    “The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.
    But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
    Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
    don’t be happy when they stumble.
    For the Lord will be displeased with you
    and will turn his anger away from them.
    Don’t fret because of evildoers;
    don’t envy the wicked.”

    The number one model railroading skill, that you failed to mention, is patience. You need to let paint dry, glue to cure and some jobs just shouldn't be rushed. I find this especially true in the smaller scales like N-scale. Drinking Krispy Kreme classic with a touch of Coffeemate creamer.

    Very good skills you mentioned Jimmy, but I think you left out 1 very important skill that I am still working on myself. Organization....lol. This way you can easily find the tool/item that you need readily easy so you don't get frustrated looking for whatever your looking for, then end up tearing the trainroom apart to find it or going and buying another one. I've done that a few times, okay many times...lol. - Jason

      I can't even count the number of times that has happened to me! More than a few times, I have gone ahead and purchased items, only to find that I already had them "hidden in plain sight" somewhere in the shop/layout area. I am terrible at organization, so you definitely got me with this one.

    Lol we got Jimmy to drink Timmie's. But there's a reason double doubles are so popular here, Timmie's is terrible black. Lol

    Physics, , Photography and Forethought
    Physics - Understand structural integrity and in particular diagonal bracing, (learned it at my father's kneecap)
    Photography - Will pickup what your eye missed, (don't ask me how I know). Ya ever go back ove a photo of your pride and joy only to discover, Ooooops! How did *that* get there?
    Forethought - Planning / sequence, step by step. Wait, how come that doesn't fit there.
    Cleanup - Never leave a work space dirty. (don't ask me how I know).
    There is more but I'll spare you.

      Especially with spray paint. If you’re custom painting anything in model railroading with spray paint : slow down, have a plan, read the instructions on the can, and especially this… light coats!

    Hey Jimmy, great subject. How about knowing when to say when? Sometimes when I’m working after dark my eyes start to get a little bit blurry and I feel frustration sneaking up behind me… that’s when I step back and admire what I’ve accomplished and just walk away.
    As usual,cafeteria coffee same great flavor BUT no grounds this time. :-)

    As others have said, Patience and Organization are 2 big ones as well. My patience is pretty good, but my organization isn't the best, though it works ok for me. For coffee my 2 go-to brews are Deaths Door Dark Roast from Door County Coffee and Columbian Supremo from Infusio, and what I add to them all depends on the day.

    Great video, soldering was my downfall, but after all the fails and watching so many videos on it, I've got it down! makes my railroad run so much smoother! siting at my desk with a big mug of Black Rifle!

    I've been watching and learning a lot from your videos. I just found you recently while searching model railroad building. Today, I was model railroading, as I worked on a track diamond for my 7 1/2" gauge backyard railroad. But I want to build something for the N scale that I have stashed away when winter comes and I can't always work outside. I may start with a coffee table layout. And speaking of coffee...I am in the U.S. and drinking Tim Horton's. Black. Sometimes with a little cream. I got hooked on their coffee visiting family in Canada. Fortunately, in Michigan, it can be found locally, either in some super markets or at the scattered Tim Horton's retail location here. Thanks!

    I like the building part and painting but will have to learn soldering and how to wire things. I have learned the carpenter part by building reptile enclosures and stands. Have 6 foot by 3 foot tortoise table and learned a lot building that. Thank you for great video and advice. Thanks to all those who add to the advice also. Diffently will work on patients and not to be so messy when I paint 😂😂😂
    GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖
