Yeah u say that but Mamamoo were one of the most criticized groups ever, especially for the way they look, hwasa was called ugly many times as a Mamamoo member to her face and it was an understatement in the Korean industry, they stepped on that ofc, they grow to see how amazing they are and have own so many prizes till this day, this group is a walking statement of self love and improvement
One of the things to remember was when Mamamoo was in its first few years, their company RBW was very small and didn't have a lot of money. You tend to see rather simple mvs in terms of sets and costumes simply because they couldn't afford anything but that - so their creative team had to work hard to make interesting mvs.
I absolutely loved how you highlighted that, no matter how someone may seem perfect or flawless, everyone has their own concerns about themselves. It's a powerful reminder that we're all human.
The Korean idol standards were so damn brutal. I see it loosening some now but it is still there. And completely agree no matter how others perceive us it's how we perceive ourselves that really defines us.
Even their own company executives were telling them they weren't pretty, because they don't match that very specific Korean audience ideal (this is what is truly meant during any discussion of "visuals") so they darn well better concentrate on vocals! They were "old", by industry standards, in their 20's when they debuted. Kpop is almost like the Olympics, one could debut at 14 and be considered over the hill at 18!
Glad you have moved on from just obsessing over Hwasa. Not a criticism, who does not obsess over her but Mamamoo, is a four piece and each are as important as the other.
Roscoe!!! TAEMIN just put out his RIZZNESS MV! With proper English subtitles👏🏼. Question… if you are not a native speaker of the language… does it really go against “Reaction video” protocol to read the lyrics before you watch the video? Koreans instantly get the immediate understanding of the experience, as a whole, while they watch. I personally think it is ok, to have read the lyrics first, if that gives you a deeper understanding of what you are seeing as you react. Just a thought. 🥰😘💋
He does like to go in what you would call 'blind' first to see what his initial interpretation is. But a lot of times he will go back and read the lyrics for some songs to better understand.

Maybe even read the lyrics to your English speaking audience so we all learn along with you. Crazy thoughts along with my first coffee. ❤️🩹💪🏽💖
