      Similar to what you said about inventory, I find it annoying how hard it is to put on armor. That's 1 reason I sold many of my sets, to make it easier to navigate them. It'd be nice to be able to put on a whole set more quickly, especially w/ those useful set bonuses. I also wish we could see the power for the master sword to see how much damage we're doing, particularly after fusing it. That's maybe too nitpicky but it'd be nice to get a clearer picture with that

    I do wish Food and Materials were separated in the menu. You're only really using one set or the other at a time so you don't need access to them all at once. Granted fusing things to arrows necessitates them being together in that instance, although being able to select favorites would make that so much better.

    I think your problems with the battery loop were made worse by duping. Natural Zonaite gathering was pretty much in step with the refresh rate and my natural exploration finding the forges. Each time I found one, I had just about the right amount of Zonaite to buy out the shop without too much left over.
    Naturally, I probably had less battery power at any given point of progression, but I never felt like I didn’t have enough battery power to do what I wanted. It’s possible that your elevated battery power level also contributed to your feelings that some of the dungeons were not as challenging as you hoped.

    • @EricHerboso
      @EricHerboso Рік тому +3

      I strongly agree with this. The rate at which I improved my battery felt entirely appropriate using normal gameplay. I think the error they made was in thinking that having a huge battery was necessary early in the game - but in fact there are _tons_ of things to do in TotK, and there was no need for them to focus so entirely on the battery in the first few days of playing to the point where they took advantage of a glitch to cheat it out.

      yeah i agree 100%. every time I made a farming loop around the depths I would end up with about 600 charges, enough for 2 full batteries. only once or twice did i even have to nap or do anything to advance the clock to refresh the forge constructs shops but it didnt feel like a hassle at all only doing it a couple times. Especially since the more you explore the more constructs you find and the more shops you have to buy out at a time.

  • @brianmckinley4141
    @brianmckinley4141 Рік тому +4

    I'm actually fine with the battery loop. If you explore the depths you will find more than enough Zonaite from mines or enemies, or crystalized charges from bosses, the Yiga or mines again that you will have your batteries upgraded in no time. I'm in the bright blue section of my batteries and the upgrades, while satisfying to get, don't feel necessary anymore. It doesn't take long at all to get to a comfortable point with your batteries and you can always rely on large charges if you are undertaking a big build. I believe you can absolutely get by on a small amount of batteries.

    I’ve got 2 things I’d change:
    1) Dropping monster parts on the ground in order to fuse them to weapons feels so clunky. We already have a “destroy fused material” option in the menu, so why not replace that with “fuse material from inventory”?
    2) There’s one armor set (that I know of) which needs low-level/early game monster parts in order to enhance at the Great Fairies, and for the life of me I _cannot find those monsters late game_. There ought to be a way to farm low level monsters SOMEWHERE, or an NPC you can buy those bits from.

    I understand and can agree with a lot of these complaints/suggestions...
    but for 4:08, how often is someone really needing to change the HUD between Normal and Pro? I know for me, I had just set it once and then I never touched it again. The main controls of the game are already near the line into being too complicated, so trying to find a button combination to quick switch the HUD option would start to get too close to/over that line, I think. That being said, I think moving through the menus could be a bit faster (especially as you need to push down and release the L and R buttons to move over one tab at a time), so perhaps if this was improved, this would be less of an issue.

  • @ErikRedin
    @ErikRedin Рік тому +2

    I agree that the amount of zonaite it takes to ultimately get a single pip of battery is ridiculous but I disagree about the limited supply of crystals at the forges. I think that is almost exclusively a problem for people who were duping large zonaite. Large zonaite is pretty rare in the game, I don't think I've ever had more than 8 pieces in my inventory at once. So I've never bought out all the large crystals at a location and have only bought out all the small crystals once (and just barely so).

    1. Let me save qrmor combos. Mixing and matching armor/clothing can be important when you aren't able to max their defense attributes and want to travel various environments. When you have accumulated lots of armor pieces it can be hard to dig through them like when you need to swap Gerudo Voe garb items with warmer pieced, etc.
    2. I am tired of grinding for Lizalfos tails. They habve a 1-in-3 or 1-in-5 chance of dropping. Boo!
    3. Display the buff timer with the Pro HUD like they did in botw. I need to keep track of my buffs w/out pausing.

  • @Glockenspheal

    1.- I dunno if the battery loop is that frustraiting, I've just been cashing in my zonite and such at varying intervals (kinda similar as to how I cash-in my light orbs) and so far I haven't even reached half of the green batteries, yet, it feels enough for now to power any vehicle I need or want. Also, most sub-bosses in the Depths drop large quantities of pure energy crystals, so there's an incentive there, as well as skipping some of the loop. I feel that if you'd want to farm say, 9 battery cells all at once (3 full batteries) it would be frustraiting, but that applies to anything you want to farm in this game, you are better off getting these in a natural way just playing the game as a whole.
    2.- You can lock-in the map to north, that's my default option, UNLESS and this was really cool, if I'm in a sandstorm, using your compass during one can be a life-saver to make sure you are still going on the right direction, just wish it wasn't so tucked in in the options, but it's still fine, in that case I'd wish for the arrow showing link to still be there while in a sandstorm, to at least tell me which direction I'm facing.
    2.1.- That's honestly a good idea, pining a location on the map should show you the coordinates at least x and y coordinates.
    3.- Custom hud would be dope, but as same with custom control options, Nintendo is just too stubborn about those, still, I'd love that.
    4.- YES, let us favorite materials, let the quick material menu have tabs, or at least let me scroll faster using up/down.
    (As for why it sometimes re-shuffles or switches your meny selection, the game focuses on your most recent collected material.)
    5.- I have not much to comment for this, as I don't cook THAT much, as I also think overcooking takes some of the fun out of the game, but sure, it would also help when cooking several meat skewers for selling.
    On the things I'd want I just have one in mind right now and that is.
    INCREASE. THE. LIMIT. OF. AUTOBUILD. FAVORITES! I feel that 8 is not enough.

    The only thing that bothers me is the inconsistent range for grabbing items with ultra hand, I know I've grabbed items from maybe 20 of Link's feet away from him and then at times I can't reach something from like 5 of Link's feet away from him.

      from my experience, you can reach a lot farther horizontally than you can vertically. so if you’re trying to grab things at a diagonal away from you, if you get out of that vertical range it’ll in turn make your horizontal range feel shorter

    • @SinfulJon
      @SinfulJon Рік тому

      @@echowhosthis Yup, I just confirmed that a while ago after posting that.
      I used giant square blocks and stuck them together into a giant 4x4 block and I stood at the start of the giant block and you can 100% reach much further away horizontally than vertically.
      I couldn't even reach passed the 2nd block vertically vs being able to reach all the way to the 4 block horizontally, maybe even further, I didn't bother to push the limit
      (I will later tonight though).
      I'm not sure why they would design it like that, it's not a huge issue, but I do wish it was the same reach across the board.

    For 5:10, I absolutely agree! I personally think one solution would be to have sub-categories within that main Inventory menu: press X or something (or push down the left stick) to display a quick menu, from where you could select the type of item you're looking for (i.e. Monster parts, Raw food, Gems, Bugs, etc.), and it brings you to that section. A customizable Favorites section would be great too. (Inspiration for my idea comes from the Windows 10/11 Start menu. If you go to your list of all your apps, you can click on a letter header (i.e. where it says "A" and then lists all the apps starting with A), it'll bring you to a little grid where you can select a letter and quickly jump to that letter - i.e. clicking on "L" will bring you to all your apps starting with L).

    For item management, in the quick select screens for fusing arrows or selecting new equipment something that could also help dramatically is more than ONE line for items. It could just open up a larger window with multiple rows at once that you can select with the analog stick, instead of just moving right to left you can move up and down and you can go through it much faster.
    But for those who haven't played BOTW or haven't played it recently, TOTK actually has dramatically changed the inventory and menu systems in general. By comparison they improved many aspects of it, the fact that it still is overly complicated just kind of says how complicated and cumbersome it was in BOTW.
    With the battery I got enough Zonite from just naturally going through the depths but I do agree that the place where you buy the Crystalized Charges should be able to process them into battery there too.

    At the very least, sort by fuse attack power for fusing arrows should be completely different than sorting normally in the menu. Parts have different strength bonuses when used for arrows vs. weapons. Having a bunch of horns show up first when the fangs are stronger is not just bad UI, it's incorrect information for the task at hand.

    My biggest gripe with the game is a small one, and it's actually the script, at least in certain segments.
    At least in the English version, there's a lot of dialogue that copy/paste between the companions. In the events following a dungeon, the dialogue just feels awkward, and I don't think any reactions apart from Tulin, fit their personalities at all. I think even a small difference in how they interacted with the events following a dungeon would have made it feel a lot better for me, but it stood out like a sore thumb.

      What I'm quite disappointed about is just how little voice acting this game has compared to Age of Calamity. We didn't get to hear fully voiced dialogue for returning characters like Kohga and Hestu, despite the latter's VA (Cristina Vee) returning to play Tulin. Very weird to watch a cutscene where only one character is audibly speaking and the rest are default grunting.

Or let me choose an option to fuse from the menu? Why do i have to pull it up, drop it, and then fuse?

    The biggest QOL change I want is favorite outfits that I can quick swap between. It's so annoying having to quickly swap from Gliding Gear, to Stealth Clothes, to Combat Clothes in rapid succession. Let me set up 3-4 favorite outfits that I can quick swap between by holding down on the D-Pad as opposed to tapping for the horse whistle (which I never use because horses seem incredibly pointless in this game).
    The biggest thing I want to see an update to however is the player housing. Oh my god it's so bad. "Imagination is the limit" as long as it means that you only uses these very specific rooms that have to be used to connect your other rooms together because there's no way to adjust when or where walls appear, or change the positioning of furniture in those rooms, or position those rooms in a way where they aren't just a mess of blocks. I'd settle for being able to change the color from that ugly green. Having such a small room limit feels so arbitrary as well because you'll never be able to have one of each room, especially if you're like me where you want to prioritize having somewhere to store rare/one of a kind equipment. I'd rather just be given a big empty house and be allowed to move furniture around in it then whatever TotK's housing system currently is.

    One tweak I would love to make is getting Dragon parts. Understandably, they changed it so you couldn't just sit at a campfire and constantly farm dragon parts, but when you combine that with the armor upgrades that require more than 1 dragon part, you'll basically spend hours getting those EVEN IF you knew the flight paths of the dragons.
    The Light Dragon in particular is the worst, at least (spoilers)...
    ...after the Master Sword. Had I have known that she would be flying a full circumference around Hyrule, I wouldn't have gotten the sword until after I finished all my armor upgrades.

    • @ariwl1

      Agreed. Farming dragon parts is kinda needlessly busy work. Most enemies drop multiple parts at once so I don't see why dragons can't. And I wish the radar locator had a much bigger range for dragons as while it can locate them, it doesn't work until you're practically on top of them anyways.

As far as I can think of, any quality of life tweaks only appear in sequels (as has happened here in Tears of the Kingdom) or in re-releases (i.e. the "HD" releases of older Zelda games).

    The game is a masterpiece, but for the life of me I can't figure out why they still have you slipping down when it's raining in the exact same manner as BotW, even though that was one of the most vocal criticisms about that game. When I started TotK and saw that now there are anti-slip potions and gear I thought "OK, they kept the slipping, but now you can prepare and manage it just like you do with heat/cold/fire/whatever, that's cool", only to of course find out that YOU STILL SLIP EVEN WITH A HIGH-LEVEL POTION OR ALL THE GEAR EQUIPPED! Who tf thought this was a good idea?? It's not fun, it's not interesting on a mechanical level, all it does is make the game more annoying and tedious.
    As for some of the other stuff: Nintendo seems to have a weird problem with QoL features in general. Just like you can't craft in bulk in Animal Crossing, you cannot upgrade your gear in bulk at the Great Fairies, instead having to skip the same animation over and over and over again, and you also cannot buy more than a maximum of 25 arrows at one shop at a time, instead having to teleport to another shop to get more (which of course means interrupting the game with another load screen). I have no idea why they do it this way or how they think any of that would enhance the player experience in any way.
    Edit: Just came back to say that I also don't like having to play a Gacha game for Zonai devices. Why not just allow the player to spend charges on the devices they want and need instead of forcing them to acquire dozens of the varieties they barely use?

    • @Christopher-md7tf
      @Christopher-md7tf Рік тому

      @@johnasoris8119 Well, it might be kind of a spoiler, but I honestly already suspected this might be the case. But, just as you say, that is just WAY too much effort to go through just to be able to deal with such a frequent annoyance, and one that arguably shouldn't even be in the game in this form in the first place, considering how many people had a problem with it in BotW. At the very least, just putting on the full gear (or drinking a high-level potion) without upgrading it should make you completely slip-resistant, seeing as you already have to complete one of the longest side quests in the game to even get your hands on it.
      I mean, imagine this with any other hazard, like if there was no way to fully inoculate yourself against extreme cold other than upgrading all of the snowquill gear twice. It's absurd.

    I've been playing the game with pro HUD since the first minute and I'm about 140 hours in. It could use some work for sure. BotW pro HUD showed hearts at all times, this game only shows hearts if you get hurt or heal. Would like if it just popped up in combat. Temperature, noise, time, abilities, map, etc are mot necessary when playing the game(for me) but one thing really pissed me off. Tutorial hints are turned off in pro HUD for some odd reason. There are some basic game mechanics I did not know for a long time because the game did not tell me.
    About 5 hours in I figured out how to rotate items with ultra hand. I did this through experimentation. About 10 hours in I found out you can wiggle the stick to remove stuck items(why would you not tell players this?!?), and about 40 hours in I realized you can straighten your body with R while youre skydiving. I think at this point I've mastered the mechanics, but I can not even slightly understand why you would think pro HUD players do not need to know essential gameplay mechanics and controls.
