    If I remember correctly, there was a major plant failure at Cantley shortly before Christmas last year. All sugar production was transferred to BSC’s other plants at Wissington and Bury St Edmunds over the winter. Actual processing at Cantley was only ever seasonal anyway, following the sugar beet harvest and was dormant through spring and summer months, although other work was presumably carried out during these months.

      Hi, thanks for commenting. What I did notice while we travelled on the train is that at the back of the factory there are major works being carried out, I wonder if this is related to the failure. That aside thank you for the interesting update, I will mention it in passing when we next cruise passed. Rich and Lisa

    Hi Richard and Lisa, you are correct about the lodge. I think it was the one at 34:29 with the bench at the bottom of the garden. Sunset Lodge is lovely and we are staying there again next February.

    Hi Rich and Lisa, yes, the BA have now withdrawn from Langley dyke, which is a bloody shame, as it was one of my favourite south river moorings They were right at the top of the dyke on the south bank. The moorings are probably still there, but my be chargeable by the land owner, or may hjave "No Mooring" signs on them..

    • @WaggiesCruising
      @WaggiesCruising  Рік тому +1

      It is such a shame that the BA seem intent on a mission of self destruction. How long will it be before all boats are required to have tracking in them so that you will be charged for mooring at any BA location. I would be interested to find out why another free mooring has gone.

      @@WaggiesCruising the BA reported they could'nt agree a new contract withe landowner. There was also another section nearer the mouth of the dyke, but BA refused that on safety grounds claiming it was too near the main river. With that in mind, how come the BA have free 24 hr moorings ON THE MAIN River right beside the mouth of the Chet at Hardley Cross. Unfortunately, the BA have a history of high profile waste of money issues, things like very expensive misleading signage claiming the Broads is a National Park, which under UK law, just cannot be.

    The steam train you heard was "The Flying Scotsman". She has been running on the railways of Norfolk for a while.

      @@WaggiesCruising takes less than a day to steam from Cornwall to Norfolk. She went 50ft past our mooring at Brooms.

    Why not try Rockland St Mary's between Brundall and the Beauchamp Arms (the name of the deserted pub asked about). You cruise past every time and never mention it. Its a brilliant mooring with a great pub.

      @lesburrup7627 - I've just looked it up on the navigation app and yes that's a definite place to moor when we are next up in August. I am guessing that its going to be busy that time of year. How many mooring are there?

    • @Safc7627
      @Safc7627 Рік тому

      @WaggiesCruising at least 10 but never really busy enough on the south to not get in there. Good luck, loved your latest blog.

      @@WaggiesCruising. If the moorings at Rockland St Mary are full, you can moor at the BA moorings on Short Dyke and walk along the footpath to the staithe.
