Some of mine eclose after one week. Others 3+ months! They're on their own time so you cannot count on what anyone else says. Your Black Swallowtail will introduce himself to you when the time is just right for him. It's always a beautiful surprise! Hope you didn't have to wait too long to meet yours. So beautiful! I have a chrysalis that just formed.. he’s lying in a container.. I’m Wondering if he’ll form now or if it’s so late he’ll wait until spring. It’s still in the 70s here so I’m thinking he might emerge. If you have any tips please let me know! It’s my first time with a swallowtail!! ❤
Our experience has been that they would winter over by this time of the year. My advice is leave them outside, and let nature happen! We see them come out in March.
