all❤️
I’m not very patriotic, I admit, but a scene like this could bring anybody to tears.
youre confusing patriotism with something else then.
You should be more patriotic then. My father, uncle, and brother all died in Iraq defending this country, so ya. Your probably a city person who dosnt care about what people go through to keep you safe

It’s 2021. I come back and watch this video every now and then. I’m a grown ass man and it brings tears to my eyes thinking about how divided we are right now. We seem to forget that we’re on the same team. Love each other. Respect each other.

I’m British and I’m wondering why this doesn’t happen at all American sporting events because even as a Brit I’m willing to admit that this is pretty awesome
Almost brought me to tears, I wish we could have this kind of unity and patriotism more often. Sadly people hate the country because of a few bad things in it or for no reason at all, they just think its cool to hate America
Lot of people hated having tens of thousands die in Vietnam needlessly

Its a shame it takes such tragedy for us to come together like this. This should be the norm
True, 9/11 was very similar in how amercians responded. I wish we could have that level of compassion and understanding without a terrible event being the cause.

This is how it’s meant to sung.
It’s not a pop performance, it’s an anthem.
I saw this on TV live and I had serious goosebumps. I have never been more proud of the city of Boston than after this.

I got chills. I was at this game. I was never so proud to be from Boston than in that moment.
Public Announcement:.................. Have all the fans sing the National Anthem............ They did since the beginning of the MLB Back in the 1800"s... till the early 1970's.......... Who care who sing the National Anthem through a microphone........ Let the fans all sing it together........... GOD BLESS AMERICA
God I love moments like this. We had the crowd at one of my high school's basketball games sing the national anthem together and it was so fun to be a part of. It wasn't planned or anything either. They normally play it over a speaker, but there was technical issues and the guy trying to play it just started signing, causing almost everyone to join in. God bless America.
Never ceases to amaze me. Downloaded this audio a few months back and still get chills. Way to go Boston, and they are hockey fans. Damn patriots and I love ever bit.
Faith in humanity, restored
What’s makes me sad, is that this is the type of America I may never be able to witness. Where we cared more about our country and it’s betterment rather than letting the country fail as a consolation prize for a rival political party winning at anything. We are now so divided in extremes we want all the country to lose rather let the rival party win, when some choices on either side could help us as a whole. I am 21, this was 10 years ago and I am sad that I was too young to appreciate how great it used to be.
i come back to this video each year... so proud to be from this city. incredibly special... chills each time
