- MIKE STINNETT CARVES HIS MOST CHALLENGING WALKING STICK YET.
Mike spent two months carving and painting this multi-subject walking stick, which features the wildlife found around a marsh or pond. Carved into a single piece of wood is a Red Winged Blackbird, Cattails, Dragonfly, Western Garter Snake, and a Crawdad, with leather antenna added.

Incredible! This is beyond a masterpiece. Every part of the making of this stick is so detailed, so painstaking, so skilled--the wood is perfect, the concept art is perfect, the careful carving of each element--you have surpassed yourself. The finished project is just glorious. I truly love this piece and all the subjects you carved to go into this. I think the red-winged blackbird is the crowning jewel, but it is by far not the only jewel on this piece. This is a masterwork, this video is a masterclass. Mike, you are the master carver. Bless you and your family!
Thank you very much for your kind comment, Jean! I always get a kick out of your comments! I'm really glad you like the way it turned out, and thanks so much for following along with the progress videos, and your kind support on Patreon!
@@StinnettSticks love your work. I've been watching your videos videos for over a year now and every project you do is amazing. Jean Blythe is so right that the projects you create are masterpieces.
Yes
@@StinnettSticks You certainly have out done yourself with this. A fantastic work of art. We are amazed, aren't we, when the flow of Spirit settles into our blood and we just allow our hands to be moved and our focus is so intense. You were sure feeling it!
@@StinnettSticks yaah its like all the curvins in that stick are awaiting breath for them to come alive. i would do anything to have that stick. incredible n perfected
He's the bob Ross of carving
Dylan Lyons I was thinking the same thing
@@d.edmunds9955 no, he's the Stinnett Sticks of carving. He's one of a kind!
He is far from this comparison, I've never seen a chisel in his hand
L0vw me some Bob Ross
I truly can't get over this talent. Couldn't imagine having talent like this in any aspect of my life. Could watch these videos all day.
Take my 5 year old son all the time to ponds like these up in Canada, he just loves the garter snakes, dragon flies, red winged blackbirds. This video and the carving are incredible!
The respect that you hold for these creatures embodied in your work is clearly shown by how intricately and intimately you detail each piece. Fantastic workmanship as always, Bob Ross
The patiences of Job, hands of a Surgeon, and the talent of DaVinci. Incredible my friend.
Mind blowing Steve... just extraordinary.
There’s something so amazing about watching someone do something they are a master of...
That dog is adorable and the second cutest dog in the world lol after my dog obviously
He should carve his dog...lifesize...so his dog could have a friend...
@@kimimikar2579 His dog has a friend: Mike :-) Not that Mike is a dog, but Pearl is a little bitty human, kinda? She thinks she is.
@@jeanblythe1595 what breed pearl is ?🤔
@@boi-rr6tf Uh oh, I'm not a dog breed expert, so Mike will have to answer that one. If she was a cat, I could tell you. I do know she is a mix breed, but Mike will have to give you the specifics. She's a beauty, though. :-)
@@jeanblythe1595 looks like a Jack Russell/dachshund mix to me. She sure is a GOOD DOG!
Thank you again Mike for sharing your wonderful talent with us.
Between the music and watching you work, my soul is able to find a little bit of peace...even if it's just for a short time.
It is so beautiful! You are an amazing artist. Watching you create plus that lovely music takes me away to a place of calm. Thank you.
Thank you, Patricia! I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

Fantastically creative artwork ,and there's my little favourite Jellyroll at 3:55 I watch him carve them and they still look too realistic and beautiful to be done by a human hand.
Thanks for sharing . Your gorgeous walking stick . With all the animals . The Lord Truly Blessed You . With A Wonderful Talent . Have A Great Day .
I just can’t put into words how pleasing it is to watch you create your art. It’s incredible and words don’t come close to describing the beautiful work.
It's hard to pick a favorite after all these years of watching you but this is probably one of my favorites
Thank you Ed! I hope you had a great weekend! Talk to you soon Buddy!

WOW, someday you'll be featured on antique road show ,value in the six figures!!!!
Myself along with many others would be very curious as to their current value? Which I think might be whatever someone is willing to pay, above a minimum. I can see six figures for 5 of them one day, unless Mike becomes President or something famous like that. I am in awe of his talent, his keen eye for detail, his patience and his ethic to not be finished with any of his walking sticks until they are completely finished in his eyes! Sign of a Master Craftsman for sure! :o)
@@jimmieusaf-pol2639 From memory, I believe you're looking at around the $3,000 to $5,000 for one of his walking sticks.
Totally worth it, but sadly I can't afford one. 😣
Words just cant explain the incredible masterpiece and the little story behind it the stick says it all. Live Muse.
Honestly, I am stunned by your level of realism. You sir, have a marvelous gift. Thanks for sharing it
Another amazing job Sir.

Still a real masterpiece, I am incredibly impressed, a very good job.
This is like a brief representation of nature.. It's like the entire ecosystem on a stick...
Hopefully Ppl would learn to value everything in nature by seeing these amazing piece of art...
Thank you Mike for being mother nature's ambassador... ❤💕🕊
God has made that nature so beautiful. And you see it and carve it, that it looks just as amazing as the original - just wonderful! Whatching your videos really helps me, just to carve and having fun with my own way to do it. And then try and try and try again. And to look, how god made those animals, it just shows how much love he as putted in to his own work. And that makes me thankful.
Thank you, Jonathan! Yes, God has made everything well hasn't he! I marvel at all of His workmanship!
That is truly some impressive work Mike, thank you for sharing your process with us.
You sir have the hands from GOD!! that was absolutely amazing to watch, beautiful craftsmanship.
This showed up in recommended even though I have never watched a similar video.. watching you work is just mesmerizing, the amount of patience and attention to detail you have is incredible. Thank you for sharing your talent!

All of your carvings are absolutely gorgeous. However I firmly believe this is your Masterpiece to date. Wow
Thank you very much Rosa!
Probably one of the best videos i have ever seen . This dude is a true master in many crafts, displaying all of them here in one beautiful unique piece of art.
The attention to detail is jaw-dropping and an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your work and your spirit with all of us.
The level of mimic the insects and animals through wood carve is absolutely amazing~! Hats off to you sir!👌👍👏
How will I ever get as good as you if you keep getting better and better. Amazing work!
Thank you very much!
Absolutely beautiful, and easily my current favourite of all the sticks you've carved! Without mentioning any of the animals; even just the layered reeds have so much attention to detail and movement in them!
I've carved only a few things myself, but you've inspired me to make my next (current) project a walking stick.
You have a god given gift and you use it well, god bless you
Wow!. How glorious your talent. I can only imagine the amount of hours this took. Truly beautiful
Sooo Wunderschön deine Arbeiten! 🌹 Love To You
There is such life and dynamism and diversity to the things you carve, it seems like there isn't a subject you couldn't capture. You make me wish I had a house of my own with a place I could work on sculpture (and make a good old-fashioned mess) with subtractive carving. I learn so much, even just watching how you approach your materials. Thanks for continuing to share your craft and passion!
WOW! Thank you for sharing your talents, you are indeed the Best I have ever seen! You have inspired this 65 yr old lady to continue carving. I'm very much into Detail, but on a much smaller level. AWESOME Video
That is the cutest chubbiest little dog I’ve ever seen!
Looks like a weenerjack. maybe a Jackshound.
I absolutely love it, I love birds so much, a cardinal is my absolute favorite animal, you are amazingly talented! God bless
Thank you, my friends! God bless you too!
Totally Mesmerising watching you make this beautiful walking stick. ❤️❤️
This one is by far my favorite. It's everything I've grown up around in Wisconsin. It feels like home to me.
This is incredible! The details are amazing, I’ve never seen such perfection. Absolutely the more beautiful walking stick I’ve ever seen!
Thank you very much, Glenda!
Oh my lord, Pearl is so adorable!
So much life where you live... must be a wonderful existence. Breathtaking breath of fresh air. Pearl knows this.
Your hands are that of creation. You are both artist and visionary. You seek to understand the beauty of the world so that you may uniquely render that beauty through a lens of love and reverence. My sincerest thanks. First ever video I've seen of yours, and not the last. Blessings from the daughter of a sailor woodworker - a girl born on the rivers of the north west.
I've always loved your work on making snakes! but this one is even more awesome with everything combined!
In Brazil we have beautiful colors of woods that would give a beautiful sculpture made by his hands
Wow the life you bring into your art is amazing such a beautiful piece of work thank you again for sharing your art with me god bless to you and your family
I don't know why, but I find watching you carve these beautiful walking sticks so relaxing. All the love and care you put into your projects makes your videos a simple joy to watch!
Thank you!
A pleasure to watch a true Artisan. Awesome work!
Thank you, Bruce!
You are truly gifted. You see the beauty around you and reproduce it. I am still amazed at not only carving but a master in paint and color to bring the the carving to life. I respect the hours that you put in the work. I have never tried to carve and I have a Dremel sitting in my tool box, time to give it a try. I still have no Idea how this video came up but I'm thankful! Subscribed!
Thank you, Brian! I hope you will give carving a try!
Words cannot adequately describe this work. Simply stunning. Sir you are a Master Craftsman indeed.

@@StinnettSticks thank you Mike. We can sure use your prayers and kind thoughts.
I can’t even put into words how amazing your masterpieces are! Wow! I’ve been binge watching a lot of your videos and they are so peaceful and relaxing to watch. The amount of detail is insane, and some of the smallest part that other people may not care about you take every single dot or line and make it part of the masterpiece. Literally adding each scale to the snake, and each line in the feathers. Wow! And of course Pearl is my favorite part! I love how she has her own chair HAHA!! Fabulous job on this gorgeous masterpiece!
Sir Stinnett...you are very best wood carver in the world...all your carves look like very very real...all masterpieces work of art...congrats
The beauty, elegance & realism of your work is truly breathtaking. You are an incredibly talented man. Thank you so much for sharing your work with the world.
YES YOU ARE BACK AGAIN WITH ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO FOR US 😊😊😊😊😊
Love this man 💙
NIC MONIKA
it is not awsome
I love your videos and your work! God bless you :) Greetings from Brazil
I love how much care and patience that goes into these.
To watch how you take care to enjoy even the smallest things, you go to great lengths to capture the little details. It is no wonder that people sometimes are afraid to approach you because your carvings are better than good and look like they are alive. Artist, sculptor, painter and humble also, I enjoy your work.
Thank you very much, Dale! I appreciate your kind words!
I swear when you put the clear on the snakes eye he stuck his tongue out later bro! 😎💨
I've loved all of your carvings , period. However something about this one struck a cord with me. I was very interested on how you would handle the transparency of the dragonflies wings, as I watched you crave it. I wasn't disappointed, your method was beautifully done. The crayfish, what we call crawdads in Indiana, holding onto the snakes tail is charming as well as lifelike. I have a avid interest in watching birds, and your red-wing blackbird looks as though he could fly away at any time. Thanks for this video on this weekend, you made my day. All my best to you and yours, enjoy this labor-day you've earned it.
Thank you very much, Scott! I had to do a lot of thinking about how to paint the wings. I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Have a great rest of the weekend!
@@StinnettSticks how many hours does it take to make such walking stick? do you do this for living? for how much do you sell them?
That crawdad grabbing the garter snake’s tail is really funny!
Wow! Now that’s what you call talent! From the 🇬🇧
I feel like you're living exactly how I'd like to live one day, seems so peaceful especially compared to Essex. I really do love your art too I'm currently enjoying watching you make a few. 💙
Thank you, Monica!

wow, this is a real masterpiece! your are a great artist, and I like so much your videos
Oh, how lovely! You had an alder borer come to visit.
Seing pearl makes me 😭😭 My companion of 10 wonderful years came to an end on February 1, 2020. Age got to him and all his organs where shutting down. God bless you and your family dogs are like our children's. Again thanks for all your wonderful times.
When God gave out the gift of patience, he gave you 100 times the amount he gives the average person! Your amazing talent speaks for itself, but your patience?.......I wished I had a tiny fraction of your patience! This is one of the best channels on UA-cam! Keep up the amazing work, and videos.
Give yourself a little bit more credit. I bet if you took the time and started practicing and learning, you could be able to create the same type of walking sticks he does. He has already said in an older video that all he did was start making them and the more he did it and studied the the better he got. You can have the talent just the same. If you did a project now and kept doing it, just in one year you will have improved your skills then your first project.
Amazing work as always.
The detail is amazing, and to think you start with such a large piece of wood is mind-blowing.
Thank you very much!
Still can`t believe what you`ve created, loved the change of varnish to indicate below water.
You are blessed with a great skill of passion & patience..
SubahanAllah that's very wonder and highly skilled sir. It's very satisfying to watch 😊😉
Great work Mike, I really like the sticks that look like an actual log or stick. Nice video.
Thank you, Joseph!
Incredible. What an artist. Boy you need a really steady hand. Gorgeous.
I admire anyone that can take a piece of wood and create a piece of art. I just watched a documentary on Michelangelo and was mesmerised by his use of marble. I can take an empty space the larger the better and not feel daunted, you give me a piece of wood and I am stumped. Admiration to you Mr Stinnett, your love of nature and it's value in a world where man thinks he/she is master of all (which I find so, so vile, arrogant and destructive) is a joy to behold. If everyone planted a tree and created a habitat just think how happy nature would feel. Go on help nature out folks, you know she deserves a helping hand now. Pick up an acorn, fill your pockets and plant them, in a free space of course and watch what happens. Nature is better than any movie, tv show or pop channel. Give it a go!!
I CAME HERE TO SEE THAT CUTE DOG
🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Haha! Pearl says thank you!
Hallo Mr. Stinnett!
Ich habe mir alle Ihrer Videos angesehen und war stets begeistert von Ihren fantastischen Werken.
Dieser Stock aber übertrifft meiner Meinung nach alles Bisherige.
Ein herausragendes Kunstwerk! 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thank you very much, Gerhard! I appreciate you kind words!
These videos are really calming. As an aspiring young woodworker i really enjoy watching projects like this to get ideas and inspiration for future projects (even though i'm a long way off something this cool). You really give me a Bob Ross vibe, you are the Bob Ross of Woodworking.
As an amateur artist, it is inspiring to watch the video of you carving your first stick and then compare to your current work. You get better with every piece and give me hope that with time and practice I can do great work as well.
The bug's like, "You got a little extra space to put me in the carving?"
Haha!
Wow am number 20 to comment. Lots of love from Africa dear Stinnett
