    The X-Pro1 is a great powerhouse of a camera. I’ve just done two music festivals with mine and it held up brilliantly. The image quality is superb and the raw files are very versatile. Paired with the native XF lenses, particularly the pro line, the autofocus speed is more than acceptable. It’s about managing expectations vs reality with an older system. We’re constantly being bombarded with greater, bigger, better, faster from manufactures for their newer cameras. You have to weigh up what works for you and use accordingly. I see me using my X-Pro1 for many years to come and see no real reason to upgrade anytime soon.

      I think the problem is NOT that the camera is so slow but we as photographers have become so impatient. I use a x-pro 2 after having owned a X-pro1.

      I got my xpro1 for 269€, and god I’m in love. I use it a lot more than my xt30ii - my xpro1 isn’t as slow as his in the video tho. Only “slow” thing I’ve noticed is that autofocus takes a bit longer than newer cameras, but honestly I don’t think it’s THAT bad. It’s so much fun, really beautiful looking and takes really good pics, especially for its age (I’m very impressed, my photos mostly come out really sharp from it)! I’m more than happy about it 🫶🏻

    I have been using the Fuji X Pro 1 since 2014, purchased new and never hankered after another camera since. I have the original 35mm f1.4 and the 28mm f/2 lenses, and that is all I need. The XP1 is everything you say it is, but it's not ugly, just classic. Yes, that's it to my eye in my avatar on the upper left. I was a pro canon user before that and couldn't stand the bulk and weight anymore, so purchased the original Fuji X100, and later the XP1, and immediately blown away by both these cameras. The XP1 is slow, clunky and unforgiving if you try to steal the show, but it's ideal for street photographers who are willing to work with the camera and not against it (get to know it like the back of your hand and it will deliver every time). The raw files are sublime and filmic, and best processed in Capture One in my opinion. By the way, if you want quick access to the iso then do the same as I do: assign it to the function button. You can do it blindfold from there if you have to.

    I’ve had two of them. I love the output but in the real world the Xpro2 is light years ahead operationally and the output is easily as good. One day people will realise that the xpro2 is the magical Fuji 👌

    I got one a year ago (Summer 2021) for around $450 and it was totally worth it. The bad thing about it is that I have fallen in love with this body type. It feels go good in the hands. I love the rangefinder style and also have an X-E3 but I tend to pick up the X-Pro 1 more. Even though it can be frustrating. I primarily shoot manual lenses and the EVF isn't great for that. The focus peaking isn't great. When doing the focus-punch-in, the EVS tends to be blurry/smeary. But still - I love using this camera. I actually appreciate its slowness and simplicity. There's not much you can customize (only two customizable buttons), nowhere near as many image-quality settings (no grain, no chrome-fx, etc), the Q menu layout is fixed, there's no 'my menu'... Those are all fine features on the newer camera, but sometimes the abundance of choice and configuration is overwhelming, and I find the X-Pro1 and other cameras from the early 2010s can feel like a breath of fresh air. And it's just the perfect size and weight for a camera body, I think. I'm yearning for an X-Pro 2 or 3, and relegating my X-E3 to backup/compact role if I keep it. But I'll keep the X-Pro 1 for sure. It just feels like a classic and the pictures are great.

    Completely agree with you and glad you’re giving it respect it fully deserves. Have had mine for years and never letting it go. Sure I don’t shoot all the time with it (Xpro2 is my primary) but man it’s a great joy when you see the shots coming out of it. Plus I love the range-finder style. I wouldn’t call it ugly though ;) - I’ve had lots of compliments from complete strangers. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    I‘ve just bought an X-Pro 1 from 2012. I fell in love with it in 2014 but couldn’t afford it. Later, I lost track of it. I used and use Sony Full frame as workhorses. But they are just that - workhorses.
    The X-Pro makes me enjoy photography again. It slows me down in a positive way. I even caught myself taking pictures of snails, flowers and street signs.
    But I have to contradict you in one point: This camera is beautiful af! ❤

    My 2 X-Pro1 camera's are crying right now because you called them ugly 😉. But seriously, I think the X-pro line-up are one of the best looking (digital) camera's I've ever seen. And i'm serious. The shape, the boxy build, the OVF, 10/10.
    And eventhough I own 7 Fuji camera's ATM (2x X-pro1, X-M1, X-E2s, X-T1, X-Pro2, X-T4) the X-Pro1 is the one I always bring with me no mather what (main or backup). I Just adore the output of the X-trans I sensor. Period. Pair it with the 35mmf1.4 and you have got a slow as hell but optically beautiful combination. I have both an Xpro-1 and XPro-2. I use the Xpro-2 more than the 1 but like you I take out the Xpro-1 out every now and then as a walk around just for fun. I'm a sucker for first gen cameras. I also have the 5D classic with its 12MP sensor. It's the nostalgia in them that I enjoy. I enjoy the grain on the Xpro-1 at 3200. I have a few shots that look like film because of the roll off and grain.

    I just learned something new today. I've shooting with my xpro1 for years. I do mean years and never knew that it had focus peaking. I've learned to memorize my subject and I when hit focus button I can manually focus. The xpro1 truly taught me how to slow down and the shutter sound is so nostalgic. I have been thinking getting an actual fuji lens for it. Idk yet. Because I truly feel like (this is my opinion 😂) to really enjoy this camera you have only use vintage glass. I'm not upgrading no time soon. Maybe another 5-7 years with this camera. I love the filmic grain that it gives off. For a while the bandwagon crowd was trying to hunt it down because of some famous yt'er was like "you need this". Then the price went up for a while. Because I was looking at getting a 2nd xpro1 and making it my dedicated B&W camera. After this vid and Vuh Landes video I watched. I'm definitely subbing now! Thx ya for keeping it real in this photoshop'd world. Much love from South Ga 🤞🏾 ✨ 🌹

    I have had the xpro1, 2 and 3 and kept the xpro1. I liked the xpro1 ovf and evf but the colors were to cold and to digital. Also i like a normal screen for quick shots of my kids. Also i dislked that the dpad got removed. The xpro2 has about the same rendering as the xpro3, to cold imho. Also the back dial i found to recessed and hard to push. The xpro1 is slower yes but i had no problem taking several photos in a row in raw +jpeg. yes it was buffering but i could take shots while it was buffering so no problems there. The rendering i realy like ( i like the colors of xtrans 1 and 2 and pre xtrans x100 the best). The ovf seemed a bit bigger then xpro2 odly enough. Perhaps this is because there is no diopter in the xpro1. Which has an adittional advantage: no dust gets inside the ovf/evf! Thats a huge boon for me as the x100 series and other xpro models tend to get dust in the ovf via the small space in the diopter wheel (yes you can tape it but that looks ugly). Lasty i have the original x-pro1 grip. This one feels nicer then the origomal of the xpro2, because its not entirely metal. The metal grip on the xpro2 feels to cold imho. The one on the xpro1 feels warmer and nicer to hold.

    I am getting one tomorrow and will be adapting Pentax Auto 110 lenses with it for my street photography rig. My main rig that I've been shooting with for the last 18 months is an X-pro3 with Canon FD lenses adapted via Metabones speedbooster. It will be nice to have a camera I can set the focus to hyperfocal distance, set the exposure to auto, and just get fully immersed with the optical viewfinder. And like the poster has said, you can just take this camera with you anywhere and not really worry about it!

      How do you like the X pro 1?

    • @firstnamelastname9955
      @firstnamelastname9955 Рік тому

      @@evertking1 It's a lot of fun. People say that the "x-pro line will slow you down;make you think". I'm already used to shooing full manual, so I'm used to its demands. The xpro-1, however, does make me slow down because the processor is not very fast. This is not a problem for me at all. I enjoy it a lot and use it as my secondary when I'm not on super low-light (altough I think b&w jpegs look fine at up to ISO 12,800, I only shoot color up to ISO6400 with the x-pro1). My next purchase for it is a tilt-shift Canon FD-X adapter that will allow me full tilt and shift (with rotation also) capability with any of my FD lenses. This will be a game changer for me. I will probably pair it with my 35mm f/2, which will make it a 52.5mm equiv. and with the tilt-shift ability I can alter the focus plane and make better use of the x-pro1 in low-light. I think it will help me elevate my concert photography and will allow me to get more into architectural photography. I like the xpro-1 a lot and I'm really happy ao got it. I carry it a long as my "anywhere, anytime" camera because it is non-threatening and has great build quality!
