I walked into the airport about 40 years ago and had forgotten my Italian switchblade was in my pocket. Security says they've got to confiscate it but "How does it open?" ' SNiiiINK ' " WHOAAAAAA!!!! "
Can't they just let you back out of the line to bring it back to your vehicle instead of confiscating it? I get they have to confiscate it if you're intending to proceed ahead, but aren't you allowed to turn back and get rid of it if you prefer to not lose the knife?
Most of them are harder to close than they are to open. My grandfather's, at least, opens with a push of the button with the safety off, but the lock is in the guard. You have to twist the guard in order to close the blade, and it took me a while to figure that out
I did this with a Swiss folder, I dropped it in a trash can. I wish I would have known how much they had gone up in value, I would have went dumpster diving.
I alternate my edc “letter openers”. I decided to aid a co-worker in becoming more familiar with them. My Cold Steel American Lawman nicked their pinky before they finished deploying it 🤣
For anyone wondering, this model is the 430 "Redoubt." Also, the audio is actually from MetalComplex's unboxing of the Reate knives "EXO," this is absolutely NOT how an axis-locking knife will sound.
Benchmade doesn’t necessarily have the sharpest factory edges but they generally make great knives. The level of sharpness can always be adjusted through sharpening. I generally sharpen my knives to about 1,000 grit and then strop them to 3.5 microns. Generally factory edges are around 600 grit for large companies like Benchmade and Spyderco if I recall correctly.
I’m a big fan of Benchmade, but I really wish they’d step up their game with their knife steel. They only have one knife in M390 and mainly use s30v. If they started making s35vn or tried getting on the magnacut train I would be all over it.
I've been carrying my Benchmade McHenry & Williams 154cm for over a decade. It's saved my butt more times than I can count, taken abuse no knife should see and has no signs of stopping.
I’m glad you caught it. Although it was intended originally as a satire, I didn’t really think it through before I posted and it seems like many viewers, possibly even a majority, do not recognize his voice and think it’s me just not knowing how to operate a knife. As a result, I thought about taking the video down but the irony of the situation is kind of hilarious in its own right so it’s staying up 😂🤷♂️
For anyone saying they carry a gun , I carry a gun and I carry a knife if it comes down to a situation where you’re unable to access your firearm in close quarters the knife can be used to make distance between you and the threat so you have time to pull out your firearm
I’ll give you the props of timing MC’s vocals while he’s opening the Reate gravity knife, but there could be confusion as to both of you not knowing wtf you’re doing. I, however, appreciate your comedic intent. Hilarious.

It’s the Benchmade Redoubt. They’re in stock at many retailers but I recommend DLT Trading (I’m an affiliate so using the link helps my channel but I sought them out because they are my favorite retailer): dlt.link/3zZgOOJ. I also recommend itsnotaknife.com for Benchmades. (I am not affiliated with them but like them as well). However, note the the second retailer I recommended only carries Benchmades.

This is not a Griptilian. This is the "430 Redoubt." Benchmade began featuring the axis lock on many of their knives after its vast success on the 550 lineup since 2001.
I agree that a knife is only dangerous if you don't know what your doing or aren't use too using that specific knife. That's why I have that 1 very important rule.

Oh damn. 😳😳😳. I know what you mean though. I handed a knife I just sharpened to my father in law the other day and he immediately edge tested it with his thumb despite me telling him it was VERY sharp since I used a wicked edge sharpening set. He was like, “oh yeah. You’re right. That’s sharp. I shouldn’t have done that” 😂🤦♂️
I love fixed blades. I live in a city so I generally carry fixed blades with a smaller blade than a Kabar but I know what you mean. They’re tough as nails. I have a several I use outside the city with larger blades including some others from Bark River Knives, Vehement Knives, Night Watch Knives, and more. I also have some larger choppers like the BRK JX5 and TOPS El Chete. Oddly enough, I’ve never actually had a Kabar fixie. Not even a Becker.

I may be misremembering since I do have any assisted Benchmades anymore but o think only a few did that (most opened via the thumbstuds). Benchmade’s spring assist was always a lot more fun than speedsafe from kershaw or the ones from most other manufacturers, though. The new CRKT assist mechanism by Ken Onion is also pretty well done.

It’s only a thing if you’re using the axis lock wrong, so I don’t think it’s a worry if you’re not being dumb with the knife. I have over 20 different versions of the 940 and have owned several more and have NEVER had that happen with a genuine one (I’ve seen it on the fakes). My favorite Benchmade auto is probably the CLA. The Mediator is the best value. And the 9400 is the auto version of the 940 which I like a lot as well and if you wanted an auto version of the 940, the 9400 would be it. All should be available at Bass Pro Shop.

Great question. I will make a video on this for you but the easiest way to explain is use your middle, ring, and pinky fingers to hold the knife and clip. Use your pointer and thumb to hold either side of the axis lock and pull back. Of course, make sure your fingers are clear of the blade path first.
i mean all joking aside, this knife is cool and all, and probably can be dangerous if you need it to be, but hunters will tell you that to dispatch your prey quickly you really want an exposed blade length at least 2/3 the width of the prey's torso

Bought my wife a benchmade 380 aller and wanted to show a couple people i worked with. I handed it to one guy and he tapped the edge on the corner of a metal table. I almost shit a brick
