    I remember in the summer of 89, me and 2 mates hired a boat called Mandarin from Maffett Cruisers in Loddon, (at 30secs into the vid, you can see her in their yard, the white DC30 fwd drv, quite ironic) and when cruising back to the yard on the Friday afternoon, coming round the twist at Nog Dam End on the Chet, there was a cow stranded in the middle of the river. I warned all downriver boat traffic, who gave me a strange look, and when we got to the yard, John, the owner of Maffetts (who was also a retained fireman based at Loddon) said i call 999 and ask for the fire brigade to go rescue the poor stricken animal. I did, and he went speeding off to the station, a minute later, we heard the sirens, and they located the cow, which by now was struggling to keep its head out of the water, but they managed to rescue it, and it scampered off over the field. Needless to say, NOT a word of thanks from the farmer.

      @WaggiesCruising  Рік тому +1

      Wow, that’s some story but I can totally believe it. I’ve seen it countless times in Cornwall where a cow falls into a river or creek and the fire service spend hours getting it out. Annoying no one thanked you ! I’m going to watch footage back to see the boat.

    Hi Richard and Lisa, It`s worth remembering that only running on one engine means you`re only using one alternator, so your battery charge rate will be 50%. Also, if only running on one engine, you`ve probably noticed you will need to counter steer to suit whichever engine is running, meaning, you are going in a straight course, but with the prop pushing to one side. This causes drag, which will increase fuel consumption on that engine.

    • @WaggiesCruising
      @WaggiesCruising  Рік тому +1

      Hi Neil, thank you for commenting as always I appreciate guidance and input from boaters who are far more knowledgeable than I. I agree that one engine is definitely not a good idea, the power steering works from the starboard engine which made manoeuvring the boat really difficult. I was unaware of the charging situation and that would explain the batteries not being fully charged on short runs. I hope you enjoy the rest of the vlogs which are upcoming and take part in our competition to win a 1200w Solar Generator in our review of the Ugreen 1200w Poweroam, I want all our regular subscribers to have a chance to win this £1299 piece of equipment.

    • @lovelifeloveboat
      @lovelifeloveboat Рік тому +2

      To be fair Neil, the engines on a sealine are not too far offset from the centerline of the vessel and so it is a lot less pronounced than on perhaps a shaft driven boat! good thing with outdrives is that the props will steer and the resulting yaw isn't too noticeable! Not so easy on the engine without power steering though!

    • @WaggiesCruising
      @WaggiesCruising  Рік тому

      My power steering comes off the starboard engine so it’s a bit harder to steer
