I have been going to Lake George for the last 25 years. Being 38 now, I feel like I grew up there. I now take my kids there every summer. It is still my favorite place to spend a week in the summer. I have been to Caribbean Islands and on many cruises and I can honestly say Lake George is my favorite place on earth. My dream to own a house on the lake a little further north from the village. Maybe some day that will happen.
One correction,. many of us Baby Boomers slept in tents at Battleground or Hearthstone. I was one of the boys who found the British soldier remains in 1959 behind what would be come the Tiki Motor lodge.
Er--not 9 W, that's a whole other road. It's Route 9....and it was the Northway, not the Thruway--well, maybe part of the Thruway if you weren't from the Albany area. Still, nice video. I grew up going to Lake George every summer...and later actually lived, worked & went to college there, respectively residing in Corinth, Lake Luzerne, Lake George & Glens Falls, over the years, until illness forced me to move elsewhere. I was a ride operator at Great Escape (Storytown) in the late 1990's. Lived & worked in Lk George in 2006, walking approx. 3 miles to work from one end of town to the other from my flat alongside Elisabeth Brook, 7 days a week during the summer season. Many things have changed--but some haven't. Thanks for posting this.
Yes, Rachel Ray still has ties to Lake George, and in 2006 visited the high school. At the time I lived less than a quarter mile away, and saw her in a local shop one day.
OldMaidWhovian akaNancyG She now has a house in Lake Luzerne. She still gets her beacon from a smoke house shop in Warrensburg, Oscar's. The owner Is related to close family friends of my wife, who live in New Jersey. I've close ties to Lake George since I was a kid, spent my whole summers there. In 1959 while playing behind what is now the Tiki Resort, my brother and I with some friends discovered British skeletons from the Battle of Lake George. Freaked us out.
brought back a lot of memories. two suggestions... the yellow subtitles are often unreadable. The movie projector sound effect is terrible. Lose it please!
Fort Ti is NOT on Lake George! It is NEAR the northern end of Lake George. It's actually on LAKE CHAMPLAIN. Do your research better! Frontier Town was in North Hudson, a good 45 min. from Lake George.
Filthy lake, drunken powerboaters everywhere, Tourist gouging prices, TERRIBLE traffic. Weak food scene, NO privacy.Don't waste your families' time, or money. STEER CLEAR.

As of 2012 Howard Johnson's is closed. Side note, Rachael Ray used to work there , I think while going to Lake George High School

It's actually the only one still standing. Went there fall 2016 and they still have crap food and terrible service. Just like always
The big statues are now gone from the front of the theme park. 😭😭😭

That's not the Steamin Demon. That's the Boomerang.
