Nighthawk is absolutely killer daily watch..I'm not a Citizen fan ...met other owners that own Rollies even & enjoy the Nighthawk more... I want another but I want to upgrade the class to aftermarket sapphire
@@EricsEverydayWatches it's already one of my favorites! For the longest time, I wanted the blue dialed radio-controlled one with half numerals and half bars indices, CBO240-11L. But in person it felt too busy. The 12 and 6 with bars feels more balanced against the black dial. I love the sparkle of the applied markers too, and that doesn't show in photos or video at all.... I'm probably buying two more today 😅... Am I a watch investor now? 😆
I just discovered the world of watches properly. Used to own fashion watches before. Citizen has it all honestly. I could own an entire collection of citizens only. I recently ordered the nighthawk blue angel 1 and the CA500 chronograph. Stunning watches.

I bought mine yesterday!! I've been in love with it for a long time. It arrives Sunday and tbh I haven't been this excited for getting a watch in a while. I have no doubt this is going to be a collectors watch! Especially... And I have to say it... Citizen ruined their chance with version 2 with no stainless strap and plastic bezel! They cheaped out all the way around on v 2. But like most things..the sequel is rarely as good and even more rare, better than the original. You hit the nail on the head with this review and I can't wait to pass mine down to my son. Again...great review. Thanks

I own several watches that vary in price from very expensive to no less than 200 dollars and I have had this specific Citizen pilot watch for almost 10 years and its been with me in the swimming pool countless times, hot tub, salty oceans in several countries, its fallen in muddy water and cleaned off, I have dropped it several times from wrist height on dirt paths, cement sidewalks, rocky mountain climbs, I have purposely abused this watch to be honest with all of you just to see if I could somehow break it on purpose by being rough with it and tossing it around...well, I haven't been able to do so. I have given up on trying to purposely break the watch because now I know how amazing the build quality is on this watch. If there is a watch I would recommend to anyone looking for a true mans quality, heavy duty tool watch...this is it! Look no further. Although my metal bracelet is scratched up it is still in perfect working condition as it was from day one that I bought this watch and I have several scratches on the mineral crystal...a simple swap of the mineral crystal with a sapphire crystal will make this watch last the rest of my lifetime. Dam, I really wish Citizen could make a diver watch as good as this pilot watch and I would be one of the first in line to buy one....in the meantime I will keep enjoying my Tissot SeaStar 2000 Pro.
As someone who just started getting into the watch world and looking into buying my very first watch, I came across Nighthawk in a random UA-cam review just a couple weeks ago and went to Amazon (Canada) to check the price and was met with much less appealing version. It was only after that I realized it was a new and somewhat downgraded version. But my very first reaction was that exactly what you described in this video. It turned from expensive looking watch to run of the mill one.

Hey Darkestfugue. Thanks for watching. Citizen does not list the bezel material on its website. My guess is its some sort of PVD coating or ion plating (hopefully) and not completely plastic. I'm generally not a fan of any sort of coating because it gets nicks and shows through eventually. It looks plastic, but I did not mean to imply its necessarily 100% plastic. Hope that was not misleading.
@@EricsEverydayWatches no i enjoyed your video very much, it definitely provokes thought, i like both of them for different reason but i admit i do like the fleiger style dial more on the new one, in every other way though i prefer the original, your point about the bracelet is a good one,you certainly are getting less for your money, i would change to a rubber strap anyway but the bracelet is always nice to have

I think you are correct. The Nighthawk-1 is a timeless design. I did not fully appreciate it until i had it in hand.

Original Nighthawk is one of the prettiest pilot watches ever designed. It's nicer than most of ultra premium brand pilots....

Truthfully, the only downside of this watch is the mineral crystal. It will get scratched if you breathe on it hard enough.
