Great demo. It feels like you showed the best example of what this amp can do and very likely how the majority of players are going to use it. One thing that stands out to me is how sweet the P-90s sound through the boutique settings.
Thank you for this video! I have the 60 watt version and this makes me want to dig into the boutique channel way more as I've been mainly on the dynamic one so far!
I've got this exact amp. It really doesn't ring my bell. I find it kind of muffled/distant/fake. It doesn't give me the "amp in the room" feel. It's like the difference between listening to a singer in the same room and then listening to the singer who's been recorded and played back over a speaker. This amp sounds like the latter to me. To each their own! When it comes to affordable SS amps, I have to say the Katana MKII 100 actually does give the amp in the room feel. I don't know how, but it does it!
I have a Katana MK II Artist and the Catalyst and I know what you're saying. It may be the class AB power section in the Katana but it definitely has that amp in the room thing. I will say that the Catalyst may not have quite that same feel I don't find it to be distant or fake, just not quite as "lively". Once in a full band mix, the Catalyst does very well. I find you have to push the gain up a bit and the channel volume some and the amp seems to "open" up more. Just my 2 cents, which probably isn't even worth that much. Lol
The goldfoil or the white with the Jazzmaster? I've gigged with this and the gold foil a BUNCH and it's great. It sounds good with my other Jazzmasters too
Just got my Catalyst CX 60 and manual mode is EXTREMELY quiet (almost completely muted) when I used it. I even crank the gain and master and I can barely hear it. Nothing plugged in the back, just the guitar into the amp. Is this normal?
@@GetOffset hey thank you so much for the quick reply! I have both the gain and the master volume cranked, and at that point I barely get some sound out of it. But I’m not sure what you mean by the attenuator. Is that something in the app itself? Or is that on the amp? Whether or not my laptop is plugged in the result is the same. I’ve used amps for many years, but this is my first time with a modeling amp so there’s a lot of choices so it’s entirely possible that I’m missing something. But I’m no slouch when it comes to technology and after doing some research and trying pretty much everything in the book I’m hardly getting any signal coming through. Channels A and B are perfect though. I updated the app to version 2.0.1 and also tried factory resetting it and neither helped. I’m going to give Guitar Center a call and see if I can exchange it for a new one because I truly love this amp! Hopefully the return process to my local store isn’t to pay since I bought this on Guitar Center online. Love your demo here by the way! :)
Demoing the Catalyst with a Revstar. I JUST last week got a Revstar Standard with Humbuckers, and just added a Catalyst this last weekend (to my Katana, Axe FX, Helix Stomp and 2 Fenders). Nice job. I like the Boutique as well, but the crunch is pretty darn nice too
@@GetOffset The CAT's strength, imho, is it's tone(s), and to a lesser extent feel and response to playing dynamics. It definitely has the Helix DNA in that regard. It is also completely usable from just the amp. I wish there were less multi-function buttons and knobs, and a few added to control things. But. one could never use the App, and just the amp controld, if one wanted to. On the flip side, I think it lags a little compared to the Katana for live use, without spending some money. I already had a Morningstar MIDI controller, so I can easily use all 6 banks of 2 channel presets. If you don't have one, and you can get by with 2 channels and pedals, then you get great tone, feel and a hella fun amp to play.

That little piece you played at 5:40 was lovely. Great video.
Thank you very much!
That one's called Old Growth and it's streaming/on iTunes and stuff.
@@GetOffset Thank you! What artist name? I've searched "Old Growth get offset" on Spotify and UA-cam Music.

I have the 60 watt and this has opened my eyes to so many possibilities! Many Thanks!
Glad I could help!
4:18 lol, most real thing I have seen in a demo video yet.
thanks for the smile.🍁
Lmao I rewatched it and my husband would probably call that classic Emily
I know the opening chord progression is super basic, but I love it. I really love your playing!
It’s the basic progressions that make for the best songs, Richard Ashcroft used to write bangers that barley went passed 4 chords
Your joy is infectious, Emily. Thanks for the video review!
Glad you enjoyed it!

This is a good review. Nice job of showing the effects. Thanks
Love your tone and playing style. Great video and really good amp.
When using headphones are the fx stereo, also when recording via usb is there a stereo option 🙂

Muffled? Its the most saggy trebly amp ive played. I don't even play my 5150 tube combo anymore
Those bends @13:00 ish are great!
Thank you!
Can you send me a link of what I need to hook this up to my iPhone 11?
As in the dongle? Any lightning to the correct USB should work.
I haven’t had a chance to watch this yet but do you like it better than the Katana?
I've never spent a more than a few minutes with a Katana, but I didn't vibe with the Katana very quickly. This was pretty instant.
Shout out to that Easy Tiger ATX shirt! Great review too.
I love Easy Tiger! One of my favorite places in atx 💜💜💜
Have you ever played that jazzmaster through it?.. If so how does it sound? I have that same one that you do with the bigsby

Definitely not normal. What about channel volume? Is the attenuator turned down?

Didn’t even know there was an app for this !
I use it! It's helpful
How do you connect the phone to the amp?
You have to use a USB cable
How do you save settings made in the app?
You can save to A/B pretty much the same was as on the amp, but you can save deeper files along the top if you pause when the iPad app screen is up.
I just want to go from clean distortion with the foot switch without killing my ears
