US Passports that don't have the fancy polycarbonate page: the chip is located in the upper left of the back cover. It worked almost immediately when I opened the book up to the back cover and held that over the phone. Hope that helps some!!!

For Nigerians with their passport number starting with 'B' use a flashlight to search for your chip. It's usually at the back of your passport cover. For older passports, often times the chip isn't visible with a flashlight search. Just choose the option that says you don't have a chip while applying, saves you the headaches. 😅

This is exactly the same challenge am going through right now in scanning my nigerian passport chip. The message says "There was a problem reading the chip in your documents". I haven't been able to proceed with the linking of my e-visa yet🤦

There is a problem We could not update your identity document because the details you entered are already on our system. Start again and check you have entered your new details correctly. If there is still a problem, contact us for help. When i am try to add my passport Its shows like this what will be do??

I'm from the United States and finally got it to work by opening the passport and scanning the polycarbonate page (not the info side).
