@@wet0wl Basically, since Fusion is a thing, and Fusion always adds a certain amount to the damage number, the devs didn't want spears to become OP, since they could no longer control the damage numbers they came with.

I actually miss the text about your horse being unable to hear you, it ruins one of the best jokes I ever came up with in BotW. It was made all the better when the ancient horse armor was added and my horse would manifest before me. The Gods, finally began answering my prayers.

What suprised me was how much moving the towers changed to change the landscape. I so turned around a couple of times because of those landmarks being gone.
Yeah the sun having changed positions really makes a striking difference to the overall experience - Hyrule looks very different because of this relatively simple change, barely recognisable at times, coupled with all the other new additions. It's really neat.
You missed my favorite subtle change - when you upgrade armor at a fairy fountain it no longer moves the newly upgraded armor to the bottom. Rather it stays put where it belongs!
If you run out of arrows just break crates whenever you see them and kill lynels for their multishot bows. I'm currently siting on over 800 arrows despite deciding it's gleeock hunting season.
The sun changing positions is a very nice detail and actually confirms that at least a few months transpired between games! Since Hyrule is pretty much located at whatever planet's tropics (since the Faron Province is referred to as "tropical"), the angle at which the sun's rays hit the planet would differ quite a bit depending on what season it is.
id say it was a few years and it takes places at a different point of the year they’re currently in. some characters definitely aged up a bit, and the building process for the towers, look out landing etc… must’ve taken them quite a bit of time, even if some sort of technology was used to assemble things.
It was definitely a few years. I know this, bc my friends who want to fuck Link did a lot of research and analysis to prove that he's legal and likely in his early 20's. (And because I dared one of them to and the group chat kinda ran with it but y'know. Details.)
Not to be contrary, but the sun is almost opposite the position it's in in BotW, which suggests a purely artistic choice rather than one based within lore. Furthermore, tropical climates experience less variation in the sun's relative position between seasons than those further from the equator (on Earth, can't speak for Hyrule's planet if it's even on one). -A
I figured the amount of time it took for the two games to come out in real life is how long the two games take place. Also gives Purah enough time to grow up and stuff.
Great list! Especially fond of the new Tarrey Town night theme, too. Another compelling change is the menu system has a lighter white trimmed aesthetic. BtoW’s was good, too, but it was all dark and muted, feeling stylish and refined. TotK’s in still images doesn't look as good, but in game, it makes much more sense visually. The dark on light icons is easier to interpret at a glance than light icons on dark backgrounds, etc.
The only thing I hate is the UI in the inventory. The icons aren't contrasted enough with the border, so it's remarkably hard to see the icons. Had to change my damn TV settings and tbh it didn't help much
2:02 they removed the ability to see health bars because they actually lie to you about how much damage certain weapon types do! Spears actually do about 25% less damage than they say and two handed weapons do about 5% more than they say! This is because they thought nobody would use spears (despite their fast attack speed and range) if the damage number looked too low, and they thought too many people would use two handed weapons for similar reasoning. If you could see how much damage things do with the champion’s tunic, you would know that they’re lying!
5:51 - The detail here is that all the water you sent up with the impact rains down around you. I noticed it the very first time you dive, and I can't think of ANY other game that I've seen it done in. It's a very simple effect, too!
The sun thing is interesting. In BotW Hyrule was located on _Southern hemisphere_ - the sun was in zenith to the North. I guess they changed that so that it's more intuitive to majority of the players.
I think they changed it to give more of a fresh feel to the Hyrule we already know. I spent the first couple of hours on the ground not understanding where things were. Kakariko felt wrong with shadows comming from the other side, but now I got used to it.
They changed weapon damage values. Spears do less than they’re marked as doing, and two handers are undermarked. That’s probably why there’s no way to see exact damage numbers.

Let's added what I know or remember. -The meteorite drops more and I mean more often, even 2 on a single night. -Link now imitate enemies animation when wearing their hat and even imitate the sound, that's neat. -You can't spam sneak attack now, in BoTW you can do that by walking to their back when they get up.
I think I heard that the reason there are no hearty durians and that the sun has changed positions in the sky is because not only does Tears of the Kingdom take place approximately five years after Breath of the Wild, but it also takes place in a different season. Which is why you now find tomatoes and no durians, it's not the proper season for durians to grow.
The hood thing was such a nice surprise when I finished that quest and then happened to be wearing my hylian hood when I talked to Cece. It’s also the only way to have Link with his hair pulled back in the ponytail ring without sacrificing a head armor.
Does the Unbearably Hot/Cold message pop up when you're in Pro HUD mode? Cus that would be REALLY helpful! One thing I always struggled with the Pro HUD is knowing when I've ventured into a hot or cold area BEFORE I actually take damage! It's specially important in this game as I often walk around w a quarter health left in order to take advantage of the Knight weapons double damage buff.
Most of conversations in this game start w. The NPC talking to themselves or someone else only to go "oh I didn't notice you!" N then give the dialogue i noticed lol
I spent like 3 minutes diving and re-diving in the starting section because I was like “That’s a new sound”. I just plugged on my AirPods and listened.
My theory on some of the changes is that they are seasonal. The sun being in a different place in the sky and different fruit and vegetables growing makes a lot of sense when you consider that this game is probably taking place at a different time of year in Hyrule.
In breath of the wild the champions tunic is just a shirt but when Zelda makes the champions leathers she puts chainmail armor under it to protect link more
Buy one, have her put it down. Buy a second and keep it up. That way you can have a hood in whatever state you want, whenever you want, without having to cross a continent to have a lady adjust it for you. Also, if you talk to her about it with more than one hood, she changes every hood in your inventory at once to the same state, up or down.
Also when you shoot mid air and the game slows down, in Botw it takes stamina based by how long you are holding ZR, no matter if you shoot or not you still lose stamina, in Totk its measured per arrow, so if you end up not shooting you atleast don’t lose your stamina
I noticed too that when tou make food for say attack are defense and the like in BOTW you get a sound effect letting you know that it ran out but in TOTK the sound effect is gone
The reason the health doesn't show is because they changed the weapons to deal damage different from displayed. Spears are weaker and claymores are stronger. This is to help with fuse scaling.
4:08 The sun changed in TotK because it was wrong in BotW. In the northern hemisphere, the sun rises in the east, is due south at noon, and sets in the west. In BotW, the sun was in the north at noon. Now it's right.
All those Zora colours were present in BotW. There are new ones, like deep red and yellow, but BotW was still colourful. There are also new Goron colours. Barin and Tule are two brands of ashy. (Seriously, the Goron population seems to have doubled somehow.) Granté has changed his name to Grantéson and scrapped his Sheikah clothing to get a job with Hudson. Cado's donkey has a white topknot with chopsticks under its Sheikah umbrella.
Haha very slick. In BotW we did indeed build Tarry Town "from the ground up" I caught ya (for those that dont know, that was the name of the quest to build Tarry Town)
Don't buy arrows from Beddle they're more expensive than the regular shops in the villages. I think the other travelling merchants are cheaper as well but I'm not 100% sure
Im 120 hours in TotK. At 140 shrines already have to get to last boss in game and yet i havent been to Tarrey Town. And have yo make almost every side quest at hateno.
Speaking of NPC's being more aware of their surroundings, I think more NPC's react to Link being unclothed too. Some NPC's in BotW reacted as well, but it seemed like very few did. In TotK, it's still the case that not all NPC's react to it, but it seems to me like a lot more do.
The Temple of Time doesn't have its signature tune like it did in BOTW. Enemies don't seem to avoid Time Bombs like they would with the Bomb Runes. Robbie is short and the game doesn't explain why (or does it?)
@Break Glass For Memes lol, I thought he was taller in BOTW and had to look it up, but I think now, it was because I played Age of Calamity where he is tall
Time Bombs aren’t like the Bomb Runes. They explode upon impact, not when the user chooses to detonate, which you cannot do. The Temple of Time is now the Temple of Time Ruins, as the one in the sky is much more important to this game’s story.
The Pro HUD in ToTK is divine. Only the utter most important info in specific scenarios, like taking damage. Never understood why the triforce symbol was hard baked in BoTW.
@@kenji6492 Yes, I know. What I mean is, starting the game and seeing the save file would already tell you that, so why a constant 24/7 reminder of it. Wasn't a big deal, but it sure distracted me from time to time.
You know why they removed the HP bar from champion tunic? It would reveal the fact that weapon number you see is a lie. Spears for example do 25% less damage than what the number implies. For example, my silver lynel horn fused with the lightscale trident in rain has 154 damage number. In actuality, it does 116 damage. Two handed weapons do more damage than shown and i believe one handed weapon do less. There is an excel sheet available for calculating true damage in totk.
I may be wrong, but I suspect the game has "learned" from the fact that when I tag a shine with a marker I then swap it for a Star stamp. I swear sometimes the game now automatically adds the Star stamp without my input. On both surface and directly below in the depths. Can anyone confirm??

Felix over here looking like a young Anton Ego 😂😂
My theory on some of the changes is that they are seasonal.
The sun being in a different place in the sky and different fruit and vegetables growing makes a lot of sense when you consider that this game is probably taking place at a different time of year in Hyrule.
I gave one of the sand seals an orb from the heroines quest, and it clapped then started playing with the ball
Rupees grabbing with A is also a thing in BOTW. It was the first thing that felt weird for me when I played it for the first time.
In breath of the wild the champions tunic is just a shirt but when Zelda makes the champions leathers she puts chainmail armor under it to protect link more
I did not know you could put down the Hylian Hood. That's so helpful because I wear it all the time!
@@shartsmcginty8056 Oh, I should have done that. I bought the second hood and then asked for the change.
When swimming up waterfalls, can you cancel and start paragliding halfway up the waterfall?
The reason the health doesn't show is because they changed the weapons to deal damage different from displayed. Spears are weaker and claymores are stronger. This is to help with fuse scaling.
beautiful editing and lovely video again! haha
4:02 The guide dude will also say "Is that... Zeldas?" If you have zeldas horse
4:08 The sun changed in TotK because it was wrong in BotW. In the northern hemisphere, the sun rises in the east, is due south at noon, and sets in the west. In BotW, the sun was in the north at noon. Now it's right.
I was audibly excited when I saw the rito actually flying
All those Zora colours were present in BotW. There are new ones, like deep red and yellow, but BotW was still colourful.
There are also new Goron colours. Barin and Tule are two brands of ashy. (Seriously, the Goron population seems to have doubled somehow.)
Granté has changed his name to Grantéson and scrapped his Sheikah clothing to get a job with Hudson.
Cado's donkey has a white topknot with chopsticks under its Sheikah umbrella.
I went looking for hearty durians when i was about to go fight the final boss and i thought i was going insane when i couldn't find them
Haha very slick. In BotW we did indeed build Tarry Town "from the ground up" I caught ya (for those that dont know, that was the name of the quest to build Tarry Town)
I’m going to need a list of ALL the changes from BotW. DO IT COWARDS!
Was actually wondering how the heck did you lowered your hylian hoodie good thing you mentioned since it seemed cooler too! Ty!
Being able to pick up rupees with A is NOT a small nor subtle difference. It's incredible!
Beedles prices for arrows is higher than the different shops in towns
5:08 - The Pink Zora color isn't new, Gaddison was in BotW.
gaddison isn’t pink though
8:32 I hope youre taking the piss, 'seh-say' - its pronounced 'see-see'
...Octorok's don't shoot accross the field when you hit them anymore. Chests have less bounce ( >:) ) when you pull them from the ground
The chests also don't clip through the ground if you open them upside down.
31: there's no Master Mode, because you don't need it, you're going to die a lot in regular mode
2:10 it's removed cuz spears do 25% less damage than shown and 2 handed weapons do 5% more than shown
I miss actual sledgehammers
Me too
Don't buy arrows from Beddle they're more expensive than the regular shops in the villages. I think the other travelling merchants are cheaper as well but I'm not 100% sure
Beedle is cute but he's a crook
@@Ebola-Jones I mean, he does plot to send assassins/robbers after you if you don't trade him that beetle.
Im 120 hours in TotK. At 140 shrines already have to get to last boss in game and yet i havent been to Tarrey Town. And have yo make almost every side quest at hateno.
this game has been amazing. I heard the paraglider in the rain sound when listening with my headphones. It sounds good.
The lag when you free the great fairies is gone.
I'd love the option of being able to sort by value when selling to vendors
You can move from side-to-side when swimming up waterfalls?!?!
He was short in BOTW too. He's short for the same reason Impa is short. Because he's old.
5:11 Pink was always in BOTW, Gaddison was always there.
They should really get rid of the horse spurs on the HUD while trotting. It just doesn’t need to be there for any reason.
Please be honest. The Insertion Number was due to a problem in the audiofile and Felix couldn't rerecord for some reason? Come on tell me!
I'm upset you have to press A for the rupees now 😥
Think Link got the land "outside" of Tarrey town because Link doesn't have "-son" in his name? 🤔
The Pro HUD in ToTK is divine. Only the utter most important info in specific scenarios, like taking damage. Never understood why the triforce symbol was hard baked in BoTW.
It was hard baked because it was to denote you were in Master Mode - it doesn't exist in the base difficulty.
@@kenji6492 Yes, I know. What I mean is, starting the game and seeing the save file would already tell you that, so why a constant 24/7 reminder of it. Wasn't a big deal, but it sure distracted me from time to time.
You can put your hood down?!? That totally made watching this worth it.
Thanks for the additional sound effects when you splash into the water!!!! 😅 I hated that mini game so bad 😂
Dude you wore the zora armor while swimming up the waterfall you could do that in botw
8:30 the way you pronounced cece is criminal! its see see
Sussy
The only thing you missed were the bridge apples changing in kakariko village
The sun position in both was north. As it would be in the southern hemisphere. Totk its south like we experience in the northern hem.
You missed TOTK max of 40 heart containers while BOTW only max out at 30.
They also removed hearty Salmon - no more salmon meuniere (i was mistaken, they are just hard to find)*
They still in the game, you just can't fish them anymore. You can buy them in Zora's Domain and I believe bears drop them sometimes
@@FIamestalker I actually just got a roasted hearty salmon from a hinox and was astounded. I haven't finished zora quests so they haven't appeared for me yet
They are in the waters of the Castle Docks.
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
Oh yeah baby Felix is HERE
Felix is God.
@@PhoenixWrightAceAttorneyhe is
