I’d love to see a video like this on Scottish castles and palaces. We’ve a lot of history from Stirling and Edinburgh castles which are fairly old, up to balmoral which is pretty new.
Me too. I wanna learn more about Scottish history. I find the country quite fascinating. Maybe a video on the Scottish royalty before James the sixth would be nice. Scotland did exist since kenith mcalpin the first became the first king of Scotland around the 840s.
I don’t know if Balmoral counts. Not because it’s not a castle, it is and it’s stunning, but because it’s owned by the Queen in a personal capacity, not because she is head of state
Oh my gosh! Yes, please! As a budding fashionista, I would love to learn more about royal fashion! And why stop at the UK? I'd love to learn about royal fashion all around the world! 🌈💖💕❤️
You continue to astound me, Lindsay, you're so thorough, well-spoken, and intrinsic with everything you present. Thank you so much for your content. I always look forward to it.
I hope this series eventually extends to other castles, palaces & their equivalents in other countries. It would be interesting to see / learn about the differences & similarities in architecture, purposes & histories connected to each place around the world. 🙂
I’m extremely lucky to have grown up in Windsor. So I used to go to the castle frequently because residents get free entry. It is such a fantastic place to visit and highly recommend to anyone who gets the chance to go. Thank you for this video, it is really informative! Much love from the U.K. xx
How did you grow up there? As in, it's such a big place I'm so curious who else live in these castles and what their roles are, what people do each day? So many questions.
Sounds ridiculous? I made my servants build walls around my bed chamber so no one could assassinate me! If I was hungry at night, the brick would need to fall and made again 🤗

I was able to go and visit both Windsor Castle and the London Tower for my senior trip in 2018! It was an amazing experience, especially for someone from Mississippi haha. I was also able to go and see Notre Dame in Paris, exactly 1 year prior to the fire.
as a high school student who is trying to expand their knowledge in history, (especially european history) these videos help me so much and cuz of it, i was able to getting 100% marks on my all my history assignments, essays and exams!! thank you for making so many informative videos!
I have to disagree, a lot of the Tudors favoured Greenwich Palace, aka Palace of Placentia, more than Windsor Castle. Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Mary I were all born there. It was also where Henry VIII had his jousting accident.
I'm appreciating this series! I always had trouble telling most of the royal residences apart. Anything past some of the ones like Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, or Balmoral is often a roll of the dice what I actually recall about it beyond "it's a castle/palace in England."
Great video! So educational and informative. Covers a lot of ground (literally) in a short time for the time-challenged (like me). I needed to learn as much as quickly as possible and this was very useful! Thanks Lindsay!
We were just at Windsor this past April. It was really nice, especially knowing it is a working residence! We watched the changing of the guard, there, and were told The Queen was watching from her window across the lawn. 😊 The Tower of London is my top pick for things to see when visiting. The tours with the Beefeaters are fantastic and I LOVE the jewels and the ravens. I''d love to return to England and visit more castles and palaces.
Excellent video as always 🤗 I have been to the Tower of London three times, as I used to live in England. FYI- I truly hope that you will consider creating a video on the hauntings and lore of some of these famous castles for Halloween 🎃
Worth noting Hatfield house which housed Princess Elizabeth (I) as a young child. Also in Essex there's a school that once was Beaulieu Palace home to Mary.
I missed so many of these wonderful places when I visited London in 1972. I hadn't read enough history or Dickens or Austen to know what I was looking at. I did see the Crown Jewels and the Tower. I missed the costume collection at the V&A -- I thought it was closed, not realizing the curtains were drawn around the cases to keep the light from damaging them! Dang!
Hampton Court is really lovely they have gorgeous gardens a very small maze though unfortunately. I remember going to the tennis courts onsite years ago don't know if they're open to the public because of Rona. There are also costume interpreters who roam around and occasionally do talks or little scenes in certain areas. I went there when they were reenacting the different weddings of Henry VIII and we could wear coats to show which side you were on and got to shout long live the King and Queen in the main hall.
The shame of it I have never even visited for the changing of the guards. I don’t really like London, I have only been through three times and it is not anywhere I wanted to visit. But have been to many other castles around Great Britain, mostly ruined ones!but several to tour. This was really well done . Thank you 🥰
Hello Lindsay! 😊 Thank you for this quality content! I love the effort you put into all of your videos, especially your dry humour. Would you be able to do a video on the history of post-mortem photography? ☠️📸
I’ve been to Windsor Castle and the Tower of London twice, and to Hampton Court once. My favourite castle I’ve ever visited, however, is Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn. Not a royal castle, but absolutely magnificent, and with the most beautiful garden ever! If you get the opportunity, I urge you to visit.😍
I LOVE the Tower of London! I go there every single time I visit England! I visited Windsor once, not long before the fire (No it wasn't me!! 😜). I would love to go back Windsor someday. I also hope to go to Buckingham someday as well!
I want to go to London so bad. I had been saving up for a long time but covid hit. I'm waiting for the right time again. I want to hit up all the places.
I’m surprised that you mentioned a person who was married at Windsor Castle (there have been many - even the common public!), but you didn’t mention that the current KING himself was married there!! Then-Prince of Wales / now King Charles III married the current Queen Consort Camilla at Windsor, followed by a blessing at St George’s Chapel! 💒👰♀️🤵♂️ Thank you for this video and all your videos - very enjoyable and well done! 😊
Hello, ma'am! I'm sincerely wondering if you could make another video about how and what medieval people used to weigh things such as food and also of how pecuniary matters work back in their century? What were their coins made of? Thank you so much and I'm loving your vids!
