My, what we lost and we didn't even know it at the time! I grew up waiting for that one day a year "The Wizard of Oz" would be on TV. Judy Garland has always been my favorite female singer (Sinatra - male), and "Over The Rainbow" is downright sacred to me. I have never liked anyone but Judy singing it . . . until Eva. Her unique rendition and the emotion behind it is breathtaking, as are her gorgeous yet understated vocals. Knowing she was only months away from leaving us when she was recorded singing it only amplifies the emotions it elicits.
I fell hopelessly in love with Eva's voice after watching Eva perform Over the Rainbow. I set out to learn everything I could about this young angel. I love to listen to every song she did. Gone, but I will never forget her.

I've binge watched for hours at a time (usually through tears), videos of musical "experts" listening and reacting to her rendition of Over the Rainbow. Even those few who don't have a visceral, emotional reaction seem to be amazed by her skill. I'm not sure there's a word to describe what Eva did with that song, but it's as though hers was the version that it was always supposed to be.
There was justice served when Eva got famous now the next one is for to go down as rhe greatest female singer ever to me she is I have heard many and found none as sweet as Eva 😊
I first heard her on a very late night news type of tv program and I instantly knew that the goosebumps signaled how amazing her voice was. So special !

I've studied Eva Cassidy for almost four years as I admired her magic, and I've found that she was a Master Builder or a Master Re-Builder of songs. She usually took the foundational first verse and added various harmonies, pitch, and vocal volumes to achieve her masterpiece. She rarely, if ever, sung a songs' verse the same way, and you can always count on her building the song up technically with soft crescendos at first and a thundering crescendo towards the end, like she did in this one. Listen to the "money shot" from (2:15 - 3:00). Plus, her hand strumming/finger picking guitar skills were through the roof.

The sound quality is superb, it sounds like it was professionally recorded. I hope this will be released on 180g vinyl.
