Mary and Peter, You are both living proof how life goes on. There can be bumps in the road but it's important to do what you think you can't do. I am a watcher. I'm glad they could fit you in. Thank goodness for that mask. The two of you are so sweet. Recycling is so important. Years ago there was no recycling but there wasn't as many things to recycle back then. Oh Ollie boy, you make everyone happy.

So pleased you are a home hospital patient. Mary, get yourself some pads to use on the occasions of when you are peeing and coughing. Believe it or not, a lot of women have bladder leakage at stressed moments. It isn't anything to be embarrassed about and definitely easier than clothing changes. Been there, done that. I hope you coped overnight with the antibiotics.

Lyn R Agreed! And not the plastic kind that health agencies will provide, those just make you uncomfortable and kinda feel like puppy pads, buy the nice fabric ones!! theyre way more comfortable and reusable (better for the environment too) and they just overall feel less like you put a plastic bag under your bum.

100% WATCHER - I know what it looks like when its done correctly and if they mess up, I can see it when it happens! Especially blood work- I am a very hard stick so when I see the blood flow into the test tube, I release a huge sigh of relief! Keep fighting Mary! Peter, you remind me so much of my husband! Men like you are few and far between! Mine takes such great care of me and does whatever possible to help me! And I am sure Mary agrees - its such a freeing feeling to know that you have someone who will literally be beside you through sickness, in health, & in more sickness!

I'm a non-watcher turned watcher over years of chronic illness. And Mary, I totally understand having these random ambitions, yet not having the ability or energy to work towards any of them. Hope the new antibiotic will be helpful with few side effects. By the way, I've enjoyed watching your channel since I discovered it in youtube, and getting my daily dose of Frey Life has helped me cope with my situation and chronic pain. I am a fan of your videos and really enjoy them! I am so glad everything went well for the new antibiotic. I don’t have CF but I do have only 40% lung function due to heart disease and pulmonary hypertension. I am on 10 LPM oxygen 24/7 since Jan 2009 so I know how it feels to struggle to breathe due to asthma etc. Can’t get the air in and can’t get it out, horrible. I feel for you Mary. When my second son was born there was a big scare that he had CF and he had to be tested because his skin was so so salty. The doctors were worried. I didn’t even know what CF was and back then, he was born in 1979, there was no internet or cellphones of course so I had to go on a quick explanation from doctors until I got to the library. Thank God he did not have CF but I was terrified. So sorry for this long comment. God bless both of you and your amazing Ollie! 🙏❤️😀

When I was in the hospital, the nurse would come in to take blood, in the middle of the night. I would say "here let me turn the light on so I can see what you are doing". LOL I did that because my arms and hands were all bruised up because I don't think SHE could see what she was doing.

    • @kerismith1311
      @kerismith1311 5 років тому

That's going some if the nurse couldn't see what they were doing! I hear ya when you say you got all bruised up because I personally have sucky veins too. A few years ago in either 2011 or 12 I had to go for a pulmonary endoscopy procedure where I had to be put to sleep and with absolutely No Exageration but it took the anesthesia people literally 16 times to place the IV in me and stillI no success so for the 17th and last time they finally had to bring me into the procedure room and place it into my Right Internal Jugular vein which is in my neck. They numbed it with Lidocaine first but I tell you what I cried like a blubbering baby after they injected it because it burned like nobody's business! I'm like "Can I move my head?" They said let us tape it down first unless you want us to do it again. I'm like "Nope No way in Hell are you doing that again!!" LOL

When I was younger (I'm 60 now) I couldn't watch anything without passing out. I could never even watch them give me a shot. If I had a bloody skinned knee or elbow (which as a tomboy I often did) I'd pass out. Then, 13 years ago my mother had a massive stroke that totally debilitated her and I quit my job, brought her home with me, and took over as her caregiver. After being with her 24/7 watching and helping with holding her hand for blood work, helping exchange tubes of blood from tiny veins, medications, changing diapers, etc.....I now am a watcher. I never would have thought I could look at anything bloody or gross. The me I am now is NOT the same me I was years ago.

Hey ! been following your channel for a while and really enjoy it. I think a good idea to reduce your waste would be to avoid buying plastic water bottles and buy a 5 gallon jug that you can trade instead if your tap water isn't good enough to drink. An other thing would be to avoid using paper or plastic plates when you have diner.
I am saying this since i have noticed these two elements that maybe could be dealt in a more eco friendly way.
Hope that Antibiotic goes well with you Mary.
    Happy Holidays.

I can’t watch while needle is going in but once it is I can watch. Now I did get to watch a knee surgery. I was in for a miniscus (sp) tear and I asked my surgeon if I could watch. He said sure. They numbed me from waste down and since it was a scope I got to watch on the monitor. I did have loopy drugs in. The surgery did end up getting more complicated and he had to open me up. After that I could watch any more because the scope was put away. I found it fascinating. It is weird I can’t watch needles going into me but I can watch a surgery on me lol. It will be interesting if I have to go on a RA med where I have to give myself the shot. I know it will end up happening and I do not know how I will do it lol. Maybe my hubby will give it to me.

I watch my port access, IVs (first 4 sticks), sometimes I watch my intrathecal pump refills. I've begged for videos of my surgeries.
For my wife, I watch IVs, port sticks (although I usually do them), pump refills, etc.
Peter- How do you handle watching other people alsoaccessing her port or even giving boluses? It drives me crazy when they break protocol or inject air. Even time I speak up,they act like I'm crazy for caring about venous air because "it's not a lethal amount".
I recycle medical trash whenever possible (mostly packaging, but nothing that touches blood). I've even recycled transfer syringes (only touched zofran bottle and brand new saline bag). Those bags saline comes in, recycled too (the smaller bags use REALLY thick plastic. The amount of medical trash was really getting to me too.

Mary and Peter regarding recycling. I have become a really bad keeper of recycled goods. I have a very creative mind and am a crafter. I see or feel there is more I can do with this piece of "trash " before I can let go of it. Not often enough I have had enough and toss most all of the stuff. Poor pickup people, can not let go of it if I had to sort , that would be triggering way to much. Love you guys, keep you in my prayer. 🙃🙃🙃

Very true....causes so many problems for lung patients and people who are allergic....it should be in public places as well as hospitals....I get called to ER for lung patients because of the over perfumed!! And...those spray deodorizers that seem to be everywhere....what happened to the Coco Chanel fragrance rule....spray lightly....walk thru....

Cat Guthrie Or as the Queer Eye guys say “Spray, Delay and Walk away”.
I agree with them, because you only have a nice scent that’s pleasant for all.

I do it like Coco Chanel. Spray nd walk through. Even in offices where there is a no fragrance rule, I've never had an issue doing it this way.

I love my perfumes and will never give them up, BUT...you have to be very close to me to notice the scent I'm wearing. Now, I love the smell of most perfumes and colognes, but many people don't and I try my best to not impose my Eternity on anyone but me.

Agreed. I don't have any issues with my lungs, but, a few weeks ago, I almost passed out in an elevator after someone sprayed a particularly pungent perfume. Please, be mindful of others if you choose to wear perfume.

Glad you had a Positive experience with the new med. I definitely do not watch when I get IVs, needles, etc. You need PSA before the doggy toy squeaks! Every time Ollie squeaks his toy my border collie goes insane barking and running around looking for it! (And I'm usually in bed watching this vlog) 😂

So I'm a total medical nerd and love all the medical shows, not really squeamish, except bodily fluids, but I can't watch when I get shots. Blood draws are okay, but it comes out slow for some reason, so I end up watching because it takes longer than they think.

I'm glad you are that talented! If you ever had to draw my blood I would have to say Good Luck because you would literally be SOL with my veins! I have had certain phlebotomists miss who usually haven't had any trouble. There is one specific person who I usually request and she used to use a butterfly needle but has to use a straight edge needle now. I have so much scar tissue from being stabbed so many times that most of my veins aren't usable anymore.

Here in Brazil in some places that people works recycling they get very thankful about any kind of help like washing milk or juices box and bottles and stuff. Here usually this kind of work is very degrading. And who works with that suffers a lot and the payment is almost nothing. It is really sad. There's a lot of families here that live literally on dumping ground. The world is not fair. 😔💔

I have been a nurse for more than 35 years. I have started MANY IVs, drawn blood hundreds of times from arms, ports, PICC lines, you name it but, when it comes to me....I am a no watcher. Yep. Most of my monthly bloodwork is fasting. If I watch, I get lightheaded. Funny, isn't it!

    Totally a "WATCHER".
When I was 17, I got a crazy blood clot 4 inches away from my heart in my subclavian vein. After spending 8 days in Children's hospital, surgery to dissolve an over two inch clot, 2 balloon angioplasties to help hold open my vein, they put me on Coumadin for 6 months. It sucks, no sports and sports were my life. I remember they had to draw my blood every Mon, Wed, Fri to make sure the levels were okay. I watched it every time and towards the end, because of the scar tissue, I would literally tell them phlebotomist, "just poke right there!"
    😂😂😂😂😂😂
My little girl is the same way and a total watcher and she's only 5. Haha!

I am NOT a watcher. 🙅🏼‍♀️ I made the mistake of watching someone put in my IV and I passed out. 😂
That sucks that someone had perfume on. I’m surprised it’s not scent free. I’ve had some pretty bad allergic/asthma/migraine reactions to various perfumes. Usually the expensive ones, oddly. Lol
