  • Thinking of buying the Fujifilm X-Pro1? So was I. If you manage to snag a good deal on the x-pro1, don't hesitate. Despite this camera being nearly a decade old it can fetch quite a high price. This camera has amassed a cult following of photographers who are in love with the design, body, and of course - the sensor. I managed to pick one up to see what the fuss was about and so far I'm quite pleased. X-Pro1 shooters, what is so unique about this camera that compels you to keep picking it up?
    x100v shooters, I'm still loyal don't worry...

Love this! My first Fuji was the X-Pro1. I “upgraded” to the X-T3, mostly for video features, but over the years drifted over to Leica M (typ 240) and Sigma fp. I recently sold all my Fuji gear, but just couldn’t part with the X-Pro1. So, I saved it and the 18mm f/2, the Fuji X to M adapter, and my X to M42 speed booster. I don’t use it much anymore, but the X-Pro1 is one of the handful of cameras I truly adore.

I‘ve just purchased an old X-Pro 1 a few days ago and I love it!
I’ve had an X100F before. It was my EDC camera for street, travel and portrait photography but some dude broke into our studio and stole it. :(
Since then I’ve worked with Sony cameras and they are great tools but they ain’t more than that - just tools. Fuji cameras and especially the X-Trans 1 sensor have that special touch, like a heart or a soul.
I’ve just rediscovered my love for street photography and I hope that it’ll serve me well ❤

Never owned the XP1 but I own the XP2 & XP3. I'd highly recommend the XP2. It's the best overall value and has the biggest jump in specs and improvement. I would never sell my XP2.
You can't go wrong is 23mm, 35mm, 50mm f2 lenses. Fast AF, weather resistant, and very light & compact.
The f1.4 23mm, 35mm, and 56mm f1.2 have the best optics but slower focusing.
Again great video! I'm loving all the Fuji videos.

The X-Pro 1 was my first Fujifilm camera... And I bought it with the money I had set aside for a Leica 50mm lens that was on backorder for my M9 (which I had at the time). I bought the three Fuji lenses too that came out with the X-Pro 1, the 28,35 & 60mm lenses and enjoyed using them all.
Now, I have the X100V and the XF10 and am now content with that... Well, maybe I might consider buying a GR3 and sell the XF10 but I'm happy to stick with the X100V now... A simpler life.

Before buying this, also consider the s5 pro. slightly older and clunkier, however the sensor is exceptional for the age (fujis own CCD), I would argue that skin tones and hues render in a more pleasing way than the early x trans cmos sensor ie X pro 1. the body is a fuji modded d200, so takes f mount lenses, allowing use of lovely vintage nikkor! just my 2 cents - would love to hear from people who own both!

My favourite is the X-Trans II sensor from the X-T1. It's the true no edit camera. It's just not worth me keeping one, because there's no pixel remapping, so when you get a jot or dead pixel, you have to edit it out. Which means that whole shoot it and print it experience is lost, because I'm back at the computer again.

I had the X-Pro1 and traded it for an X-100F but will go back to the X-PRO1. Yes, because of the sensor, but also because the results I got form my Olympus OM Zuiko lenses, particularly the 28/2.8 with black & white were just so wonderful. I strongly recommend you get that lens - they’re not expensive and give you a 40mm equivalent field of view on the X-Pro. I also have the Hexanon 40/1.8 which is a spectacular lens and will get the adapter to use it on the X-Pro. I’m primarily a film shooter, but the X-Pro1 gave me very film-like results that I really liked.

Great video and very interesting. I've recently been trying to understand exactly why I enjoy the X-Pro1 so much. I'm not finding it easy to define. It's my favourite camera to use with manual focus lenses - it just seems more in tune with the whole X-Pro1 way of working. I find the focus peaking works better for me on the X-T20 though! I only really bought the X-Pro1 because I used rangefinder cameras many years ago and wanted to find out how well that worked in the digital world. No regrets on the purchase and I can't see me selling this camera.

Hi there, just bought the Xpro1 last December! Wonderful camera, especially paired with the xf35/f1.4 ✨📷 old school magic
Also own the X100T since it came out. I use some vintage Nikkor lenses on my Xpro1 as I own a Nikon FE Filmcamera. Very cool to have that option.
My main reasons the get the ‚old diva’ were the very same: ICL system as oposed to my x100t, slowing down, be in the moment, take my time, just think more about the settings, framing etc and of course pair it with old glas to give the pictures a different character! (All the compact ones are great, zuikos have some of the most compact lenses, small even with the adapter. Yours looks nice and portable too. Was close to get the same lens a few weeks ago).
Only things I‘d like the Xpro1 to have: diff colors for focus peaking & some recent film simulations as I like to shoot jpegs with minimal processing if needed.

How do you compare the xpro1 with the x100t. I own the x100t.

    • @michel559
      @michel559 3 роки тому +1

      @@xamuth hi there,
Formfactor: X100T‘s body is slightly smaller, not by much though. Big difference is the lens. Here you see it side by side: cameradecision.com/compare/Fujifilm-X100T-vs-Fujifilm-X-Pro1
I prefer the ergonomics of the XP1, just fits my hand better, better grip as well. Feels like a proper camera, still in a small package, it all comes down to the lens. (Strictly talking size) I have the 18/2 (very compact) the 35/1.4 (w/o lens hood just right). Tried the fujicrons 35/2 & 23/2 nice balanced feel wouldn‘t like any bigger/longer lenses on the XP1 - got the 7Artisans 35/1.2 wow perfect combo)
So, the X100T you just drop in your bag, what ever bag it is you carry with you daily, not so the XP1. You would certainly need a dedicated bag. (Maybe not if you just bring one lens along (18/2 or the 7Artisans) I bought the brevite jumper (works nice - even too much space 😉)
Performance wise, the X100T is ahead. Better EVF, faster AF, just about everything is faster.
The XP1 us not as bad as you read in the net, I was suprised. The EVF lags a bit, not as clear and bright as the X100T but plenty good to work with. Even with the teo older lenses AF is okay. Slower and noisier but works fine for most daily situations but fast stuff. With the fujicrons the XP1 becomes a different camera, near silent and much faster AF. I‘d say more or less as the X100T (newest firmware !) i got the xf18/2 with the body and the 35/1.4 from a friend, other wise I would have had a hard time deciding between the f2 version and my one. The fotos look different one from the other...i‘d say more organic with the 35/1.4 and more contrast with the f2. If AF is important to you, the newer f2 lenses are the way to go. The 23/2 being the fastest & near silent lens).
At the moment I have both cameras and even though I am a minimalist and would like to just have one camera as I am just a hobby fotografer I have a hard time which one I would keep.
      For the XP1 speaks:
-Interch. Lenses (even though I don‘t want to collect lenses, more like one in one out - but you have the option if you wan‘t to change)
      - feels more like a proper camera
      - better ergonomics
      - photos have a certain organic feel I like (X100T more contrast, a tad sharper maybe...more digital if you like)
      - pairing with manual lenses (vintage as well)
      X100T
      - better performance (AF, EVF etc)
      - nice & compact, more the everyday camera
      - no additional choice of lenses, focuss on what you got (less gear!)
      - classic chrome (I like to shoot jpegs and CC is a very nice filmsimulation)
To break it down, if I go out to take pictures (foto walk) I would take the XP1 and the lens I feel best (note I still would just bring one lens).
If I were to bring a camera just in case (everyday thing...going to work etc) I might opt for the smaller and more compact X100T. Still managable with the XP1 & 35/1.2 7Art. I think).
Or going on a weekend trip with your family, for the occasional shots, the X100T would be nicer I think. Drop in your coat pocket.
Not sure this is of any help. Fact is, I have a hard time deciding to let go of the X100T. Yes I lean towards the XP1 as I wan‘t to get more into photography and have the flexibility to have another focal length going fwd. but as per now the 35mm is constantly on it and I try to get the hang of that one. So still a camera a lens at the end.....like the X100T.
But also, the XP1 inspires me more to grab it and go out.....maybe cause it is the ‚newest‘ camera in the house 😉
      Hope my english is ok
      Cheers

I use a metabones speedbooster and Canon FD glass and, while the optical and tactile experience is first-rate, the size of most lenses + adapter is not really compact... So its not the most inconspicuous rig for street photography (although everybody assumes it is film).

    • @andrepel

agreed! unfortunately adapters do add bulk - the KH 40 1.8 may be a smaller solution since the lens is already a pancake :)
