@カモメcheegulls & @ Flarebomber compte YT might be an arsehole for the last part of his comment "and is not a hawk", lol, but he's actually on the right track with how to hold/handle a hawk. He's not suggesting to pull it by the legs, far from it, normally the way to handle a hawk in this sort of circumstance, is to clasp your hands around it's wings from the back and hold/pincer the legs at its' thighs, between your ring & middle fingers, thus immobilising the wings and reducing the risk of "getting nailed", oh and possibly rotating the bird through 90 degrees would've unstuck its' head. How this guy held the bird was actually quite wrong, as this could have snapped the birds neck because it was able to flap its' wings, those wing/pectoral muscles are damned powerful, but thankfully the hawk din't struggle until its' head was free and he was as firm but gentle enough as he was kind and brave, cos those talons can give you a bloody sore one !!! Having been nailed by an old hunting partner, a female Harris Hawk some years ago, I can vouch for that, and yes those talons can go through your hand, seeing a hallux(the big rear talon) going in one side of your hand and come out through the other is pretty cool, one handshake I will never forget lol ;o) peace guys, Paz(retired falconer)

Junglistic...actually, we don't know what all she did to help the bird...she did pull over, and perhaps she waved the man down. she could have ignored the situation and just kept driving. we do know she recorded the event and shared it. that in its self is a good deed because it role models compassion for animals.

On the other hand, we all can be smarta$$es now and judge what he is or not supposed to do. I do think too there probably was a reason why the hawk didn't fly off right away, but at once idk what I would do at that very moment. Maybe encouraging him to fly or start panicking hawk isn't flying.

Very intuitive that Bog Brother because I wondered if I should elaborate. Yes, you're right you can step out the door and a person who just derided you can minutes later display complete empathy for a creature they do not know the name of. Creatures like Hawks don't compete in their sphere do they? It's a contradiction of sorts but moreover a display of what's really desired within and that's connection I'd imagine. Nice one for raising the subject - have a good day or evening. Mark
I'm so happy they rescued that poor bird! I feel like they maybe should have also called a wild bird rescue too, though, since they didn't know if the bird had any injuries to it's face, neck, or jaw bones or if it was in pain.
Idk if you're being sarcastic or not... I'm no vet but it didn't seem like he was. The poor thing was just hit face first by a moving car, *while it was flying*, and within seconds of having it's face removed from the car grille he forces it to fly off whenever it very obviously was shook up. He should've allowed it to perch on something for a minute and let it take off whenever it felt ready instead of tossing it into the air. It's hard to come up with an equal analogy, but I doubt you're ready to go for a run immediately after getting hit in the face. It should've been watched for a little while until it took off on its own or taken to an exotic animal hospital with wildlife rehabilitators given it didn't
@Bob Kay You're going to say the opposite just because I said I'm not a genuine professional.. Smart.. He took a shook up, *likeky in shock and injured bird*, and *threw it into the air* even though it clearly wasn't ready to fly. It was so disoriented it even flew directly back out into the street. I know it makes sense for a doctor to force you to go for a sprint right after getting punched in the face and knocked out

@カモメcheegulls & @ Flarebomber
compte YT might be an arsehole for the last part of his comment "and is not a hawk", lol, but he's actually on the right track with how to hold/handle a hawk.
Having been nailed by an old hunting partner, a female Harris Hawk some years ago, I can vouch for that, and yes those talons can go through your hand, seeing a hallux(the big rear talon) going in one side of your hand and come out through the other is pretty cool, one handshake I will never forget lol ;o)

I'm glad the birdie is OK :3
Got lucky to hit it where he did. Getting stuck in the car probably saved his life. I think this hawk will stay above the tree line from now on :)
yes, he was lucky he hit where he did. It protected his neck and his head. if his head had hit a solid surface at the velocity the lady had said she was going, it probably would have broken his neck, even if he survived the head trauma.
Is it just me who thinks it was the car that hit the hawk, and not the other way around?

Humans are weird and paradoxical. We love to invent new ways to kill each other and mess things up but we still have bottomless hearts of compassion to help others.
It makes me smile really.
Mark
Wye Explorer Yep, the hawk wouldn't lift a finger to help you if you were stuck and that's not just because it doesn't have any.
Have any what bro?

The guy was really professional..
