I know you guys did not touch on AHM in this video but was wondering if there is a discrete command to "stop" the playback audio files? Seems that you can only trigger/retrigger.
In the DAW control documentation it says you can make an input or output fader respond to midi. I see how it works with the midi faders but how does it work with an input. It would be really cool to multitrack record and also record automation to all the tracks.
Hi Jonathan, This is indeed possible! I recommend using the CC Translator protocol for this as this will use simple MIDI messages for the input channels. Please go to support.allen-heath.com to start a support ticket and I can go through how to set this up with you! Thanks Alex

Sorry if I'm asking a question that you've answered already. Before asking my question, I just want to say that I feel confident in controlling the Qu-16 via MIDI when the audio is sent through USB. However, I'd really like to use MIDI from a laptop to control a fader that is outputting sound from the Local input. I specifically want to do this on a laptop as opposed to a tablet app, and I specifically want to control a local source as I read on Sound on Sound that the QU-16's local inputs are analogue (is that correct?). Is my request possible? Did I miss something?
Hi Justin, I recommend going to support.allen-heath.com to contact our support team with more information on what it is you would like to do. One of the team will then be able to help.

(i use waves card) wih SQ5 its possible to record multitrack in DAW such as Cubase and plug the (midi keyboard) for live performance and hear the midi keyboard from the speakers and with the same time the cubase recording the traks of midi keyboard as midi file (not audio.wav) to change the sounds later and edit the notes ? ( i dont know where i should plug the midi keyboard into pc or should i buy bome box ?) -can i use waves emotion lv1 software with allen and heath mobile app ? both same time ?
Hi Ehab, This is indeed possible! The SQ streams 32 x 32 channels of audio when connected to a computer and you can use these however you need. You would need to plug the MIDI keyboard into your computer, then assign the audio output of the MIDI instrument track in Cubase to the SQ. The SQ MixPad app connection (through the network port) will be separate to the Waves connection, so you should have an issue doing both tasks at the same time. Thanks! Alex

Hi! Every product series is slightly different in terms of MIDI control, so I recommend going to support.allen-heath.com for assistance. We can then provide the documentation for the product series you're using. Thanks! Alex
Hi! It is possible to do this by enabling the Control Network Bridge option in the IO Port settings. This may not be suitable in some setups, as all Network data is sent through the IO port with this enabled, but will work for this task. You can find information on this for SQ here: www.allen-heath.com/media/SQ_ReferenceGuide_V1_5_0.pdf#page=83 Thanks! Alex
I'm kinda lost here. I have a Dlive setup with Superrack and Virtual soundcheck via soundgrid from reaper. So I can have my Dlive snapshots synced up to my superrack via AH midi control TCP/IP, and for some superrack controls with soft keys. But I also want to have scenes control reaper transport (play and record) with my Dlive sending out CUSTOM midi strings(can easily set that up in scene control menu) - but I'm stuck with reaper. Can anyone help me if it is possible with AH midi control set up to midi through (since this is the needed format for dlive+superrack) for controlling reaper? I just cannot found the proper midi strings for it and also how to set it up in reaper.

Hi Yannick :) With SQ, the FX send level parameter numbers are from [0x4C, 0x14] to [0x4E, 0x23], listed on pg22 of the protocol document (www.allen-heath.com/media/SQ-MIDI-Protocol-Issue1.pdf#page=22). Is it possible to control a qu16 with an external midi device? I use a boss es5 loop switcher that can send out various midi commands pc/cc etc, I like to be able to switch on / off effects in the console for brakes between songs etc
Hi Billy, Yes, this should be possible! The Qu-16 doesn't have a 5 pin din MIDI input port, so you would need a way to interface between the two. You could use something like the BomeBox (www.bome.com/products/bomebox), or a computer with a MIDI interface. You can go to support.allen-heath.com to submit a request if you would like further assistance. Thanks! Alex
AllenandHeathUK Thank you for the swift reply, to be honest during the lock down I had toyed with the idea of scaling down and getting a rack mixer as there isn’t any option of sub groups with the qu16 but after doing sound for a band controlling there qu16 via iPad out front and getting lots of comments on how good the sound was and since then using my own qu16 with a band I joined and always getting good sound results without too much fuss I’m thinking changing desks would be a silly idea! Plus the qu16 in the Allen and Heath gig bag fits in behind the driver’s seat of my ‘09 golf run around with ease so it’s a no brainier just get on of these interfaces and have full midi control of the desk (well as much control as needed) all from the comfort of my pedal board ....! 🤜 The mic presets on the qu seem to work brilliant too! Just mabey run the low pass filter up a bit to keep vox mics out of the bass bins! Also I haven’t carried out a firmware update on the qu since I got it a few years back am I missing any new features?
AllenandHeathUK Other thing I was thinking is it possible to use the onboard mixes as sub groups via some routing/cabling as with my 3 piece band I’ve got a few groups spare .!
Hi Billy, I always recommend running the latest firmware as there are some features you may fine useful, but there will be bug fixes too. It's not possible to use a mix as a group on the Qu, but you do have DCAs available which allow multiple channel levels to be controlled by a single fader. You can find information on this here: www.allen-heath.com/media/Qu-Mixer-Reference-Guide-AP9372_10.pdf#page=45 Thanks! Alex
