    Once you've used a coal chimney, you'll throw out those cans of lighter fluid because you'll never need them ever agaun. A chimney is much easier to light than using lighter fluid, and as Adam notes you can use the cheaper charcoal.

    2 cotton balls put rubbing alcohol on them. Lights it every time and you won’t have that ash flying everywhere.

    May I recommend a napkin and olive oil. Works great every single time.

    I feel like you could just put some paper below that second grill, light it and then put the charcoal over that and have the same affect and have all your coal light up at the same time rather than just half

    Butcher paper with lard or tallow is how the pit masters in Texas start their pits, would be a good way to keep out the chemicals of your coals.

    Great video! I have the coal chimney and same bbq. My problem is coals die out quick! Bottom vent and top cover vent open but after 10 minutes, its lights out. Do you think its my coals? How long would the amount you just did last?

      Are you keeping your coals together or spreading them out when you dump them? If you spread them out, they lose heat quickly. Another consideration is the size of the coals. Lump charcoal can be inconsistent (with some of that due to being crushed in the bag). As such, I usually use briquettes, filling my chimney 3/4 of the way. When I light it, I go for 15-20 minutes. At this point, you should see flames from the top and little to no smoke. At this point, it's ready even if it hasn't completely ashed over. Pour it out and keep the coals together (charcoal baskets can help with this).

    Is there an air blower to burn coal or is it self-igniting?

    why not use briquettes

    • @noname-mu6kn
      @noname-mu6kn Рік тому +2

      Briquettes have chemicals in them. Lump charcoal is natural charcoal

    • @karlrovey
      @karlrovey 4 дні тому

      @@noname-mu6knThat depends on the briquettes. If you use Kingsford (avoiding the match-ready version), it will be fine.

    I will never understand why people who grill would EVER use gas or propane. I don't care if it's "convenient", using charcoal is the only way to grill. I finally got a large Forge charcoal grill after not being allowed to have one at the apartments we unfortunately had to live in. They only allowed their stupid gas grills and no charcoal. Unless you like shitty tasting meat, use your zero testosterone gas grills. So finally got this charcoal grill now that we have a house and I use it all the time. No question the meat tatses better than gas and firing up the chimney is the best part! I don't know, just my opinion, but charcoal grilling is for real men.
